Class 1A Girls Basketball League & Regional Predictions

We have one month left of regular season play and we wanted to update our League Predictions plus update our regional contenders. We will have the 32 teams we think make the playoffs plus We will also list the 3 to 6 players we think are in the hunt for the MHPR Player of the League as well. Remember this is all for fun and we are not cheering against any team.

YWKC League

The YWKC League will get an automatic qualifier into regionals since they have five teams in their league. Idalia remains my pick to win the YWKC league. All 6 teams are still in contention for a regional spot and if the season ended today the entire league would make it to regionals.

The 1A Southern Peaks will get a team automatically into regionals since they have 5 teams. Sierra Grande remains my pick to win the 1A SPL. Sierra Grande, Creede and Centennial are the teams still in the hunt for a regional spot. The rest of the league is out of contention for regionals without a huge upset.

The North Central League will get an automatic berth into regionals because they have 5 teams in their league. Fleming is my new pick to win the North Central League replacing Prairie. Prairie and Briggsdale are still in the mix as well. Fleming, Briggsdale, Prairie, and Weldon Valley are all regional contenders with Peetz being out of contention without a huge upset.

The High Plains League could be one of the top leagues in Class 1A plus will also get an automatic berth into regionals because they have over 5 teams in league. McClave remains my pick to win the High Plains league. All 6 teams are regional contenders and if the season ended today all 6 teams would get to regionals and 3 of the 6 teams would be hosting a region.

The Fishers Peak League will not get an automatic berth into regionals and teams will have to qualify by being in the top 32 of the CHSAA Seeding Index. With just three teams in the league the Fishers Peak league will rely on their out of league schedule to help them get into regionals. La Veta remains my pick to win the Fishers Peak League. La Veta & Primero remain in contention for regionals and Manzanola is out of contention for regionals.

Just two of the 6 teams (ECA & Elbert) are in regional contention unless Miami-Yoder has a big run to end the season. PPK, Hanover, and Colorado D&B are out of regional contention.

All 6 teams are in contention to make it to regionals with Walsh (40) needing the most help. Currently 4 of the 6 teams would make it to regionals from this league.

Mile High Academy and Denver Jewish Day are the only two regional contenders currently with possibly Denver Waldorf getting in the mix if they can get on a run. The rest of the league is out of regional contention.

The 2A/1A West Central will not get an automatic berth into Regional and will have to qualify for Regionals by being ranked inside the top 32 of the CHSAA Seeding Index. South Park is my pick to win the West Central League but they will not get the auto bid. South Park, Cotopaxi, and Custer County are regional contenders with Cripple Creek being on the outside looking in.
