Class 1A Baseball Regional Predictions
Here are my predictions for the Class 1A Regional Tournament. These are for fun and it’s not easy to predict baseball as shown with last weeks district tournaments. Good Luck to all teams tomorrow. We will have our regional breakdown out next with a full dive into all games.

Class 1A Regional Predictions
Region 1
#1 Merino over #16 Nucla
I think Nucla could make this a game early especially with their #1 pitching. Merino has shown they can hit some of the best and why I think they advance.
#8 Otis over #9 Stratton
This is going to be a great game. Stratton will look to bounce back from last weekend and get by a very good Otis team. Otis is looking to show last weekend was not a fluke and look to advance. I can easily see this game go either way.
#1 Merino over #8 Otis
Merino may have their ace for this game this time around. Otis probably has to throw their #1 similar to last week. I don’t think Merino needs 20 to beat Otis this time around and is a much lower scoring game.
Region 2
#4 Simla over #13 Wiley
I think this game could be a very interesting game. Wiley has shown they can hang with the top teams and with their Ace more than likely pitching first could make things very interesting.
#5 Dove Creek over #12 Elbert
I also think this will be a very close game. Both teams are looking to prove themselves and should make for a fun game. I am guessing both teams throw their best to try and advance.
#4 Simla over #5 Dove Creek
This could be a high scoring game especially if both teams throw their top pitchers in the game before. Simla has shown they can hit and advance and I think that happens in this game.
Region 3
#3 Eads over #14 Caliche
Eads had a great weekend and will look to build off it. They will be tested by Caliche but I think advance.
#6 Akron over #11 Evangelical Christian
Akron will be looking to bounce back after a tough weekend. They probably won’t look past ECA and look for them to come out hot.
#6 Akron over #3 Eads
This was not an easy decision. Eads is playing their best baseball, and I went back and forth on this pick. I could easily see either team win this game and could be another great matchup in the regional finals.
Region 4
#2 Flatirons Academy over #15 Sierra Grande
Sierra Grande makes their first trip to regionals in 30 years and plays a perennial power right away. I think Flatirons is able to get by Sierra Grande but look for SG to challenge Flatirons Academy.
#7 Haxtun over #10 Holly
Haxtun was upset in the first round at districts and will look to avoid. This could be one of the best opening round regional matchups as both teams come in looking to bounce back. Both teams are perennial top 4 teams, and this will be a battle.
#7 Haxtun over #2 Flatirons Academy
Haxtun will look to make a repeat visit to Denver, and I think get by Flatirons Academy. Haxtun will have to get the bats rolling especially if they pit their #1 in the opening round.
State Championships
Semifinals & State Championship will be played 5/16 at All-Star Park in Lakewood.
