
Class 3A Softball Weekly Recap and Preview

With softball in full swing now, we will be looking at the top two 3A softball teams in each league as of September 9th. In leagues where there are multiple classes, only the 3A teams will be discussed. These are teams that we will be keeping our eyes on as they push to make it into the playoffs.
Please note that with several games being played yesterday, stats may not be updated with current game numbers and league rankings may be different.

Denver Metro League
The Academy (9-2)
The Wildcats are currently 9-2 on the season and 1-0 in league play. Last week, The Academy was able to beat Weld Central 11-1 and Lyons 10-2. The losses on The Academy’s record that kept them in 2nd in the Denver Metro League at the end of last week were against Green Mountain (4-5) and Wellington (4-11). Yesterday, the Wildcats played Jefferson Academy in the first league game of the season where they were able to get the win 20-1 and move up to 1st in the Denver Metro League. This week, The Wildcats will be looking to keep adding to their wins and will be facing Strasburg on 9/12 and Niwot on 9/14.
Stat leaders for The Academy are Mackenzie Pearson (Sr) who has 3 home runs, 22 runs, 17 hits and 16 RBI, Victoria Pearson (Sr) who has 1 home run, 8 stolen bases, a 3.46 ERA, 18 runs, and 20 hits, Ava Fladung (Sr) who had 4 stolen bases and 14 runs, Keara Pogue (So) who have 3 stolen bases and 15 hits, Leyla Martin (So) who has a 3.46 ERA and a 12 RBI, and Harper Scott (Fr) who has 11 RBI.
Forge Christian (9-1)
Forge Christian currently sits with an 8-1 overall record and are currently on an 8-game win streak. The Forge Christian has not played any leagues games yet, but because of their lone loss their first game of the season, the Fury are currently sitting at the top of the Denver Metro League. Last week, the Fury got the win over Green Mountain 11-4 and was able to beat Peak to Peak 8-4. This week, Forge Christian will be looking to be the second team to beat Eaton this season on 9/12 and then will face Southeast Colorado on 9/14.
Leading the stat board so far this season for Forge Christian are Vivian Stults (So) who has 1 home run, 7 stolen bases, 19 runs and 16 hits, Rio Beck (Jr) who has 8 stolen bases, 18 runs, 21 hits, and 16 RBI, Julianna Alfaro (So) who has 7 stolen bases, a 1.67 ERA, 15 hits, and 14 RBI, and Kaedence Miller (So) who has 15 runs and 11 RBI.
Lower Platte
Wray/Yuma (5-5-1)
The Wray/Yuma Eagles are currently 5-5-1 on the season and have not played in any league games yet. This last week was a busy one for the team as played six games, winning 3 of them, losing 2 and drawing in 1. The Eagles were able to beat Holyoke 12-2, and Chase County in a double headers 12-2 and 14-1. Their losses were to Timnath 15-2 and Bayard 12-1. They tied against Florence and did not go to extras due to tournament play. This week will be less busy for the Eagles as they will face Valley on 9/14 at home.
Sitting at the top of the stat board for Wray/Yuma are Ellie Oestman (Jr) who has 7 stolen bases, a 3.78 ERA, 11 runs and 6 hits, Lauren Gdanitz (So) who has 6 stolen bases and 10 RBI, Grace Jones (Fr) who has 5 stolen bases, 6 hits and 7 RBI, Priscylla White (Jr) who has a 7.35 ERA, Clara Oestman (So) who has 13 runs, Gabby Aguilar (So) who has 12 runs, Autumn Maggard (Fr) who has 9 hits and Emree Lenz (So) who has 7 RBI.
Burlington (4-6)
Burlington is currently 4-6 overall on the season but they have yet to play any league games this season. It was a tough week for the Cougars, going 2-2 with losses to Limon (10-8) and Wellington (15-0), but being able to win against Holyoke (13-10) and Platte Valley (21-2). This weekend, Burlington will be looking to add more wins to their record as they will be facing Holyoke again in a league double header on 9/14.
Leading the stat board for Burlington are Paige Bessire (So) who has 14 stolen bases, 11 runs, 14 hits and 10 RBI, Jasmine Robles (Jr) who has 10 stolen bases and 10 runs, Valerie Duarte (Sr) who has 8 stolen bases and 10 runs, Emberly Thew (So) who has 10 hits, Austynn Taylor (So) who has 8 hits and Francisca Orrantia (So) who has 9 RBI.
Patriot League
Lyons (7-4)
Lyons is currently 1st in the Patriot League after beating Weld Central 11-0 and going 3-0 in league and 7-4 overall. Aside from yesterday’s game, Lyons was able to beat Brush last week 6-1 but fell to The Academy 10-2. This week, the Lions will be looking to maintain their spot in the league rankings and will be facing Timnath on 9/12 at home, Platte Canyon on 9/16 on the road, and Platte Valley on 9/17 back at home.
Stat leaders for Lyons are Ava Vasquez (So) who has 2 home runs, 6 stolen bases, 16 runs, 15 hits, and 11 RBI, Leora Hagan (So) who has 6 stolen bases and 15 runs, Autumn Johnsey (So) who has 5 stolen bases, 13 hits, and 13 RBI, Gretta Wynja (So) who has a 2.22 ERA and 10 hits, Elle Magaldi (Sr) who has 12 runs, and Ella White (Fr) who has 10 RBI.
Eaton (11-1)
Eaton currently sits at number two in the Patriot League, despite ranking number one overall in several softball rankings. The Reds are 1-0 in league and have yet to play Lyons who is currently sitting at the top of their league. Eaton currently has an overall record of 11-1 after beating Strasburg 8-0, Pomona 12-3, Elizabeth 8-7 in 9 innings, and Sterling 15-0. However, Eaton did suffer their first loss of the season to Southeast Colorado 4-5. Interestingly, the Reds lost their one and only game of the season during a similar time last year and they went on to take the state title. The team will be looking to repeat the story this season and will be looking for wins against Forge Christian on 9/12, Fort Lupton on 9/14, and Valley on 9/17.
Current stat leaders for Eaton are Kiauna Smith (Sr) who has 3 home runs, 8 stolen bases, 23 runs, 25 hits and 20 RBI, Johanna Galvan (So) who has 3 home runs, a 1.37 ERA, and 24 RBI, Isabella Ramsey (So) who has 2 home runs, Zoe Hamilton (Sr) who has 6 stolen bases and 20 runs, Emma Anderson (So) who has 5 stolen bases, 19 runs, 22 hits, and 17 RBI, and Bria Foster (So) who has a 2.04 ERA and 20 hits.
Tri Peaks I
Lamar (10-2)
Lamar is currently sitting with a 10-2 overall record. Last week they went 3-1 in games played last week after falling to Mesa Ridge 7-9, but beating Sand Creek 7-3, George Washington 6-4 and Pueblo Eats 13-9. The Thunder played their first league game yesterday against La Junta and was able to get the win 3-1. This week, Lamar will be facing Pueblo Central on 9/14 at home and then will see Palmer Ridge on 9/14 and Limon on 9/17.
Leading the team so far this season are Chloe Weber (Sr) who has 3 home runs, a 7. 94 ERA, 17 hits, and 18 RBI, Annabelle Morales (Sr) who has 1 home run and 13 runs, Daisy Medina (So) who has 1 home run, Khloe Fernandez (Jr) who has 11 stolen bases, 18 runs, 16 hits, and 12 RBI, Alexus Campbell (So) who has 8 stolen bases and 13 runs, Shayla Sigala (Fr) who have 4 stolen bases, Carlin Weber (Fr) who has a 2.48 ERA, and Melanie Salcedo (Sr) who has 20 hits and 15 RBI.
Alamosa (8-6)
After playing their first league game yesterday against Rocky Ford, Alamosa lost and is currently 8-6 overall on the season and are 0-1 in league play. Last week, the Mean Moose lost to Falcon 10-9, beat Pueblo East 10-2, lost to Pueblo County 10-0 and beat Mesa Ridge 8-5. This week, Alamosa will be looking to hold onto their spot in the Tri Peaks I league and will be facing Southeast Colorado on 9/12 and Gunnison on 9/17.
The Mean Moose stat leaders Araceli Molina (Jr) who has 3 home runs, 9 stolen bases, 20 runs, 19 hits and 20 RBI, Myissa Duran (Sr) who has 1 home run and 9 stolen bases, Lexany Heredia (Sr) who has 1 home run, 11 stolen bases, 20 runs, and 15 hits, Olivia Castillo (So) who has a 3.23 ERA, Shea Jordan (Sr) who has a 5.49 ERA, Kennedy Hillis (So) who has 14 runs, Gaby Castillo (Sr) who has 17 hits and 13 RBI, and Shaya Martin (So) who has 12 RBI.
Tri Peaks II
Woodland Park (3-6)
The Panthers are currently 1st in the Tri Peaks II league with a 1-0 league record and a 3-6 overall record. Woodland Park fell to Sierra early last week 10-5 but the team was able to bounce back and get the wins over James Irwin 21-6 and Palmer 19-3. This week will not be easy for Woodland Park, but they will be fighting to get some wins on their record, the Panthers will be facing Coronado on 9/12 at home, TCA in a double header at home on 9/14, and Canon City on 9/17 on the road.
Topping the leaderboards for Woodland Park so far this season are Christine Renteria (So) who has 1 home run, 19 stolen bases, 20 runs, 13 hits, and 9 RBI, Destiny Curran (Sr) who has 9 stolen bases, 14 runs, and 9 hits, Adey Hughes (Jr) who has 7 stolen bases, 11 runs and 11 RBI, and Rylee Schoendaller (Sr) who has 9 hits and 7 RBI.
James Irwin (3-5)
After losing last week to both Sand Creek (13-1) and Woodland Park (21-16), James Irwin is 3-5 overall on the season with a 0-1 league record. The Jaguars will be looking to hold their league rank and get some more wins added to their record this week and will be facing Canon City on 9/12 on the road, and Mitchell on the road on 9/14.
Stat leaders for Jamer Irwin are Joelle Hassler (Sr) who has 8 stolen bases, 8 runs, 7 hits and 5 RBI, Cameo Murray (So) who has 5 stolen bases, Savannah Lopez (Sr) who has 4 stolen bases and 4 hits, Stella Reed (So) who has 8 runs, 6 hits and 6 RBI, Jasleen Deleon (Jr) who has 8 runs and Anastasia Mercado (Jr) who has 5 RBI.
Western Slope
Montezuma-Cortez (6-8)
Montezuma-Cortez is currently the leader in the Western Slope League with a 6-8 overall record and a 5-2 league record. This week was not a smooth one for the Panthers as all of their games resulted in losses, doubling their losses for the season. They faced TCA and lost 11-2, Niwot and fell 16-5, Silver Creek and lost 13-3, and Durango in a close battle of 5-4. The Panthers will be looking for revenge this week and will have a fire under them to get a win. They will be facing Basalt in a league game on 9/14 at home where they will be looking to turn their fortune around.
Leading Montezuma-Cortez on the stat board so far this year is Aubrey Rutherford (Sr) who has 3 home runs, 6 stolen bases, 24 runs and 18 RBI, Nevaeh Istenes (Sr) who has 1 home run, 6 stolen bases, 15 runs, and 19 RBI, Saylor Martinez (So) who has 1 home run, Abigail Coffey (Sr) who has 2 stolen bases and 16 runs, Devyn Cornett (Sr) who has a 4.08 ERA, 22 hits, and 18 RBI, and Emily Carver (Sr) who has 19 hits.
Meeker (6-5)
After last week, Meeker is currently 2nd in the Western Slope League. The team is currently 4-2 in league play and are 6-5 overall. The Cowboys played a double header against Basalt last week and were able to get the win in both games, 17-11 and 10-5. Meeker will not have another game until 9/18 and they will play Rifle.
Leading the team so far for Meeker are Ashlynn Ducey (Sr) who has 1 home run, 5 stolen bases, 16 runs, and 16 RBI, Kayla Castillo (So) who has 6 stolen bases, Miah Wren (Sr) who has 5 stolen bases, 21 runs, 21 hits, and 11 RBI, Addie Knowles (Jr) who has a 6.71 ERA and 16 hits, Miley Chism who has 17 runs, Emma Bauer (Jr) who has 17 hits, and Autumn Stallings (Jr) who has 13 RBI.
Colorado
Skyview (0-6)
Skyview currently sits at 0-6 on the season and 0-1 in league play. With only one league game under their belt, the Wolverines are currently 2nd in the Colorado League. Last week, the team lost to Thornton 0-12, and yesterday, they played against Adams City. The standings could be different and Skyview could have a win, however the scores between the team and Gateway and Adams City have yet to be reported. This week, the Wolverines will face off against Resurrection Christian at home on 9/12, Overland on the road on 9/14 and Aurora Central on the road on 9/17.
Topping the leader board for Skyview so far this season are Dayana Gomez (Fr) who has 5 stolen bases and 4 runs, Giannah Chavez (Jr) who has 3 stolen bases, 2 runs, 7 hits and 3 RBI, Aaliyah Chavez (Fr) who has 1 stolen base, Audrey Ketteler (Jr) who has 2 runs, Makayla Florez (Fr) who has 6 hits and 1 RBI, Nevaeh Nevares (Jr) who has 5 hits and Itzel Herrera (Sr) who has 1 RBI.
CSML North
The Classical Academy (5-4)
TCA is currently 2nd in the CSML League with a 5-4 overall record and a 1-0 league record to start league play. This last week, the Titans were able to get the win over Montezuma-Cortez (11-2), Mullen (12-7) and Sierra (14-0), but fell to Silver Creek (9-6) and Niwot (12-1). TCA will be facing off against Sand Creek on 9/12 at home, will have Woodland Park in a double header on the road on 98/14, will see Rampart at home on 9/16 and Mitchell in a league game on the road on 9/17. The Titians will be looking to get as many wins as they cam to maintain their position or take the top spot in league.
Leading the Titans this season are Ada Wilson (So) who has 1 home run, 3 stolen bases, a 4.86 ERA, 10 runs, 10 hits, and 10 RBI, Veronica Santos (Sr) who has 1 home run and 9 RBI, Taytum Kimbro (Fr) who has 2 stolen bases, 12 runs, 13 hits and 13 RBI, Aubrey Lewis (So) who has 1 stolen base, and Adelynn Miller (So) who has 10 runs, and 11 hits.
Sand Creek (4-5)
Sand Creek is currently 4-5 overall after losing to Elizabeth yesterday in their first league game of the season 13-3. Last week was not the most successful for Sand Creek as they did get the win against James Irwin who won 13-1, but lost Mesa Ridge 7-1, Lamar 7-3 and Canon City 13-4. The Scorpions will be looking to have a better week this week and will be facing TCA on 9/12, Widefield on 9/13, and Falcon on 9/17.
Topping the teams stat leader board for the team is Jaida Moody (So) who has 6 stolen bases, 14 runs, and 5 hits, Sailor Livingston (Fr) who has 4 stolen bases, a 2.88 ERA, and 10 runs, Alayna Andersen (Fr) who has 2 stolen bases, 4 hits and 8 RBI, Kayla Dempsey (So) who has 9 runs, 11 hits, and 10 RBI, and Genevieve Villegas (Fr) who has 6 RBI.
Denver Prep
Kennedy (4-6)
Kennedy currently has a 4-6 overall record for the season and went 2-2 this last week on their games but was able to get a very important first league game win yesterday against Denver West. This last week, the Commanders were able to beat Jefferson Academy (15-2) and Denver West (15-1) but fell to Englewood (9-4) and Peak to Peak (14-1). With their first league game win, Kennedy is currently in 1st in the Denver Prep League. This week, the Commanders will face off against Denver North at home on 9/11, Lincoln on 9/13, and Adams City on 9/16.
Stat leaders for the Commanders are Amerie Herrera (So) who has 2 home runs, an 8 .34 ERA, 10 runs and 8 RBI, Genesis Lujan (Jr) who has 1 home run, 9 stolen bases, an 8.40 ERA, 19 runs, 14 hits and 12 RBI, Alexiah Lunas (Jr) who has 1 home run, 7 stolen bases, 11 runs, 15 hits, and 14 RBI, Aleeyah Garcia (Fr) who has 7 stolen bases, and Giana Valdez (Jr) who has 8 hits.
Lincoln (0-3)
With no league games played yet, Lincoln is currently tied with Kennedy for 1st in the Denver Prep League, however, Lincoln has a 0-3 overall record which drops them in rankings. Lincoln lost last week to Alameda (17-3), Arvada ( 15-0), and Peak to Peak (19-0). The battle for first place in the league will be settled this week when the Lancers play Kennedy on 9/12 at home. Lincoln will be looking to get not only their first win of the season, but also that number one spot in league.
Frontier
Arvada (6-2)
The Bulldogs are currently 3rd in the Frontier League behind Centaurus after going 2-1 in league play and beating Platte Canyon 18-3 and Alameda 11-1. Arvada is 6-1 overall after beating Alameda on 9/5 and 9/7, 11-1 and 12-1, Peak to Peak 13-1, Lincon 15-0, and Jefferson Academy 14-3. Last night, the Bulldogs faced off against Fort Lupton and lost 2-12, dropping Arvada from their 2nd place league rank. This week Arvada will be playing against Bennett in league play on 9/12 and Centaurus on 9/17.
Leading the stat board for the Bulldogs are Amiah Pacaso (Jr) who has 2 home runs, 5 stolen bases, 11 hits, and 13 RBI, Hailey Lesperance (Sr) who has 1 home run, 6 stolen bases, a 4.40 ERA, and 11 runs, Alicia Montoya (Sr) who has 7 stolen bases, Alyssa Moreno (Jr) who has a 7.27 ERA, 8 hits and 11 RBI, Salem Duran (So) who has 9 runs and 6 hits, Janie Binns (Jr) who has 1 home run, and Zylaysha Gambrell (Jr) who has 10 runs and 8 RBI.
Englewood (5-6)
The Pirates are currently sitting in 4th in the Frontier league with a 5-6 overall record and a 3-2 league record with reported scores. Englewood had a busy week but was able to get wins over Jefferson (13-2), Kennedy (9-4) and Bennett (10-8), but fell to Jefferson Academy 18-6 (scores against Gateway and Battle Mountain not reported). This week, Englewood will be looking to climb up the league rankings and add another win to their record when they face Middle Park on 9/17 on the road.
Stat leaders for the Pirates this far in the season are Sloan Stevens with 6 stolen bases, 4 runs and 2 RBI, Marli Lighthill (So) who has 5 stolen bases, 5 runs, and 3 hits, Genevieve Holscher (So) who has 3 stolen bases and 2 runs, Nevaeh Vigil (Fr) who has 3 hits and 1 RBI, Ryan Lighthill (So) who has 2 hits, and Xalynn Sandoval (Fr) who has 2 RBI.
Longs Peak
Wellington (6-5)
Wellington is currently on a five game winning streak after losing to Northridge last week 12-2. The Eagles have been able to beat Burlington 15-0, Platte Valley 19-0, Limon 17-3, Brush 4-3 and Mountain View 18-4. This leaves Wellington with a 6-5 overall record so far this season with a 1-3 league record, placing them in 6th in the Longs Peak League. This week the Eagles will have several league games and will play against Greeley Central on 9/12, Timnath on 9/14 and Thompson Valley on 9/17 where the Eagles will be looking for wins to move up in league rankings.
Leading the teams so far this season are Kensley Story (Jr) who has 2 home runs, 16 hits, and 17 RBI, Kiley Newberry (So) who has 10 stolen bases, Charley Somday (So) who has 9 stolen bases, 13 runs and 8 hits, Reganne Johnson (So) who has 4 stolen bases, Jasmine Tafoya (Sr) who has a 1.24 ERA and 10 hits, London Morgan (Fr) who has an 11.05 ERA, Taylor Morgan (Jr) who has a 3.90 ERA and 9 RBI, Alanna Sandlian (Fr) who has 8 runs and 4 RBI, and Camryn Strain (So) who has 8 runs.
Greeley Central (2-8)
The Wildcats are having a hard time finding momentum this season and are currently on an eight game losing streak. This last week, Greeley Central fell to Roosevelt 24-0, Severance 19-0 and Northridge 21-0. This leaves the Wildcats with a 2-8 overall record and 0-5 in league play. With about half of the season left to go, Greeley Central will be looking to snap their losing streak and add some wins to their record this week when they face Wellington on 9/12, Mountain View on 9/14, and Aurora Central on 9/16.
Stat leaders for Greeley Central are Ziva Travis (Fr) who has 3 stolen bases, 6 hits and 6 RBI, Sophia Romey (Jr) who has 3 stolen bases, Rory Weizenegger (Sr) who has 3 stolen bases, 7 hits and 8 RBI, Rayna Reiber (Jr) who has 3 runs, Alyea Moline-Haney (Jr) who has 3 runs and 4 RBI, and Jennifer Brandrup (Sr) who has 5 hits.
Granite Peak
Skyline (1-6)
The Falcons currently have a 1-6 overall record and a 0-3 league record. They sit 13th in the Granite Peak League, but with several teams in this league, Skyline has several chances to move up in the ranks. Last week, Skyline fell to Erie 22-0 and yesterday they fell to Legacy 18-3. Tomorrow will be another league game for the Falcons against Holy Family on the road. Later this week, the team will see Greeley West on 9/13 and Mead on 9/17. Skyline will be looking to get more wins to add to their record.
At the top of the stat board for Skyline sits Victoria Safranek (So) who has 1 home run, 3 runs, 6 hits and 4 RBI, Lillyanne Gooden (So) who has 1 stolen base and 3 runs, Ariday Landeros (So) who has 1 stolen base, Mayra Salomon (Sr) who has 3 runs, Bryleigh Frank (Fr) who has 3 hits and 2 RBI, Nayeli Lara-Fernandez (Jr) who has 1 hit and Alexia Castaneda (So) who has 1 RBI.
