WEDNESDAY

#1 Dayspring Christian vs #7 SkyView Academy

Dayspring Christian put an early four-spot on the board in Monday’s 6-5 win over #14 Highland, but needed two runs in the fourth to gain a one-run lead that the Eagles would not surrender the rest of the way. Josiah Rodriguez allowed five runs (one earned) in three innings to get the win, and Gage Davis got his first career save with four innings of one-hit ball.

Logen Meyers and Holden FitzRoy combined to one-hit Arrupe Jesuit on Tuesday, as SkyView Academy won 14-0. Meyers also went 4-4 with two doubles and two RBI, while Chris Gallegos recorded four RBI. Isaac Dove racked up four stolen bases. The Hawks swiped a dozen as a team.

THURSDAY

#9 Peyton at #20 Byers

After having its seven-game winning streak snapped last week, Peyton got back on track with a 9-1 win over Rye on Tuesday. Liam Stewart homered and drove in three runs for the Panthers, and Noah Martin had a pair of doubles and three runs scored. Martin struck out 10 in five innings, allowing one unearned run.

Byers got off to a 4-1 start, but Monday’s 11-0 loss to #3 Denver Christian was the third straight for the Bulldogs. They were held to just two hits in the defeat, a double by Parker Ebert and a single from Gabe Price. Four errors led to six of the runs being unearned.

#5 Limon at 1A #9 Stratton

Limon travels to Stratton with the Badgers riding a seven-game winning streak. Brody Scherrer held Colorado Springs Christian to just two hits in a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. Both hits were singles. Scherrer registered nine strikeouts. Logan Haflich went 3-3 with three runs and four stolen bases.

Stratton had three games impacted by the weather last week and only got an 18-3 victory over Manzanola in the book. The Eagles hosted #12 Holly for two on Tuesday and lost both, 9-1 and 11-6. The Eagles committed seven errors in the first game, and only had two hits. Grady Steerman collected a double, and Brody Webb had a single.

#21 Lyons at 1A #3 Flatirons Academy

Lyons has dropped five of its last six ahead of the meeting with Flatirons. That includes a 17-9 defeat by The Academy on Monday. Seven different Lions recorded an RBI, and three scored more than a run. Jake LaCrosse, Zack LaCrosse, and Kaion Kishiyama all scored twice.

Flatirons Academy had its eight-game winning streak to begin the season snapped by Dawson School (2A #33) 7-3 on Tuesday. The Bison tied the game at 3-all in the top of the fifth, but surrendered four runs over the next two, including three in the sixth. Flatirons drew nine walks in the loss, but also gave up seven. Six of those were by Parker Wilson, who also punched out 10.

#8 Swink at #29 Rocky Ford (DH)

Swink heads into this important doubleheader on a three-game winning streak, thanks in part to Monday’s 9-2 win at 1A #11 La Veta. The Lions saw both runs score without the benefit of a hit, as their pitchers walked three and hit four in the contest. Not only did Nate Cabrera get the win on the hill but he helped his own cause by smacking his fourth home run of the season.

Something has to give, as Rocky Ford enters the match-up on a three-game winning streak of its own. The most recent came on Tuesday, as the Meloneers downed Center 20-8. Rocky Ford has scored at least 18 runs in each game of the winning streak. Fabian Ortega went 3-4 with 5 RBI. The Meloneers stole 19 bases, five by CJ Baca-Barela and four more from Leticia Garcia.

#11 Forge Christian at 3A #14 Kent Denver

Brock Wycoff tossed a one-hitter over five innings on Tuesday, as Forge Christian downed Kent Denver 13-0 in the front end of a home-and-home series. Wycoff struck out 13 and did not walk anyone. Easton Wilde went 4-4 with three RBI, three runs, and three stolen bases. Burke Jasa was 3-3 with three RBI and three runs.

Will Goldmanis had the lone knock for the Sun Devils, and Jack Wilson was the only other baserunner, reaching on an error. Defensively, seven errors led to six unearned runs. Sam Eichorn and Orlando Lochiatto combined for seven earned runs in four innings.
