Class 1A Saturday Schedule and Quick Update
We will have a recap article of all games Saturday for Class 1A out tomorrow or Monday. Here is a quick recap of the Semifinals games in Class 1A plus a look at today’s schedule.
Boys
#1 McClave over #4 Stratton 39 to 37
This was a fantastic game between a pair of teams leaving everything out on the court. McClave got started with a 12 to 8 first quarter to set the ton. Stratton would cut into that lead winning the second quarter and making it just a 3 point game going into halftime. The second half would see a physical defensive game continue for both teams. McClave would win the 3rd quarter 9 to 8 and would push the lead back to 4 for McClave. The game would be decided in the fourth quarter. Stratton would make things extremely close cutting the lead to just two but McClave would close things out with a 2 point win to advance to the State Championship.
#2 Cheyenne Wells over #3 Denver Jewish Day 40 to 23
Cheyenne Wells would set the ton early using a 14-0 run to start the game and would never look back. Cheyenne Wells led buzzer to buzzer behind another great defensive effort. Cheyenne Wells with the win sets up a huge rematch in the State Championship. Cheyenne Wells will face McClave in the State Championship and this is the rubber match between these two schools.
Girls
#4 Briggsdale over #1 McClave 50 to 45
A rematch of last years State Championship and this one would not disappoint. Briggsdale would open the game with a 14-0 run and lead early in the game. McClave would not go down quietly and would go on a huge run themselves. McClave would hold a 7 point lead heading into the 4th quarter and things would get interesting. Briggsdale would go on a big run led by Jenna Krise and take a lead late in the 4th quarter. McClave would try to pull the comeback but clutch free throws by Briggsdale has them advance to the State Championship to defend their title.
#2 Stratton over #3 Flatirons Academy
Flatirons Academy would get things started in the 1st quarter taking an early 13 to 5 lead and looked to set the tone for the game. Stratton would respond with a massive second quarter outscoring Flatirons Academy 20 to 3 and take a 25 to 16 lead into halftime. Flatirons Academy would respond after halftime cutting into the Stratton lead. Stratton would respond again in the even quarters and would dominate the fourth quarter 16 to 1. Stratton advances to the state championship for a regular season rematch with Briggsdale. Stratton won that meeting.
