Class 2A Football Playoff Projections Week 10

This year to reach the playoffs is simple. Either win your league title or be inside the top 16 of the CHSAA Seeding Index. If you are a league champion outside the top 16, you will replace the lowest team in the CHSAA Seeding Index. After they select the 16 teams that make the playoffs, they use the CHSAA Seeding Index to seed the playoffs. This week I will be giving my predictions on who makes the playoffs, but I will also look at if the season ended today who would make the playoffs at the end. Good Luck to all teams.

Class 2A Playoff Predictions (Who I think make the playoffs)

This is who I think make the playoffs and who win the leagues. In Class 2A all-league champions are guaranteed a berth. The rest will be selected by CHSAA Seeding Index. Seeding is determined by CHSAA Seeding Index. I am picking my 9 At-Large teams via non-league schedules, remaining schedules, and how I think teams will do. Expect changes week to week especially making these projections/predictions so early. League Champions are posted first then the At-Large Teams.

Playoff Hunt for Final Spots

Resurrection Christian, University, Kent Denver, Aspen

If you want my honest opinion, I am not comfortable with anyone team past Delta. I think from Delta up they are locks in the Playoffs. Denver West scores me because their RPI is held up by their WP and if they lose to D’Evelyn they could tumble all the way out of the top 16, simple Denver West wins they are in. Pagosa Springs and Alamosa play each other. I do think if Alamosa wins, Pagosa Springs can still get in as the #16 seed. Things really get blown up if Cortez losses to Gunnison, then another team could sneak in, and Cortez will fall out of the top 16. The Academy must win against Brush! If they lose, they will fall out. Rez Christian and University play each other, and the winner could get enough of a boost to get into the playoffs especially if Pagosa beats Alamosa or Denver West or The Academy fall. Kent Denver only hopes of getting in is to upset Elizabeth. They would force a three-way tie for the league crown and would easily jump up the league standings, a loss for Kent Denver and they won’t get in. Aspen has one route into the playoffs and that is to upset Basalt. I will go into more depth in my 2A weekly article out tomorrow, but this is a good summary.

I will seed & select the bracket with the CHSAA Seeding Index. Remember this is still very early and things will change. The league champions I selected are at the top with the at-large berths following.
