
#4 Hoehne vs #5 Simla
What a way to kick off the Class 2A State Tournament. Simla jumped out to a quick 7 to 3 early in the First Quarter powered by their defense which was employing a half court trap to force some early turnovers. Hoehne quickly countered with a 4-0 run in the next two minutes to tie the game using their man-to-man press to force the issue. Simla did end the 1st quarter leading 10 to 7. Hoehne took their first lead of the game early in the second quarter 12 to 10. Some foul trouble started popping up for Hoehne with Janae Ramos & Alessa Cantoria picking up their 3rd personnel foul with in the second quarter. Simla retook the lead with 3 minutes left in the second quarter and held the lead to halftime, the halftime score was 22 to 17. The second half started with Simla pushing their lead to nine points with 6 minutes left in the 3rd Quarter. Simla defensively forced Hoehne to speed up and was winning the turnover battle 18 to 12. Hoehne had another run in them cutting the lead to 4 with two minutes left in the 3rd quarter. The 3rd quarter ended with Simla leading 33 to 28. Hoehne came out and cut the lead to 4 with 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter but Simla answered with a small run pushing the lead back to 7. Simla after that took control of the game pushing the lead to 10 with 3 minutes left in the fourth. Simla would finish with the 50 to 38 win over Hoehne.
