Class 2A Boys State Tournament Predictions

We are a few days from the State Tournament kicking off.  We will have predictions out Today, Tomorrow and Wednesday.  I will give my predictions for all 4 Classes boys and girls.  Wednesday we will preview Class 1A thru 3A Boys & Girls.  If you would like to share your predictions, I would love to see everyone’s thoughts.  Also, remember we are not cheering against any team, this is something we have done since we started the website, and we are wrong all the time!

Class 2A Boys State Tournament Predictions

Elite 8 Predictions

#1 Simla over #8 Sanford 2^nd Best Matchup of the Elite 8

Not a typical #1 vs #8 matchup.  Both teams are perennial state tournament teams, and both teams come in with plenty of talent.  Simla played well at regionals defeating Burlington 74-39 and Vail Mountain 53-35.  Sanford blew past Two Roads Charter 79 to 29 and then went to the wire with Heritage Christian and won 52 to 50.  Sanford has won as a low seed before, and I have a hard time picking against a team like Sanford in march.  I am going with Simla. I think they have the talent to win it all this year.

#4 Byers over #5 Plateau Valley Best Matchup of the Elite 8

The best game of the opening round and I think it will be a good one.  Byers took care of business at regionals defeating Center 60-31 and Akron 67 to 53.  The key for Byers will be playing within their system and controlling the tempo.  Plateau Valley also dominated at regionals and avenged last year defeating Union Colony Prep 77-53 and Fowler 58 to 22.  This should be a great game as both teams match up well and I think comes down to the wire.

#2 Crowley County over #7 Golden View Classical

Crowley County looks to be on a mission this year as they dominated at regionals.  Crowley County defeated Dayspring Christian 68-36 and Holyoke 63-32.  Crowley County has won at state and knows what it takes to make a deep run in Loveland.  Golden View Classical is playing their best basketball ending the season on a 16-game winning streak.  Golden View Classical defeated Belleview Christian 52-40 and Haxtun 64-48.  Golden View Classical will have to play their style and not play at the style of Crowley County to pull the upset.  Tempo and defense will be key to this game.

#3 Bishop Machebeuf over #11 Sedgwick County 3^rd Best Matchup of the Elite 8

Bishop Machebeuf continues to play good basketball and they have yet to lose to a 2A team this season.  Bishop Machebeuf cruised to an easy opening round win over Vail Christian 77-26 and then was tested by Limon 56-47.  Bishop Machebeuf will be tested in the opening round, but they also have state tournament experience.  Sedgwick County is the lone double-digit seed at the state tournament this year.  Sedgwick County defeated Hoehne 74-53 and then held off Merino 56-55.  Sedgwick County will have to play their style of basketball to pull off another upset and they must take care of the basketball.

Semifinal Round

#1 Simla over #4 Byers

#2 Crowley County over #3 Bishop Machebeuf

Championship Saturday

#1 Simla over #2 Crowley County (State Championship)

#3 Bishop Machebeuf over #4 Byers (3^rd Place)

#8 Sanford over #11 Sedgwick County (5^th Place)

I think we are in for some AMAZING games In the Class 2A.  I think the 8 teams who reached the state tournament all have a different scenario on how they can hoist the State Championship.  I am very excited to see how everything boils down and I could easily see myself being way wrong, but I am excited for 3 great days of basketball.  Remember to follow the scores of the games check out our Facebook page & twitter.  We plan on having pictures posted on Facebook as well.  We will also have updates on the website as well.  Good Luck to all teams.
