8-Man Playoff Predictions State Championship
#1 Haxtun over #3 Akron
The Plains League is back on top after back-to-back years of the Mountain League winning the State Championship. Haxtun makes the return into the state title matchup after falling short last season and Akron makes it first trip back to the State Championship since 2016 when they fell to league rival Sedgwick County. This will be a rematch from the regular season when Haxtun defeated Akron 48 to 0. I think a big takeaway from that game was a key injury to QB Kolter Randel from Akron who will be playing on defense for the Rams this week. Haxtun is also fully healthy, and I expect both teams to have their best foot forward. Experience could be the biggest advantage that Haxtun has and that will matter when it comes to the big game. I am looking forward to seeing both teams in Pueblo on Friday. I expect a much closer score than 48 to 0 of the first meeting. Good Luck to both teams and leave it all on the field!
