Class 1A Baseball Final Four Predictions

If you have been following MileHigh Prep Report since we started, you know how much we like doing our predictions even if we catch slack.  Just know we are not cheering against any teams, and we are proven wrong all the time.  We enjoy putting the predictions out there and look forward to seeing the results of the games.  Biggest thing is Good Luck to all 4 teams and leave it all on the diamond.

#1 Akron over #4 Simla, 10am at All-Star Field

Akron has been a force to reckon with all season and they proved that at Regionals winning both games by 10+ runs.  Akron will look to their pitching depth to be a huge difference, and they have proven they can score runs against any team.  Simla has been on a terror as well winning 11 straight games.  Simla was challenged in both regional games, but their clutch pitching and key hits were a huge difference.  Simla will look to their pitching once again to be the difference.  I think a key difference in this game is going to be hitting.  Both teams have great pitching, and I could see this being a low scoring game.

#7 Merino over #3 Flatirons Academy, 12:30pm at All-Star Field

Flatirons Academy played a very difficult schedule this year and it showed with a great showing in the regional round.  Flatirons Academy defeated Caliche and Haxtun at regionals the latter many people considered to be an upset as Haxtun was a top ranked team all year.  Flatirons Academy has good pitching depth as well and has a pair of top pitchers that can defeat most teams.  Flatirons Academy will face their third straight opponent from the Northeast Corner and look to advance.  Merino finished third in the district and were forced to win the road for regionals.  Merino played extremely well against both opponents scoring 12 runs in both games and upsetting #2 Eads 12 to 3 to advance to the Final Four.  Merino has good pitching depth as well and will need to hit the ball against solid pitching of Flatirons Academy.  Pitching is key and both teams have top pitchers.  I don’t expect many runs to be scored and could see both teams score less than 7.

#1 Akron over #7 Merino, 3pm at All Star Field

If this is the matchup this would be the fourth matchup between these two teams.  Merino is looking to defend their state title.  Akron has the pitching depth but so does Merino but it’s hard to defeat a team three times in one season.  Expect a phenomenal game.
