
CLASS 2A BASEBALL REPORT – WEEKEND

The weekend slate in Class 2A begins with a busy Friday schedule. Included are three doubleheaders, as well as a couple cross-classification contests. Saturday keeps the trend going with even more top match-ups to be watched. The rankings are from the Friday morning CHSAA Selection and Seeding Index.

FRIDAY
#1 FORGE CHRISTIAN VS 3A #23 VALLEY
Forge Christian completed its home-and-home sweep of 3A #2 Colorado Academy, beating the Mustangs 5-3 on Thursday. The Fury overcame a 2-1 deficit with a three-run fifth. Easton Wilde went 2-4 with a triple and two RBI, and Brock Wycoff scored twice. Burke Jasa struck out nine in the complete game victory. Valley is coming off a 4-1 loss to the #1 team in 3A, University, on Wednesday. Carson Adolf and Anthony Solis had the only two hits for the Vikings, and Andrew Renken scored their lone run.
#2 DAYSPRING CHRISTIAN VS #10 MONTE VISTA
It was a doubleheader sweep for Dayspring Christian on Thursday, as the Eagles beat Bishop Machebeuf 13-3 and 13-1. Leading 2-1, DCA erupted for an 11-run fifth to win game one. Owen Steward and Logan VanIddekinge both had two doubles and two RBI in game one, while Gage Davis ad Simon Sholders each collected three RBI in game two. Monte Vista went the distance and beyond before losing to 3A #8 Montezuma-Cortez 8-6 in 10 innings on Tuesday. Domyon Naranjo and Azariah Hurtado had two RBI apiece for the Pirates.
#3 PEYTON VS #8 LIMON (DH)
Zayden Ebbert, Liam Stewart, Colton Cobb, and Noah Martin had two hits apiece for Peyton in a 10-2 victory at St. Mary’s on Tuesday. Nathaniel Hall drove in two runs for the Panthers. Quinten Blatnick and Brooks Scherrer had two hits each for Limon, but the Badgers dropped an 11-3 decision to #5 Yuma on Thursday.
#5 YUMA VS 3A #21 BENNETT
Silas Baucke went 3-5 in the Outlaws’ 11-3 win over Lion on Thursday, including his third home run of the season. He drove in two, as did Jesus Rodriguez and Lennox Huwa. Bennett dropped a tough 7-4 contest to 3A #14 Lamar after being outscored 5-1 over the final three innings. Avant Dickens had two hits and two RBI for the Tigers. Brody Hawes stole two bases.
#11 LAS ANIMAS AT #17 SWINK (DH)
Damien Baca and Kree Wallace had two hits apiece for Las Animas in its 7-1 loss to Limon earlier in the week. Baca drove in the lone run for the Trojans, plating Wallace. After winning the first game of a doubleheader with Hoehne 13-3 last Thursday, Swink lost the nightcap 6-4. The Lions scored five runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to win game one. Luke Hanagan went 3-4 with two RBI in the victory. Landon Mills added two hits and two RBI in the game two loss.
SATURDAY
#4 FOWLER AT #16 CROWLEY COUNTY (DH)
Fowler dominated a Rocky Ford in a doubleheader last Saturday, beating the Meloneers 16-2 and 12-0. The Grizzlies benefited from 11 errors in the opening game, and Brock True smacked his third homer of the season. True went 4-4 with three doubles, two RBI and three runs in game two. Isaiah Montoya and Hagen McCuiston also had two RBI apiece. Crowley County rolled to an 11-1 win over Rye on Thursday, utilizing a seven-run top of the first to set the tone.
#6 DENVER CHRISTIAN VS #13 FRONT RANGE CHRISTIAN
#6 DENVER CHRISTIAN VS #10 MONTE VISTA
Denver Christian put up a big number in completing the home-and-home sweep of 3A #19 Kent Denver on Thursday, as the Thunder put together a 21-9 victory. They scored 11 in the top of the first and tacked on seven in the second. Mason Reilly went 4-5 with a homer, double, and five RBI to lead the attack. Tanner McCoy and Nate Bovasso added three RBI apiece.
Front Range Christian got outscored 10-2 over the final two innings by Dawson School on Tuesday and lost 13-3. Noah Angel and Nate McInturff each had an RBI for the Falcons. Jake Dreiling, Max Morton, and Haedan Morton each scored a run.
