The top two teams in the CHSAA Selection and Seeding Index remain unchanged from a week ago, as both continue to rack up wins without a loss. McClave and Stratton will meet later this month, but both could be tested this weekend.

Stratton used a big 28-8 second half on Tuesday to move past Cheyenne Wells 53-34. Sophia Isenbart had 21 points for the Lady Eagles, while Paige Ryser led the Lady Tigers with 10. For the Lady Eagles, that contest split up a run of four games against the 2A LPAA. Stratton beat Holyoke and Akron last weekend, and will travel to Sedgwick County on Thursday before returning home to host Merino on Saturday.
Fleming gets its first test in the North Central on Friday, with Prairie coming to town. The visitors had a wild weekend, trouncing Arickaree/Woodlin and then falling to Haxtun. The swings that come with a young roster…
After pushing McClave to the limit in a 41-35 loss last Friday, Eads bounced back with a nice 55-44 win over Evangel Christian Academy in a top-10 showdown the next night. The Lady Eagles host Wiley on Thursday and the gear up for next weekend that includes non-league clashes with Stratton and Idalia.
Springfield has lost two straight heading into Thursday’s rematch with McClave, the first of which was the aforementioned LHT title game. Last weekend, the Lady Longhorns dropped a 52-29 decision at Cheyenne Wells. Cobi Mackey had 17 for Springfield in that contest.
Idalia pushed its winning streak to three last weekend, taking victories over St. Francis and Hi-Plains. Jaylyn Kechter posted a double-double of 18 and 10 in the Friday night win, while Krista Wieser went for 18. Ailyn Monarrez-Estrada made her return from a knee injury almost exactly one full year prior, scoring 16 points over the weekend. The Lady Wolves host Otis on Friday, with the lead in the YWKC at stake.
Flagler remains red-hot, putting wins over Arickaree/Woodlin and Deer Trail on the ledger. That’s six straight for the Lady Panthers, with their lone loss coming in the season opener to Cheyenne Wells. The streak will be tested on Friday, when Flagler travels to Limon, looking to improve to 2-0 in the Union Pacific.
Tuesday’s loss to Stratton snapped a mini two-game winning streak for Cheyenne Wells, who looks to get back on track this weekend with a home game against Holyoke on Friday and a trip to Otis on Saturday. The Lady Tigers are on milestone watch, as Paige Ryser is 29 points shy of 1000 for her career. She is averaging just under 17 points a game this season.
De Beque got 2025 started with a nail-biting 49-48 win over Plateau Valley last Friday. Avery Rigsby led a trio of Lady Dragons in double figures with 13 points. Ava Vines popped in 12 and Ileeyah Herrera added 11. They will try to keep a share of the lead in the Western slope in games against Vail Mountain and North Park this weekend.
After dropping its first game of the season in the 2024 finale against ECA, Cotopaxi opened the new year with wins over Centennial and Sangre de Cristo. Hayden Eggleston flashed for 30 points and seven steals in the first of those victories, then added 27 and 11 in the second. Games against Creede and Antonito are on tap for the weekend.
Nucla started a new winning streak last week, picking up San Juan Basin wins over Ridgway and Mancos. Darcy Bray went for 17 points in the latter of the two wins, while Lantry Galley and Viviana Zurich added 15 and 12, respectively. The Lady Mustangs travel to Ouray on Thursday ahead of next Thursday’s big clash with De Beque.
It’s a big weekend for La Veta, with showdowns against Sargent and Cheraw. Both will be top-20 match-ups. The Lady Redhawks drilled Manzanola 84-5 in their latest outing last Thursday.
