
Class 3A Girls Basketball Weekly Review and Preview
As the season intensifies, teams across the state are battling it out for the top spots, and every week brings us closer to the playoffs. This week we’ll look at the the top 16 teams from CHSAA Seeding Index and see their past week’s games and take a look ahead at what’s in store for the upcoming matchups.

Denver Christian
The Thunder are currently 12-1 on the season and are on a 5 game win streak. These wins have include their most recent games played which were agaisnt Limon (68-13) and league opponent, St. Mary’s Academy (45-20). The last win gave Denver Christian a start on the league rankings and put them in 4th in the Metro League for now. The team will face Kent Denver tonight, who is 6-9 overall, and then the team will go on the road to face DCA(5-6 overall, 4-1 in league) to try to get the edge over them in league, and then will travel to Eagle Ridge Academy on 1/29 who is 4-7 overall.
Centauri
Centauri has an overall record of 10-2 so far with a league record of 2-0 and are currently sitting at the top of the Intermountain League. After a couple of losses to Delta and Montrose, the Falcons were able to get two wins last week over Montezuma-Cortez (55-19), and Bayfield (72-7). Centauri will be looking to continue their success in th league this week as they will host the 4-7 Ignacio Bobcats on 1/24 and then will travel to Monte Vista to take on the 5-4 Pirates on 1/25. Next week, Centauri will face the 8-3 Alamosa Mean Moose on 1/28.
Resurrection Christian
Resurrection Christian remains perfect on the season so far with a 12-0 overall record, a 3-0 league record, and are currently sitting 2nd in the Patriot league behind Strasburg. The three league games for the Cougars were all of their most recent games, where the team was able to get the win over Frontier Academy (91-25), Wray (61-36), and Wiggins (56-41). This Friday, Resurrection Christian will be on the road and will be looking to take the league title from Stasburg, who is currently 8-2 on the season. They will then travel to Windor Charter Academy, who is 7-5, on 1/28.
Cedaredge
Cedagredge continues on with their 11 game win streak after last week where they easily beat their opponents Roaring Fork (78-40) and North Fork (46-16). The Bruins are now 11-0 on the season, 6-0 in league play and so far hold the 1st place title in the Western Slope League. Cedaredge will be facing Grand Valley, who are currently 2-9 on their season, on 1/24 on the road and then will be back home on 1/25 to host Aspen who is 1-7 on the season.
Ellicott
The Ellicott Thunderhawks are 8-2 on the season with a 1-1 league record and are sitting 7th in the Tri-Peaks League. Last week, Ellicott was able to get the win over Liberty Tree Academy 73-4 but fell to league opponent Lamar 29-31. The Thunderhawks will be looking to climb their way up the league rankings this week and will take on the Woodland Park Panthers, who are 0-11 on the season, on 1/24 and then they will travel to Salida to face the 8-2 Spartans on 1/28.
Strasburg
Strasburg is currently 8-2 on the season with a 3-0 league record and currently hold the top spot in the Patriot League. Last week, the Indians were able to beat Woodland Park 67-11 and Windosr Charter Academy 66-32. Strasburg will be looking to hold onto their league title this week as they will host league opponent Resurrection Christian (12-0) on 1/24, and then will travel to face Brush (10-2) on 1/28.
Colorado Springs Christian
The Lions are on a 7 game win streak right now and have a 7-2 overall record, a 4-0 league record and are 2nd in the Tri-Peaks League. Last week, CS Christian was able to get a win over their league opponent Rye (61-18). The Lions will be looking to continue their success and work their way up in league standings this week as they will face the 8-2 Salida Spartans on 1/24 and then the 3-10 Pueblo County Hornets on 1/25.
Salida
Salida is currently 8-2 overall on the season with a 2-1 league record and are sitting 4th in the Tri-Peaks League. The Spartans are currently on a 5 game win streak after beating Woodland Park 67-22 and James Irwin 62-23 last week. Salida will be looking to continue their success and find themselves higher in the league rankings this week as they will take on 7-2 CS Christian on 1/24, 8-7 Summit on 1/25, and 8-2 Ellicott on 1/28.
Manual
Manual presently sits with a 9-1 overall record on the season with a 4-0 league record and are 3rd in the City League. Manuals games last week resulted in wins for the team over Denver West, 59-44, and DSST: Mountview in a close battle of 34-31. This week the Thunderbolts will be taking on 6-4 DSST: Cedar in a league game on 1/24, and then will host 9-3 Kennedy on1/29.
Brush
The Beetdiggers are 10-2 on the season so far with a 3-0 league record and are 3rd in the Patriot League. Last week, Brush was able to get two wins for the record over Yuma, 37-34, and Wray, 45-4. This week, Brush will continue in league play and will be traveling to Wiggins on 1/24 to take on the 7-6 Tigers, and then will host the 8-2, and current league title holder, Strasburg Indians on 1/28.
Yuma
The Outlaws are 7-5 overall on the season with a 2-1 league record and are 5th in the Patriot League, Last week, Yuma fell to Eaton 40-53 but was able to bounce back a couple of days later and get the win over Platte Valley 55-19. This week, Yuma will be looking to continue their success as they take on the 6-5 Highland Huskies on the road on 1/24, and then the undeated Merino Rams on 1/28 at home.
Wiggins
Wiggins is currently 7-6 on the season, 2-2 in league play and are 6th in the Patriot League. The Tigers are in a cold spot of their season, findind tough opponents and have lost the last two games. These games were agaisnt Akron 32-40 and Resurrection Christian 41-56. Wiggins will try to find some success this week as they will take on 10-2 Brush on 1/24 and 5-5 Liberty Common on 1/28.
Roaring Fork
Sitting in 3rd in the Western Slope League with a 4 -1 league record and a 12-1 overall record, Roaring Fork was able to get wins last week and beat Olathe 71-19 and Aspen 61-23. The team will be looking to continue their win streak this week and will face league opponenet Meeker, who is 6-5, at home.
Thomas MacLaren School
The 10-2 Highlanders are currently on an 8 game win streak with a 2-0 league record and are 1st in the Black Forest League. The last two wins for Thomas MacLaren were agaisnt Pikes Peak Christian, 64-14, and Adenbrooke Classical Academy 49-28. This week the Highlanders will play a league game agaisnt the 4-7 Peyton Panthers on 1/23, then they will host the 4-11 Palmer Terrors on 1/25, and then will face 1-6 TCSS Kodiaks on 1/28.
Highland
Highland is 6-5 overall on the season. After getting two wins last week over league opponenets Libery Common (47-19) and Platte Valley (52-47), the Huskies are 2-0 in league play and currently 4th in the Patriot League. Highland will be looking to keep their league success going this week as they will host the 7-5 Yuma Outlaws on 1/24 and then will travel to play the 3-9 Frontier Academy Wolverines on 1/28.
Addenbrooke Classical Academy
The Mustangs are sitting at a solid 10-2 overall record with a 2-0 league record and are 1st in the Foothills League. Addenbrooke Classical had their 10 game win streak broke last week by Thomas MacLaren Shool, who for the win over the Mustangs 49-28. Addenbrooke Classical will be looking to bounce back this week and get a new win streak going as they will take on Regis Groff, who is 5-6 on 1/23 and then will host TPCA on 1/27 who is 5-3 on the season.
