
Class 3A Girls Weekly Review and Preview

As we hit the last week of the regular season, some teams are set solid on the seeding index while others are a little less secure. Some teams get to kick back and wait for the postseason while others are hoping for the fall of others to allow them the opportunity to make some noise. This week we look at league leaders and then peek at the team just in and barley out of the playoff bubble currently.

Resurrection Christian – Patriot League
Leading the Patriot League and the rest of 3A in the number 1 spot in the CHSAA Seeding Index is the Cougars. The team is 21-1 overall, their lone loss being against Strasburg 63-67 in overtime, and they are 9-1 in league play. Resurrection Christian will be looking to cap off their regular season with 10 games won consecutively as they will face University on 3/1.
Cedaredge – Western Slope League
With their perfect record still intact, Cedaredge sits at 4 in the CHSAA Seeding index and at the top of the Western Slope League with a 21-0 overall record and a 14-0 league record. The teams most recent wins have been over Roaring Fork 40-37, Battle Mountain 61-33, and Plateau Valley 45-26. The Bruins will be looking to complete their regular season with wins this week which will be against Thomas MacLaren on 2/28 and Peyton on 3/1.
Thomas MacLaren School – Black Forest League
Thomas MacLaren is 20-2 overall on the season, 3-0 in league play and are 1st in the Black Forest League. The Highlanders are currently 11 in the CHSAA Seeding Index and are on an 18-game winning streak with their losses on the season being against Ellicott 32-41 and Denver Christian 33-58. The most recent wins for the team were over Miami-Yoder 62-16, Crowley County 66-32, and James Irwin 57-26. The Highlands will end their regular season in a game against Cedaredge and will be looking to a win to jump up the seeding index and potentially host in the postseason.
Addenbrooke Classical Academy – Foothills League
Currently at number 20 in the CHSAA Seeding Index, ACA is 19-3 overall on the season with a 7-0 league record, 1st in the Foothills league and are on a 9 game winning streak. The Mustangs’ latest wins were over Lotus School 46-13 and Golden View 56-41. The team will be looking to end their regular season on a win to continue their momentum into the post season and will be taking on Twin Peaks Classical on 2/28.
Centauri – Intermountain League
The Falcons are currently sitting in 3rd of the CHSAA Seeding Index after previously being in 2nd. Centauri is currently 19-3 overall, their losses being from Delta 44-55, Montrose 39-44 and Pagosa 27-28. The team was able to beat Pagosa last week 47-36 and brought their league record to 10-1 and put them in 1st in the IML. The Falcons also beat Buena Vista 59-27 and Ignacio 52-22 in the last week of play and will be looking to end their regular season on a win as they will play Alamosa on 2/28 to wrap up the regular season and head into the postseason.
Denver Christian – Metro League
Denver Christian has only one loss on the season, which was against Colorado Springs Christian 45-52, giving the team an overall record 21-1, a league record of 9-0 and puts them in 1st in the Metro League. The Thunder are currently sitting 2nd in the CHSAA Seeding Index, having Jumped Centauri for the spot. Denver Christian won their most recent game 44-38 which was against Colorado Academy this last week and will be looking to continue their success as they wrap up the regular season with their final game being against Forge Christian on 2/18.
Colorado Springs Christian – Tri-Peaks League
At number 6 in the CHSAA Seeding Index, Colorado Springs Christian is 18-3 overall on the season with a 13-0 league record, putting them in 1st in the Tri-Peaks League. The Losses this season for the Lions have been against Lutheran 42-28, Centauri 37-40 and TCA 36-39. The team is currently on a 9-game winning streak, getting their most recent wins over TVS 51-33, BLA 64-15 and Lamar 43-21. The Lions will be looking to carry their momentum into the postseason but will first face St. Mary’s on 2/28 to end the regular season.
30. Middle Park – Frontier
The Panthers currently sit at number 30 in the CHSAA Seeding Index and are 1st in the Frontier league with an 11-9 overall record and a 5-0 league record. The team is on a 5-game winning streak currently after beating Alameda this week 48-27. Middle Park will be looking to continue their success and end their regular season with a couple of wins as they will be taking on The Academy on 2/27 and Jefferson Academy on 2/28.
31. Forge Christian
The Fury remain inside of the playoff bubble currently at 31 in the CHSAA Seeding Index with an 8-14 overall record, a 4-5 league record, and a 7th place spot in the Metro League. Forge Christian is currently on a 4-game losing streak that they hope to break this week. The teams most recent losses came against Jefferson Academy 26-41 and Kent Denver 47-56. Forge Christian will be playing Denver Christian on 2/28 to wrap up the regular season and will be looking for a win to not only break their losing streak but to also ensure their spot in the postseason.
32. Liberty Common
The Eagles are currently the last team inside of the playoffs at number 32 in the CHSAA Seeding Index. With one game left in the regular season against Windsor Charter on 2/27, the team is currently 8-14 overall, 2-7 in league play and 9th in the Patriot League. Liberty Common is currently on a 3-game losing streak, having lost to Platte Valley 39-63 and 32-48, and Weld Central 41-48. The team will be looking to win their last game to ensure their spot in the postseason and will try to make a run if they remain inside of the bubble.
33. Wray
Wray is currently just outside of the playoff bubble at number 33 in the CHSAA Seeding Index. Wray is currently 8th in the Patriot League with a 3-7 league record and a 5-16 overall record. The Eagles won their last two games which were against Windsor Charter 48-37 and Frontier Academy 68-38. The team will be looking to continue their success and get a win to end the regular season and will play Valley on 2/27. From there the team will have to wait and see if they jump anyone and make it to the postseason.
34. Jefferson
The regular season has ended for Jefferson with 2 wins in their last three games which were a loss to St. Mary’s Academy 32-58 but wins over Bruce Randolph 43-37 and a NVOHS 82-15. Jefferson is currently 34 in the CHSAA Seeding Index with a 14-8 overall record, a 4-1 league record, and are 4th in the Frontier League. The Saints are currently not making it to the postseason but will be watching to see if anyone ahead of them stumbles and makes room for them to sneak in.
35. SkyView Academy
The Hawks are currently 9-12 overall with a 6-6 league record and are 6th in the Mile High League. The team is sitting at 35 in the CHSAA Seeding Index and is currently outside of the playoff bubble. The team went 2-1 in the last week of play, falling to DCA 39-60 but beating Clear Creek 66-19 and UCP 50-47. SkyView will be looking to win out the rest of the regular season to give themselves the best chance at moving up the seeding index and making it to the postseason. The teams last games will be against Bishop Machebeuf on 2/27, and Lyons on 3/1.
