
Class 1A Football Preview-Semifinals Round

Playoff Football is upon us. Four teams remain and they will battle for a chance to play in Pueblo next weekend. The State Championship will be played at Dutch Clark Stadium in Pueblo at 12pm. Good Luck to all Four Teams this weekend!
#1 Wray at #5 Buena Vista, Saturday 11/23 at 1pm (We will be at this game on Saturday)
Wray continued their quest for a state title defeating Highland 41 to 8 in the Quarterfinals. Wray was up just 14 to 0 at halftime before exploding to 20 points in the third Quarter. Wray defensively played outstanding holding Highland to 0 points until they passed the 41 points mark themselves. Tavery Chappell had a big day with 9 tackles, 1 TFL, and 1 sack. Samuel Meisner, Casey Midcap, and Austin Collins were all big pieces of the defense all had over 6 tackles in the game. Offensively things did not click in the first half but got going in the second half. RB Austin Collins had his best game of the season rushing for 111 yards and 2 TDs. QB Casey Midcap continues to play well throwing for 177 yards, rushing for 73 yards, and 4 Total TDs. RB Samuel Meisner (17/99/0) and WR Aaron Tena (6/90/1) were also impact players for the Eagles.
Buena Vista moved into the Semifinals with a dominate performance over Holyoke 35 to 7. Buena Vista had a huge bounce back after scraping by Burlington in the opening round. Buena Vista took at 14-point lead into halftime. Holyoke would quickly cut into the lead throwing for a TD with around 6 minutes left. Buena Vista would wake up after that scoring a TD before the end of the third quarter pushing it back to a 21 to 7 lead. The rushing attack of the Demons was the main factor as Buena Vista ran for 4 rushing TDs in the game. Defensively Buena Vista played excellent against the pass with four sacks. No stats have been input for Buena Vista in the game.
Series: These two teams have met just once since 2004. Buena Vista defeated Wray 33 to 8 back in 2012.
#2 Forge Christian vs #3 Limon, Saturday 11/23 at 1pm
Forge Christian punched their ticket to the Semifinals with a 41 to 0 win over Meeker in the Quarterfinals. Forge Christian was in a tight contest thru the first quarter leading Meeker 7 to 0. Forge Christian would wake up in the second quarter getting a pair of TDs one of which was a 53 second drive just before halftime. Forge Christian had a huge offensive day racking up 453 yards of total offense. QB Sullivan Strange had a very productive day, going 10 to 13 for 208 yards and 2 TDs. WR Quentin Torres was the main target of Strange with 5 receptions for 118 yards and a TD. RB Dante Vigil was also productive rushing the ball, rushing for 90 yards and 2 TDs. Defensively Forge Christian played well keeping Meeker off the scoreboard and holding the Cowboys to under 150 rushing yards. Dante Vigil (15 tackles) and Carson Craig (13 tackles) were the leading tacklers for Forge Christian. Craig (INT) and Brenden Hardy (Fumble Recovery) also had a pair of turnovers for the Fury.
Limon advanced into the Semifinals squaring off against league rival Wiggins and walking away with a 21 to 12 win. Limon has looked to their defense to power them this postseason. Limon forced 3 turnovers in the game to keep Wiggins off the board until late. Nelson Sontay, Camdyn Tacha, and Liam Yoder all had turnovers for the Badgers in the game. Liam Yoder, Drey Tacha, and Kamden Kenny each had 11 tackles for Limon to power the defense. Offensively Limon had 264 yards of total offense. RB Skylur McCready powered the rushing attack with 80 yards and 2 TDs. QB Aiden Kollath also was impactful passing for 115 yards and 1 TD. Jacob Jaklich had the lone receiving TD and lead all targets with 35 yards receiving.
