Class 2A Football Playoff Predictions First Round and Full Bracket
First, this is just my opinion. I would love to hear or see your thoughts on how the 2A bracket turns out. Second, Good Luck to all teams! I do not cheer against any teams. A Full Preview of all matchups will be posted tomorrow.
Class 2A Playoff Predictions 1st Round Only
Class 2A has been one of the hard Classes to fill out and I expect every game to be a good one. I can see a case for at least 10 or 11 if not more teams to win the state title. This is going to be one of the more exciting playoff battles and expect upsets last year was crazy with upsets expect the same this year.
#1 Strasburg over #16 Denver West
Strasburg finished second in their league and ended the season on a very nice winning streak. I don’t think they get challenged by Denver West in the first round and expect Strasburg to advance.
#9 Wellington over #8 Delta Best Game of the First Round
This is not a game that should be happening in the first round, but here we are. I believe these are two of the top 6 teams in Class 2A. This is going to be a slug fest with whoever controls the line of scrimmage winning this game. This was easily the hardest prediction for me in the first round and the best game of the first round.
#13 Eaton over #4 Elizabeth 4th Best Game of the First Round
If last season was any indication, it’s that Eaton comes to play in the playoffs. Elizabeth will be looking to snap a first-round exit streak and Eaton will be looking for the upset. I expect a great game here between two different styles of play.
#12 Alamosa over #5 Lamar 2nd Best Game of the First Round
The 5 vs 12 matchup is always one to watch and I expect a great battle here. Both teams love to spread things out and throw but Alamosa could have the advantage if the weather is bad in terms of being able to run the ball. Expect a great matchup between two great QBs.
#2 Basalt over #15 The Academy
Basalt comes in undefeated, and they picked up solid wins during the league play run. The Academy will be looking to pull a huge upset, but they will have to bring their hard hats to be able to stop a very tough running team. I like Basalt to walk away with a big win in this game.
#7 Woodland Park over #10 Sterling 3rd Best Game of the First Round
Another fantastic matchup in the first round. Both teams bring a physical style of play to the field, and I think this is a low scoring game. Sterling may be playing their best Football of the season, and they have started to find some balance between running and throwing. Woodland Park will have to be physical upfront, and I think their defense will rise to the occasion. Expect a good one in this game.
#6 Berthoud over #11 Montezuma-Cortez
Two different styles of play come to the table in this game. Berthoud looks to throw the ball around the field and Montezuma-Cortez rarely throws the ball and leans on their rushing attack to lead the way. I know I don’t have this labeled as a top game, but I think this will be another great matchup and if the weather is crap it will be interesting how Berthoud adjusts because running the football easily adapts to bad weather.
#3 Classical Academy over #14 Pagosa Springs
I feel like I am repeating myself when I say this is another great game. Early in the season Pagosa Springs looked to be a top team in Class 2A after defeating Elizabeth. If Pagosa Springs can get back to that form, they could be a hard out against any team. TCA has been constant since the beginning of the season. They will be a tough out but if the weather is bad how does that change the TCA offense.
Class 2A Entire Bracket Filled Out
Here is my entire bracket picked. I am not sure if I even want to share my 2A Bracket because I see so many different ways this can go.
