
Class 1A Football Preview-Week Three
Week 3 is in the books, and it was a wild week of games. We again continue to see the rankings changes as two new teams join the rankings this week. Yuma joins the rankings at #7 and Wiggins joins the rankings at #9. Both teams picked up big wins last week. Rankings used are from the MileHigh Prep Report Media/Coaches Poll.

#2 Buena Vista (3-0) defeats #4 Centauri (2-1), 37 to 27
Buena Vista defeated Centauri in a close contest 37 to 27. This was Buena Vista first win over a top 10 opponent this season.
#3 Wray (2-0) at Scott KS (1-0), Friday at 6pm
Last Week…Wray jumped out to an early 14 to 0 lead after the first quarter over Goodland KS and never looked back. Wray would add another 14 in the second quarter and secure the 42 to 21 victory. Wray ran wild in the game racking up over 380 yards on the ground. QB Austin Collins led all rushers with 187 yards and 1 TD while throwing for another 95 yards and 2 passing TDs. RB Bryson Lewis (58 yards & 1 TD) and RB Brody Stults (80 yards & 2 TDs) also pitched in with the rushing attack. WR Aaron Tena also had a good game catching 4 passes for 79 yards and 2 TDs. Defensively Austin Collins (7 Tackles) and Bryson Lewis (6 tackles) led the Eagles defense.
Scott Kansas opened their season last week with a 35 to 0 win over Cimarron KS. No stats were input for that game. Scott KS was a playoff team in Class 3A in Kansas last season. Scott won two games in the playoffs falling to Holcomb in the Sectional Round 10 to 7.
Last Year…Wray defeated Scott KS 42 to 14. The year before Scott KS won this game 54 to 22.

#5 Forge Christian (2-0) vs 2A D’Evelyn (1-1), Friday at 7pm
Last Week…. Forge Christian once again got a quick start to a game scoring 21 points in the first quarter against 2A The Academy. Forge Christian would keep the peddle down and score 14 in the second quarter and 14 in the third quarter to secure the 47 to 14 win. Offensively it was another solid performance from QB Jack Widdifield who threw for 109 yards and 4 TDs while rushing for another TD. WR Quentin Torres had another big game catching 3 passes for 84 yards and 2 TD. The rushing attack did enough rushing for 94 yards and was led by RB Raleigh Cleveland (30 yards). Defensively, Forge Christian had a fantastic game forcing 4 turnovers in the game. A pair of INTs by D’angelo Marin led the way for Forge Christian. Joshua Fale (16 tackles) and Sam Granillo (10 tackles) led Fury on defense.
D’Evelyn played up last week facing 3A Conifer. D’Evelyn struggled to get much going offensively and Conifer got going quick, scoring 21 points in the first quarter. Conifer would walk away with the 56 to 0 win over D’Evelyn. Offensively it was a rough day for D’Evelyn racking up just over 60 yards of total offense. QB Kevyn Feldon will look to bounce back this week after throwing for just 33 yards and 2 INTS last week. The rushing attack will also look for a bounce back and RB Blake Faris will look to lead the charge. Defensively, Marshall Pharris (9 tackles) and Leo Vigil (8 tackles) led D’Evelyn defensively and they will look to led them again this week.
Last Year… Forge Christian jumped out quickly on D’Evelyn and get the 48 to 7 win.

North Fork (2-1) defeats Monte Vista (1-2) 21 to 7
North Fork defeats Monte Vista in a tight 21 to 7 win. Two weather delays pushed the game later into the night.
#9 Wiggins (1-1) at Highland (1-1), Friday at 7pm
Last Week… Wiggins picked up their first win of the season and secured the upset win over Meeker 26 to 16. Offensively, Wiggins was able to get the ground attack going rushing for 247 yards as a team. RB Julien Towers led all rushers with 77 yards on 14 carries. RB Owen Erker (70 yards & 1 TD) and RB Juan Hernandez (67 yards & 1 TD) also pitched in with the rushing attack. Defensively, Wiggins will look to make some adjustments against the run but their pass defense did create 3 interceptions with a pair of INTS by Cyrus Barkdoll. Wiggins defense was led by Mark Walker (11 tackles) and Cyrus Barkdoll (7 tackles).
Highland moved into the win column this week picking up a 34 to 0 win over Platte Canyon. Highland struck quick scoring 21 points in the first quarter and never looking back. Offensively it was a solid day for the Huskies racking up over 300 yards of total offense. QB Tyler Varra threw for 84 yards and 1 TD while rushing for 76 yards and 2 TD. WR Elijah Elder was the top target with 35 yards receiving and rushing for 54 more yards. RB Wyatt Chase led all RBs with 55 yards and 1 TD. Defensively Highland forced 4 turnovers in the win, with 3 INTS (Tyler Varra, Teigan Federer, and Brighton Morrow) and 1 Fumble recovery. The Huskies defense was led by Wyatt Chase (20 tackles) and Brogan Palmer (8 tackles).
Last Year…Wiggins secured a 14 to 0 win over Highland. This was a defensive struggle and expect the same this year.

#10 Flatirons Academy (1-1) vs Peyton (2-0), Friday at 6:30pm
Last Week… Flatirons Academy picked up their first loss of the season falling to #1 Limon 41 to 13. A big second quarter for Limon was the difference and Flatirons Academy couldn’t recover. Offensively Flatirons Academy found some success throwing the ball as QB Caleb Doughty threw for 105 yards and a TD but also 2 INTs. WR Everson Nelson had a solid day catching 8 passes for 61 yards. The rushing attack was limited rushing for just 70 yards as a team and RB Zeke Friedman ran for 23 yards. Defensively, the Bison were led by Ryker Clubb (6 tackles) and Gabe Noteboom (5 tackles).
Peyton improved to 2-0 on the season last week blasting Lincoln 56 to 0. Peyton made quick work of Lincoln and get the clock running early in the game. QB John Finlay-Wagner had an excellent game throwing for 171 yards and 4 TDs. WR Josiah Zimmerman (88 yards and 1 TD) and WR Mickey Winter (63 yards & 3 TDs) both had big games for the Panthers. Defensively, Peyton forced 5 sacks in the game and 2 INTs. Josiah Zimmerman (10 tackles & 2 TFL) and Brayden Nonaka (8 tackles & 2 TFL) led the Peyton defense.
Last Year…Flatirons Academy came out strong in the game defeating Peyton 44 to 8.

2A Denver West (2-0) at Manual (1-0), Friday at 6pm
Last Week… Denver West improved to 2-0 on the season with an impressive 42 to 13 win over Englewood. Denver West had a huge offensive day racking up over 450 yards of total offense. QB Marcelo Ortiz had a career day passing for 316 yards and 5 passing TDs while also rushing for another 52 yards. WR Robert Wittke was the top target hauling in 6 catches for 199 yards and 4 TDs while WR Ernest Fields hauled in 1 pass for 73 yards and 1 TD. Defensively Denver West had a great game plan. King Stancil led Denver West with 13 tackles and 1 TFL. Sebastian Guerroro, Abu Hussein, and Arturo Espino-Gonzalez all pitched in with 7 tackles.
Manual opened their 2025 season during zero week with an impressive 62 to 36 win over Ignacio. Manual has not played since zero week with back-to-back bye’s and will play every weekend till the end of the season. Manual in their zero-week win was impressive offensively racking up over 300 yards of total offense. QB Marcus Keller threw for 167 yards and rushed for another 88 yards and 2 rushing TDs. WR Kearre Watson was the main target catching 5 passes for 100 yards. RB Ellis NamuWeusi-Clements also pitched in offensively rushing for 59 yards and 3 TDs. Defensively Manual forced 7 turnovers in the game. 1 INT and 6 fumble recoveries, 3 of which were by Ellis NamuWeusi-Clements. Defensively Tyree Toliver (8 tackles) and Sirkentae Harris-Cook (8 tackles) led Manual in tackles.
Last Year…Denver West grabbed the 36 to 8 win over Manual.

Olathe (2-0) at Ignacio (0-2), Friday at 7pm
Last Week… Olathe improved to 2-0 on the season with a 27 to 0 win over Center. Olathe continues their tour of the Southern Peaks League with a game against Ignacio. Olathe has already defeated Del Norte 14 to 12.
Ignacio had a bye last week. Ignacio is looking to snap their two-game slide and fix the problems they had during those two weeks. Ignacio has lost to Manual 62-36 & Cedaredge 50 to 22.
Last Year…Ignacio snapped their two-game slide last year defeating Olathe 34 to 7.

2A Woodland Park (2-0) at C.S Christian (1-1), Friday at 7pm
Last Week… Woodland Park improved to 2-0 on the season with a 27 to 20 win over Salida last week. Woodland Park jumped out to a quick 13 to 0 and held on late to secure the win. Woodland Park offensively had a huge day racking up over 350 yards of total offense. QB Brandon Lewis had a big day throwing for 222 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs. WR Alex Stotts was the top target for Lewis catching 5 passes for 105 yards and 1 TD. The rushing attack was led by RB Spencer Cross who rushed for 69 yards and 1 TD. Defensively, Dane Campbell (7 tackles) led the Panther defense with Levi Lowell & Chance Hancock pitching in with 6 tackles a piece.
C.S Christian had a bye last week. C.S Christian is coming off a 41 to 14 loss to Limon during week 1. C.S Christian is looking to build off the bye week. C.S Christian against Limon couldn’t get the rushing attack going. QB Fisher Tenpas did have a solid game throwing for 175 yards and 1 TD. WR Silas Lambert had a good game catching 2 passes for 79 yards and a TD. Defensively, C.S Christian will look to improve against the run this week. Mikey Orawiec (19 tackles) and Christian Banks (11 tackles) lead C.S Christian defensively.
Last Year…Woodland Park defeated C.S Christian 28 to 25 in a barn burner.
