
Class 3A Boys Basketball Weekly Update Week Seven
We one month left of regular season play. Regionals will be March 7th with State the following weekend. We will look at the top 10 teams according to the MileHigh Prep Report Rankings. Good Luck to all teams this weekend.

#1 Resurrection Christian (14-0), Seeding Index #1
Resurrection Christian is the #1 team in Class 3A. They have held that spot for a few weeks now and continue to build their strong resume. Resurrection Christian played two games in the past 7 days defeating #7 Windsor Charter (59-42) and 2A #8 Heritage Christian (81-36). Resurrection Christian has just 1 game this weekend against #4 Forge Christian and then one game on Tuesday against Brush (7-7). Resurrection Christian has 6 games remaining on their schedule and will play in the Patriot League Tournament. Resurrection Christan has easily played one of the toughest schedules in class 3A.

Yuma made the jump from #5 to #2 in the MHPR rankings this week after big upset of former #2 Highland 55 to 41. Yuma also avoided the upset when they defeated 2A Merino 48 to 42. Yuma will have just one game this weekend against Frontier Academy (8-7) and then face Wray (5-10) on Tuesday. Yuma has just 6 games remaining on their schedule. They have 3 high quality opponents left to end the season. Yuma will play in the Patriot League Tournament.

Centauri moved up this week to #3 from #6 in the MHPR rankings. Centauri played two games this past week defeating Monte Vista 59-41 and Alamosa 58-41. Centauri is one of the top defensive teams in Class 3A giving up just 35.9 ppg. Centauri will have just 1 game in the next 7 days as they face 4A Pagosa Springs (4-10) this Saturday. Centauri has 8 games remaining on their schedule and they will not play a tournament to end the season. Centauri has a quality schedule to end the season facing 6+ more quality opponents.

Forge Christian dropped back one spot this week from #3 to #4 in the MHPR rankings. Forge Christian snapped a two-game losing streak as they are playing in probably the second toughest league in Class 3A/4A. Forge Christian this past week lost to Colorado Academy (45-40) then defeated The Academy (82-50). Forge Christian will continue their very tough schedule when they travel to face #1 Resurrection Christian on Saturday then on Tuesday face 4A Prospect Ridge (10-3). Forge Christian has 8 games remaining on their schedule with no tournament schedule at the end of the regular season. Forge Christian remaining 8 games are all quality opponents.

Highland dropped from #2 to #5 this past week in the MHPR rankings after falling to Yuma 55 to 41. This was their first loss of the season and will probably start moving but up the rankings if they can get a run going again. Highland this past week defeated Frontier Academy 85 to 49 to end their losing streak. Highland will face Wray (5-10) on Saturday and then Wiggins (7-8) on Tuesday. Things won’t get much easier for Highland down the stretch as they have 8 games remaining and 6+ of those games will be against quality opponents. Highland will play in the Patriot League Tournament.

Strasburg dropped this week in the MHPR rankings going from #4 to #6. Strasburg suffered their second loss of the season to #1 Resurrection Christian 67 to 51 on 1/24. Strasburg did end their two-game slide on Tuesday when they defeated Brush 68 to 40. Strasburg has just one game this weekend against Liberty Common (9-4) then will face Platte Valley (5-9) on Tuesday. Strasburg has a great schedule to end the year with 7 games remaining and at least 5 of them being against quality opponents. Strasburg will play in the Patriot League Tournament to end the season as well.

Windsor Charter continues to move up the rankings and this week come in at #7. Windsor Charter has a case to be ranked higher and could be next week. Windsor Charter played one game last week and lost to #1 Resurrection Christian 59 to 42 and will be looking to bounce back this weekend. Windsor Charter will face Brush (7-7) today and the Tuesday will face Liberty Common (9-4). Windsor Charter has just 6 games remaining with 5 of the 6 being against quality opponents. Windsor Charter will also take place in the Patriot League Tournament.

Vanguard this weekend will face Buena Vista (8-3) on Saturday. Vanguard will then face a big test when they travel to face 4A Lamar (10-2) on Tuesday. I may have surprised a few people when I ranked Roaring Fork this week at #10. Roaring Fork sits at #18 in the CHSAA Seeding Index, but they have taken care of some key opponents early in the year. Roaring Fork this past week defeated Meeker 66-37 to push their winning streak to 5. Roaring Fork this weekend has a huge test against 4A Aspen (13-3). Roaring Fork will also face North Fork (6-7) on Saturday and 4A Coal Ridge (9-4) on Tuesday. Roaring Fork has 10 games remaining with no tournament to end the season. Roaring Fork will face at least 6 more quality opponents to end the season.
