
CLASS 1A VOLLEYBALL REPORT – TUESDAY

The Tuesday night slate sees five matches involving teams in the top 12 of the most recent CHSAA Selection and Seeding Index, including one with both teams in that portion of the metric. The top 12 at the end of the regular season will host regionals.

#1 MERINO (9-0) VS 2A LIMON (1-5)
Merino remained unbeaten in sets played with a 3-0 sweep of Kit Carson last Saturday. The Lady Rams are 27-0 in sets so far. They gave up 37 total points in that victory. Limon finally broke into the win column last Thursday, grabbing a win inside the Union Pacific by sweeping Deer Trail. Madison Witt put away 14 kills, and Braelyn Malcom added 31 assists in the win.
#3 FLATIRONS ACADEMY (10-0) VS #8 EVANGEL CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (9-1)
The Lady Bison rolled past 2A Estes Park last Thursday, sweeping the Lady Bobcats for their seventh consecutive sweep victory. Chloe Friedman posted a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs, while Brylin Gomer added nine kills. Jenna Nehrbass recorded four total blocks. With a pair of 2-0 wins on Friday, ECA has won three in a row heading into this top-10 showdown. Ellie Wagner had seven kills and six aces in a victory over 2A Center, and eight more kills in the win over Sangre de Cristo.
#6 FLAGLER (6-1) VS 2A BYERS (3-4)
Flagler had to work a full five sets on Saturday to get past Lone Star. After dropping the first 21-25, the Lady Panthers won the next two 28-26 and 25-23, only to see the Lady Longhorns tie it in the fourth. Flagler won the fifth 15-12 to secure the victory. Byers opened Union Pacific play with a four-set loss to 2A Burlington on Friday, despite 13 kills from Joclynn Rector. Leyla Sayler distributed 25 assists.
#7 CALICHE (7-0) VS 2A YUMA (2-7)
Heading into this LPAA league match, Caliche swept Wiley in its last match on Friday. Hallie Lewis and Alexis Breidenbach had six kills apiece to lead the Lady Buffs on the attack, and Faye Lueck served up six aces. Yuma last twice last weekend, falling in four sets to 2A Forge Christian on Friday, and in three on Saturday to 3A Sterling. Berkley Nighswonger had 10 kills in the loss to the Fury,, and Lindsey Hermosillo tallied eight in the latter.
#10 SARGENT (10-0) AT 2A DEL NORTE (3-4)
Sargent lost only its second set of the season in a 3-1 victory over Primero on Saturday. The Lady Farmers had also beaten Centennial earlier in the day in sweep fashion. Del Norte dropped its third straight, falling to 3A Bayfield in three sets. The Lady Tigers only scored a total of 38 points in the defeat.
