Class 1A Baseball Regional Projections (4/25/2025)

Class 1A Baseball Regionals are done a bit different than the rest of the Classes. Class 1A still plays a district tournament with the district winner all qualifying for State. The district winners are seeded 1-5 with the top 4 district winner hosting regionals. If your district has more than 5 teams than they automatically qualify 2 teams. This season District 1, 2, 4, and 5 all automatically qualify 2 teams. The remaining 7 teams will be picked off the CHSAA Seeding and Selection Index.

District Champions Predictions

District 1 Champion Prediction: Dove Creek (17)

District 1 Automatic Berth Prediction: La Veta (14)

Dove Creek is my pick to win the District 1 Tournament. We have a few big games remaining for seeding purposes as Sargent will face Nucla tonight and La Veta will also face Sargent on Tuesday. More than likely only the two automatic berths get into regionals from this district.

District 2 Champion Prediction: Simla (7)

District 2 Automatic Berth Prediction: ECA (11)

Simla continues to rack up important wins as they picked up a nice win over Otis yesterday. Simla also defeated Flatirons Academy so expect them to continue to move up the Seeding Index. ECA will be the #2 seed in the district tournament and being able to hold back your top pitchers will be key to winning the district.

District 3 Champion Prediction: Flatirons Academy (5)

Flatirons Academy and Rocky Mountain Lutheran will play each other in the district finals. Winner will host and loser will hit the road but both teams should get into the regional tournament.

District 4 Champion Prediction: Eads (4)

District 4 Automatic Berth: Holly (8)

Eads remain my pick to win the tournament but Holly is starting to play their best baseball. McClave and Cheyenne Wells will also be in the mix and getting a good seed could be the difference in challenging for that district crown.

District 5 Champion: Haxtun (1)

District 5 Automatic Berth: Akron (2)

The best district in Class 1A. The top 3 teams in the seeding index plus a fourth team in the top 10 in Otis. This will be a grind for the District Tournament. Haxtun, Akron, Merino should be the top seeds and that could help them save pitchers for a deep district tournament run.
