Girls Basketball Class 1A Regional Projections Week 5
For my projections I am using the CHSAA Seeding and Selection Index. I am going to be predicting the League Champions. Remember to qualify for Regionals you must be ranked inside the top 32 or win your League (If you have 5 or more teams). At the end I pick the 8 teams I think make it to state based on my projections.

Class 1A
- League Champions earn an automatic berth in the playoffs as long as they win their league outright. Each league must have a minimum of 5 teams in it for an automatic berth.
- Seeding Criteria for the 32-team state bracket-CHSAA Seeding & Selection Index published after the regular season. Seeds 9-16 are true seeded except to try and avoid league matchups in the First Round Only. Teams may be moved one spot up or down. Seeds 17-32 may be moved up to two spots based upon geography & League matchups.
- First Two Rounds of the state tournament (Regionals) will be hosted by the top seed in that quadrant of the bracket, over two days. (4-teams total).
- Top 8 teams will advance through the bracket. The bracket Will Not be reseeded before State. Class 1A Great 8 will play a full consolation bracket.
League Champion Predictions
3A/2A/1A San Juan League: 2A Team Wins (Dove Creek)
Dove Creek is my early pick to win the San Juan League. Nucla will provide the biggest challenge for the league crown.
3A/2A/1A Mile High League: 3A Team Wins (Lyons)
Lyons is my current pick to win the Mile High League. Flatirons Academy, Heritage Christian, Gilpin County, and Union Colony Prep will all challenge for the league crown.
2A/1A Western Slope League: 2A Team Wins (Rangely)
Rangely is my pick to win the Western Slope. The lone 1A team in the mix will be De Beque who is off to a 1-0 start in league.
2A/1A West Central: Cotopaxi (Will not get an automatic berth)
Cotopaxi is the early favorite to win the West Central League. They will be challenged by Custer County & South Park (2A) for the league title.
2A/1A Union Pacific League: Stratton
Stratton is my early pick to win the Union Pacific League. They will be tested by a tough league including 2A Burlington, 1A Flagler, 1A Deer Trail, and 2A Byers.
1A YWKC League: Idalia
Idalia is my pick for the league title. Hi-Plains and Otis will challenge for the league crown.
1A Southern Peaks: Sierra Grande
Sierra Grande is my pick to win the SPL still. Moffat, Sangre, and Creede could all challenge for the league crown.
1A North Central: Fleming
Fleming gets my nod for the league title. Prairie and Briggsdale will push Fleming for the league title.
2A/1A Lower Platte: 2A Team Wins (Sedgwick County)
Sedgwick County is my pick to win the league. 1A Caliche will be a threat for the league title.
1A High Plains: McClave
McClave is considered the top team in Class 1A. They are also my pick to win the league title. Cheyenne Wells, Cheraw, Eads, Kit Carson, and Granada will all threaten for the league title.
1A Fisher Peaks: La Veta (Will not get an automatic berth)
La Veta is my pick to win the league title. I am not sure if they will be tested in league play.
1A Black Forrest: Evangelical Christian
ECA is my early pick to win the league title. We will see comes up as a threat for the league title.
1A Ark Valley: Springfield
Springfield is my pick for the league title. Kim/Branson will have the biggest say in it but also Holly and South Baca.
5280 League: Mile High Academy
First Four Out
Primero (33), South Baca (34), Weldon Valley (35), Denver Waldorf (36)
Bracket- League matchups will be avoided in the first round only. 8 Regional winners qualifying for state. State will not be re-seeded! And play a consolation bracket!
