6-Man League Predictions Update & Playoff Projections Week 6

Every year during the preseason I give my league prediction. This year I am going to update them just one time before we enter league play. I will have my original predictions so you can compare from the preseason. I will also just quickly breakdown each league. I will also update the 16 teams I think make the playoffs. At the end I will have the playoff projections for if the season ended today! Good Luck to all teams.

Central League

No a ton of changes from the preseason to week 6. Hanover and Kiowa are still my picks to finish in 1^st and 2^nd place. Only change is Manzanola moving up to finish fourth in league over Miami-Yoder. Manzanola already defeated Miami-Yoder. Playoff contenders currently are just Hanover and Kiowa.

League Champion: Hanover

East Central League

The East Central league so far has proven to be the toughest league in 6-Man. My predictions remain the same from the preseason to Week 6. So far, the results for the league matchups have gone as we thought, and Stratton and Idalia are still my picks to finish in 1^st and 2^nd place. Stratton, Idalia, Otis, and Arickaree are all playoff contenders. Genoa-Hugo could find themselves in the mix, but I think will be on the outside looking in.

My predictions for the East Central League

League Champion: Stratton

Playoff Contenders: Stratton, Idalia, Otis, Arickaree

North League

The North League so far has the most changes from the preseason till today. Fleming has taken the early advantage in league. Caliche will still get their shot at the top 2 teams I have picked. Currently 5 teams from the North League are in the hunt for the playoffs. Fleming, Prairie, Caliche, Peetz, and Briggsdale are all in the hunt for the playoffs.

League Champion: Fleming

Playoff Contenders: Fleming, Prairie, Caliche, Peetz, Briggsdale

Southeast League

The Southeast League has been one of the best in 6-Man. Currently the only change is Granada finishing in second and Eads finishing in 3^rd. Eads has been hit hard by the injury bug but are still a threat. Currently 5 teams look to be in the hunt for the playoffs. Cheyenne Wells, Granada, Eads, Cheraw, and Kit Carson are all in the playoff hunt. Walsh could get into the mix but will need an upset or two to push for the top 16.

My predictions for the East League

League Champion: Cheyenne Wells

Playoff Contenders: Cheyenne Wells, Granada, Eads, Cheraw, Kit Carson

Southwest League

The Southwest League remains a very competitive league and we will see how things shake out. I have moved the top 3 around but I could see Sierra Grande, Branson/Kim, or Primero winning the league. Those same three schools are also the only schools who are playoff contenders.

My predictions for the Southwest League

League Champion: Sierra Grande

Playoff Contenders: Branson/Kim, Sierra Grand, Primero

Playoff Predictions

These are the 16 teams I think will make the playoffs, no particular order.

Stratton, Cheyenne Wells, Granada, Idalia, Sierra Grande, Primero, Hanover, Otis, Arickaree, Fleming, Branson/Kim, Eads, Prairie, Cheraw, Caliche, Kit Carson

Kit Carson and Peetz will be very close for the final spot but also don’t count out Kiowa if they can go on a run.

Just Outside

Peetz, Kiowa, Manzanola, Briggsdale,

Remember to qualify for the playoffs you MUST Finish in the Top 16 of the CHSAA Seeding Index or WIN your league title. We have a month left of the regular season. These are early projections and expect big changes week to week. Good Luck to all teams!

This is if the season ended today 10/1/2024. Using the CHSAA Seeding Index I will come up with the Playoff field. League Champions selected with my Predictions. I will seed & select the bracket with the CHSAA Seeding Index. Remember this is still very early and things will change. The league champions I selected are at the top with the at-large berths following.
