Class 2A League Predictions Update & Playoff Projections Week 6

Every year during the preseason I give my league prediction. This year I am going to update them just one time before we enter league play. I will have my original predictions so you can compare from the preseason. I will also just quickly breakdown each league. I will also update the 16 teams I think make the playoffs. At the end I will have the playoff projections for if the season ended today! Good Luck to all teams.

East League

Plenty of changes in the East league. Kent Denver is on a bit of a slide, and they drop to #3. Strasburg and Elizabeth both slide up a spot and I now have Strasburg as winning the league. I think 4 teams are in the mix for the playoffs. Strasburg, Elizabeth, Kent Denver, and Englewood are all in the playoff mix.

My predictions for the East League

League Champion: Strasburg

Playoff Contenders: Strasburg, Elizabeth, Kent Denver, Englewood

Intermountain League

The IML has the biggest changes, and I still think we will see changes before the end of the year. Gunnison takes the biggest drop from winning to finishing in 6^th. Gunnison has been hit hard by injuries and if they get healthy could easily see them into #3 or #4. Currently only Gunnison is probably outside the mix for the playoffs. The rest of this league still needs to sort itself out and I think we will see it after the first week of the league.

My predictions for the Intermountain League

League Champion: Pagosa Springs

Playoff Contenders: Pagosa Springs, Alamosa, Salida, Montezuma-Cortez, Bayfield

League 7

This is another league that is very up in the air. Brush, I think at 0-4 is still in the mix for a playoff spot and the league title. I also think Weld Central and Fort Lupton could also be in the mix. Currently I have Sterling winning the league, but I am very unsure of this league.

My predictions for League 7

League Champion: Sterling

Playoff Contenders: Sterling, Brush, Weld Central, Fort Lupton, The Academy

Metro League

We have some changes in the Metro League, but I think spots #2 and #3 are up for grabs. The real questions is can anyone besides TCA push for a playoff spot. Denver West is in very good shape moving into league play at 4-0 but they will need to finish in second place for league or tumble out of the top 16. D’Evelyn could quickly move up the seeding index with some wins after a tough non-league schedule.

North League

I think the North League is a candidate for the best league in Class 2A. Honestly spots #1 thru #5 are up in the air as we head into league and I believe the top 5 teams in league could all get into the playoffs. I truly think my predictions will be wrong for this league as depth and experience will be key to surviving the toughest league in Class 2A.

League Champion: Wellington

Southeast League

The Southeast League has a few surprises like Lamar entering league play at 4-0. I think we will still see a battle for the league title between any of these 6 teams. Woodland Park remains my pick as they are probably the least talked about 4-0 team entering league play.

My predictions for Southwest League

West League

I think the West League could be a great race! I think Delta and Basalt are favorites for the top two spots but after that Moffat County, Aspen, and Coal Ridge will battle it out for the next three spots and possibly playoff spots. I think at least three teams make it to the playoffs but a fourth will be determined during league play.

Playoff Contenders: Delta, Basalt, Moffat County, Coal Ridge, Aspen

Playoff Predictions

Because Class 2A is so uncertain I am doing my playoff prediction teams a bit different. I am going to have teams I think are locks to make the playoffs, In the Mix, and uncertain. Uncertain will have a lot of teams in this category. A lot will be decided by league play and that is why I will have so many teams in this category. The second half of Class 2A will be a blast!

Locks-Strasburg, Classical Academy, Pagosa Springs, Basalt, Berthoud, Wellington, University, Delta

In the Mix-Elizabeth, Sterling, Eaton, Resurrection Christian, Alamosa

Uncertain-Lamar, Denver West, Coal Ridge, The Academy, La Junta, The Academy, Fort Lupton, Weld Central, Salida, Aspen, Moffat County, Montezuma-Cortez, Bayfield, Kent Denver, Brush, D’Evelyn

I am very unsure about Class 2A. You could see teams really take a tumble if they are upset. I think the first week of league play really shows us who is in the mix and not.

Class 2A Football Playoff Projections & Predictions Week 5

This year to reach the playoffs is simple. Either win your league title or be inside the top 16 of the CHSAA Seeding Index. After they select the 16 teams that make the playoffs, they use the CHSAA Seeding Index to seed the playoffs.

Class 2A Playoff Projections (IF the Season Ended Today)

This is if the season ended today 10/1/2024. Using the CHSAA Seeding Index I will come up with the Playoff field. League Champions selected with my Predictions. I will seed & select the bracket with the CHSAA Seeding Index. Remember this is still early and things will change. The league champions I selected are at the top with the at-large berths following.
