Class 3A Regional Volleyball Predictions
Here are my Predictions on who is going to win the 12 regionals taking place this weekend. I will give a quick breakdown of why I am picking each team to win. Full Preview of the Class 3A Regional was posted earlier today.
Region 1
Winner: Eaton
Eaton got revenge for their lone loss on the season and have proven to be one of the best teams in Class 3A.
Region 2
Winner: Platte Valley
Platte Valley is tied 1-1 with Eaton to be the best team in Class 3A. Platte Valley will be looking to advance to the state tournament.
Region 3
Winner: Village
Village is a new school to the Class 3A scene but they have been one of the top teams. Village went to an out of state tournament and defeated some of the top teams from state near by. Village also ended the season with a western slope road trip defeating Montrose, Grand Junction Central, and Palisade.
Region 4
Winner: Alamosa
Alamosa has been one of the top teams in Class 3A and have the talent to legitimately challenge for the state title. They did not get an easy draw though for regionals drawing Valley who is a tough team from the Patriot League. This will be a good challenge for Alamosa after falling to a Patriot team last year at regionals.
Region 5
Winner: Gunnison
Gunnison looks to make a return trip to state. Gunnison drew fellow western slope league team North Fork but also drew Vanguard who was a top 5 teams in the Tri-Peaks. Gunnison will be tested at regionals.
Region 6
Winner: Lamar
Lamar, I believe got a great draw for regionals. Lamar drew Windsor Charter who had a great season but are not a traditional power and Lamar also drew DSST-Montview who was second in the City League. Lamar is a traditional power looking to make a run at state.
Region 7
Winner: Resurrection Christian
Resurrection Christian will be the favorite in this regional. Middle Park has been a top 20 season all year and they will look to pull a huge upset at regionals. Resurrection Christian is looking for another deep run in the state tournament this year.
Region 8
Winner: Sterling
I think Sterling had a great draw for Regionals. St. Mary’s Academy is playing their best Volleyball as they jumped from #25 in the Seeding Index to #17. STEM Highlands also makes a appearance in the state tournament after winning their league.
Region 9
Winner: Peak to Peak
Peak to Peak have a pair of Western Slope teams at the regionals and both will look to pull the upset. Cedaredge, I think have the best shot but I think Peak to Peak get to the state tournament.
Region 10
Winner: Bayfield
My first upset pick for Class 3A regionals. Bayfield has played Alamosa tough and will look to knock off a Metro School team to get back to the state tournament. Bayfield was a traditional power for Volleyball and are looking to get back to that status.
Region 11
Winner: Bennett
This is a very tough region. Centauri was a state tournament team from last season, and I think could pull the upset as the #26 seed. The Academy also is a tough team who will look to challenge Bennett. I just think Bennett has enough weapons to get by both teams and advance. Don’t be surprised if a upset happens here.
Region 12
Winner: Strasburg
Strasburg vs TCA could be the best match of the regional round. TCA is playing their best Volleyball especially after knocking off 4A Falcon. Strasburg has played the tough Patriot League schedule and should help them reach the state tournament.
