
Class 3A Softball Weekly Preview and Review
As we start getting to the end of regular season play, teams are fighting for the highest ranking in the CHSAA Seeding Index and in league rankings. This week we take a look at the top 16 teams in the seeding index and get a feel for if they are solid in their placement or if the last couple of weeks will be a battle to stay towards the top.

Eaton
In the last week of play, the Eaton Reds were able to get the win over Forge Christian 13-2 but fell to Holy Family 0-3. The team was then faced with two league games where they were able to get the win in both games over Valley 9-0 and Brush 6-0. Eaton is now 13-3 on the season with a 4-0 league record, placing them 1st in the Patriot League currently. Eaton will be hosting Riverdale Ridge tonight, Lyons on 9/25 in a league game and Fort Lupton on 9/30.
Leaders on the Eaton stat board are Emma Anderson with 6 home runs, 13 stolen bases, 23 runs, 26 hits, and 24 RBI, Bria Foster with 6 home runs, a 1.37 ERA, 29 hits and 27 RBI, Isabella Ramsey with 3 home runs, Paige Hofer with 7 stolen bases, Kenzie Braddy with 7 stolen bases, a 0.74 ERA, 18 runs, and 21 hits, Johanna Galvan with a 0-68 ERA and 18 RBI, and Brooklyn Minne with 20 runs.
University
University just trails Eaton, sitting second in the CHSAA Seeding Index and 2nd in the Patriot league with a 15-2 overall record and a 4-0 league record. In the last week of play, the bulldogs were able to beat Fort Lupton 18-3, The Academy 12-0, Brush 17-2 and Lyons 4-3. Tomorrow the team will host Platte Valley in a league game and then they will end the week at Greely West on 9/27. Next week the team will travel to Weld Central in 9/30 and then they will go to Eaton on 10/2 for the league title.
Stat leaders for University are Natalie Galindo with 4 home runs, 24 runs, and 27 RBI, Jasi Cole with 4 home runs, 8 stolen bases, a 0.58 ERA, 21 hits and 19 RBI, Jocelyn Chacon with 2 home runs, Emma Zacheis with 8 stolen bases and 25 runs, Kenzie Wyatt with 5 stolen bases, a 3.27 ERA, 24 runs, and 26 hits, and Sydney Goetzel with a 6.36 ERA, 26 hits and 26 RBI,.
Wellington
The Eagles are 12-3 overall on the season after getting wins over Greeley Central 20-0, Timnath 10-2, and Roosevelt 16-10 but falling to Berthoud 0-1 in the last week of play. The team is now 5-3 in league play and are currently sitting 4th in the Longs Peak League. The next couple of games for Wellington will be against Northridge in a league game on 9/25 and then next week the team will travel for another league game against Mountain View on 9/30.
Sitting at the top of the stat board for Wellington are Kensley Story with 3 home runs, 15 stolen bases, 31 runs, 26 hits, and 18 RBI, Taylor Morgan with 2 home runs, a 3.40 ERA, and 11 RBI, Charley Somday with 15 stolen bases, Kiley Newberry with 9 stolen bases, London Morgan with a 4.20 ERA, Camryn Strain with 18 runs, Scarlet McGuire with 14 runs and 14 hits, Reganne Johnson with 14 hits and Lauryn Neal with 12 RBI.
Southeast Colorado
The Angels were able were able to win out in the last week of play, getting wins over Alamosa 11-6, Forge Christian 3-1, Rocky Ford 13-2, Lamar 5-2 and La Junta 12-2. Southeast Colorado is now 9-2 overall on the season with a 4-0 league record and are currently 1st in the Tri-Peaks league. The next game for the team will be a rematch against Alamosa at home where the team will be looking for the head-to-head sweep over the Mean Moose.
Leading the team on the stat board are Zoe Martinez with 4 stolen bases, 4 runs, 2 hits, and 3 RBI, Hailey Pearson with 1 stolen base and 3 runs, Dixie Bitner with 1 stolen base, Anna Wollert with a 0 ERA, Kennedy Gyurman with a 3.50 ERA, Emma Wollert with 3 runs, Lexi Shotton with 2 hits and 4 RBI and Bailey Sierra with 1 hit and 3 RBI.
Forge Christian
The Fury are currently 14-3 overall, 2-0 in league play and are currently 1st in the Denver Metro League. In the last week of play, Forge Christian was able to get the win over Mullen 21-11, fell to Eaton 2-13 and Southeast Colorado 1-3, but beat The Academy 11-0, Strasburg 15-14, and Westminster 14-2. The team will continue league play in this week of play and will take on Peak to Peak on 9/25 and then next week will play Jefferson Academy on 9/30.
Stat leaders for Forge Christian are Rio Beck with 15 stolen bases, 37 runs, 36 hits, and 24 RBI, Maxine Rossi with 14 stolen bases, 27 runs, and 24 hits, Julianna Alfaro with 12 stolen bases, a 2.85 ERA, 23 runs and 27 hits, and Honor Kuyper with 25 RBI.
Brush
The Beetdiggers were able to beat Bennett 15-0 and Eagle Valley 15-6 last week but fell to Erie 1-5, University 2-17 and Eaton 0-6. Brush is now 10-5 overall, 2-2 in league and 4th in the Patriot League. The team will be looking to climb the league rankings this week and will play league games against Resurrection Christian on 9/25, Strasburg on 9/30 and Sterling on 10/2.
Leading the Beetdiggers on the stat board are Haedynn Epple with 2 home runs, Jolie Tuck with 2 home runs, 8 stolen bases, 18 runs, 21 hits and 13 RBI, Gracie Martinez with 7 stolen bases, and Isabella Mesch with 6 stolen bases and 17 runs, Emry Chard with a 4.20 ERA, Elizabeth Peckham with a 5.25 ERA and 19 hits, Izabella Talmich with 16 runs, 21 hits and 15 RBI and Kyleigh Greenwood with 15 RBI.
Strasburg
The Indians are currently 13-5 overall on the season with a 3-1 league record and are 3rd in the Patriot League. In the last week of play, Strasburg was able to get wins over The Academy 18-3, Vista PEAK Prep 14-4, Weld Central 13-1, Sterling 13-5 and Limon 12-1 but fell to Forge Christian 14-15. In this week of play, Strasburg will be looking to work their way up the league rankings and will take on league opponents Valley on 9/25, Brush on 9/30 and Lyons on 10/2.
Sitting at the top of stat board for Strasburg are Addi Kent with 7 some runs, 10 stolen bases, 40 runs, 24 hits and 30 RBI, Phebe Johnson with 5 home runs and a 6.64 ERA, Madi Olsen with 4 home runs, 7 stolen bases, 30 hits and 27 RBI, Payton Weaver with 8 stolen bases, 30 runs, 26 hits and 27 RBI, and Wynne Winter with 31 runs.
Lyons
In the last week of play, Lyons was able to get wins over Timnath 8-4, Platte Valley 5-0 and Berthoud 605 but fell to University 3-4. The Lions are currently 11-4 overall on the season, 2-3 in league play and are 5th in the Patriot league. The team will be looking to get more wins added to their overall and league record this week and will be playing Eaton on 9/25, Skyline on 9/27, Valley on 9/30 and Strasburg on 10/2.
Stat leaders for Lyons are Dahlia Oviatt with 4 home runs, 3 stolen bases, 18 runs, and 21 RBI, Gretta Wynja with 4 home runs, a 1.48 ERA, 28 hits, and 27 RBI, Ava Vasquez with 1 home run, 3 stolen bases, 28 runs, 18 hits and 11 RBI, Taylor Dickes with 3 stolen bases, and Greta Hildebrand with 19 runs and 18 hits.
The Classical Academy
The Classical Academy is currently 12-4 overall on the season with a 3-1 league record and are 2nd in the CSML North League. In the last week of play the Titians were able to beat Sand Creek 11-0, Woodlan Park 14-1 and 20-2, Florence 6-1 and Falcon 8-2 but lost to Elizabeth 1-19. TCA will be looking to get a few more wins added to their record this week and will face Sierra on 9/25, Widefield on 9/26, Sand Creek on 9/30 and then Mitchel on 10/2 in a double header.
Leading the Titans stat board are Khaiyah Bacon with 3 home runs, 8 stolen bases, and 24 runs, Ada Wilson with 2 home runs, 13 stolen bases, a 3.76 ERA, 25 runs, 22 hits, and 17 RBI, Carina Passarelli with 2 home runs and 25 RBI, Taytum Kimbro with 9 stolen bases, 24 runs, 27 hits and 21 RBI, and Basil Murphy with a 4.41 ERA and 21 hits.
Delta
Delta rounds out the top 10 of the CHSAA Seeding Index with a 9-4 overall record, a 6-0 league record and a 1st place spot in the Western Slope League. In the last game for the Panthers, the team was able to beat Eagle Valley 14-4 and will be looking to add more wins and keep their league ranking in the next week of play. The team will be facing Cedaredge on 9/25, Basalt on 9/29 and Montezuma-Cortez on 9/30.
Stat leaders for the Panthers are Sophia Siennicki with 2 home runs and 23 RBI, Jazlyn Naranjo with 1 home run, 9 stolen bases, 21 runs, 20 hits, and 20 RBI, Perla Valdez with 1 home run, Olivia Hines with 7 stolen bases, a 6.50 ERA, 21 runs, and 18 hits, Addy Harrison with 4 stolen bases, Lily Gallegos with a 4.99 ERA, Maddy Zmiewsky with 19 runs, and Brylee Bush with 15 hits and 19 RBI.
Lamar
Lamar is currently 10-8 overall on the season, 3-1 in league play and are sitting 2nd in the Tri-Peaks I League. The Thunder had mixed success in the last week of play, losing to Palmer Ridge 3-4 and Pueblo Central 2-5, beating Limon 14-0, falling to Southeast Colorado 2-5, and getting wins over Alamosa 2-0 and rocky Ford 11-3. Lamar will be looking to get a few more wins added to their record and will face La Junta in a rematch on 9/30 and then Alamosa in a rematch on 10/4.
Stat leaders for the Thunder are Khloe Fernandez with 1 home run, 10 stolen bases, 18 runs, 22 hits and 11 RBI, Carlin Weber with 8 stolen bases, a 2.37 ERA, 11 runs, 31 hits, and 14 RBI, Yahirett Roman with 7 stolen bases, Alexus Campbell with 11 runs, Alexa Aguilar with 22 hits and Sierra Esquibel with 10 RBI.
Arvada
The Bulldogs are 11-2 overall so far this season with a 6-1 league record and are currently 2nd in the Frontier league. In the last week of play, Arvada was able to get wins over Bennett 24-3, Platte Canyon in a 2-0 forfeit, Englewood 19-0, and Middle Park 15-10, but lost to Centaurus 2-9. The Bulldogs will be looking to add more wins to their record and will take on Woodlan Park on 9/25, Adams City on 9/26 and Jefferson in a league game on 9/29.
Leading the Bulldog stat board are Abby Lopez with 3 home runs, 9 stolen bases, 25 runs, 27 hits and 35 RBI, Salem Duran with 2 home runs and 25 runs, Amiah Picaso with 2 home runs, 18 stolen bases, 22 hits, and 30 RBI, Amaya Krantz with 7 stolen bases, and Alyssa Moreno with a 2.86 ERA, 29 runs, 22 hits, and 29 RBI.
Alamosa
In the last week of play, the Mean Moose lost to Southeast Colorado 6-11 and Lamar 0-2 but was able to get wins over Gunnison 12-0 and 20-2 and La Junta 7-3. Alamosa now sits with am 11-6 overall record, a 2-2 league record and are currently 3rd in the Tri-Peaks I League. Alamosa will be looking to stay towards the top of the seeding index and will take on Montezuma-Cortez on 9/25, Southeast Colorado on 9/27, Florence on 9/29 and Rocky Ford on 9/30.
Leading the Mean Moose on the stat board are Taelynn Kreps-Smith with 2 home runs, 5 stolen bases, and 15 hits, Jayden Wubben with 2 home runs and 13 runs, Leah Higareda with 1 home run, Araceli Molina with 8 stolen bases, 14 runs, 17 hits, and 13 RBI, Shaya Martin with 5 stolen bases, 12 runs, 15 hits and 11 RBI, and Olivia Castillo with a 3.35 ERA.
Cedaredge
The Bruins are currently 11-5 overall on the season with a 10-1 league record and are currently 2nd in the Western Slope League. Cedaredge has a few losses in the last week of play and lost to Grand Junction 1-9 and Montrose 1-11 and 2-8, but beat Meeker 18-9 and 12-5. As the Bruins hit the last run of games in their season, they will play Delta on 9/25, Moffat County on 9/27 in a double header, and their last game will be against Rifle on 10/10.
Stat leaders for Cedaredge are Tia Homedew with4 home runs, a 3.35 ERA, 6 stolen bases, 25 runs, 28 hits and 28 RBI, Meri Hollembeak with 3 home runs, 7 stolen bases, 31 runs, and 22 hits, Kiera Stroh with 7 stolen bases, 32 runs, and 18 RBI, and Jewel Laliberte with 26 hits and 21 RBI.
La Junta
The Tigers were able to get wins over Rocky Ford 15-2 and Pueblo East 6-5 last week but fell to Alamosa 3-7, Discovery Canyon 1-9, and Southeast Colorado 2-12. La Junta is 9-8 overall on the season with a 1-3 league record and are currently 4th in the Tri-Peaks I league. The team will be looking to move their way up the rankings and add more wins to their record during this next week of play and will face Rocky Ford on 9/25, Pueblo Central on 9/27, and Lamar on 9/30.
Leading the Tigers on the stat board are Rylie Ortiz with 4 home runs, 15 runs, 18 hits and 15 RBI, Marli Gonzales with 14 stolen bases, 14 runs 19 hits and 15 RBI, Ayanna Torrez with 10 stolen bases, 14 hits, and 10 RBI, Isabelle Aragon with 8 stolen bases, and a 2.00 ERA, and Natalya Herrera with 13 runs.
The Academy
The Academy is 7-8 overall on the season after losing out last week, falling to Strasburg 18-3, University 12-0 and Forge Christian 11-0. The team is currently 1-1 in league play and sit 3rd in the Denver Metro League. The Wildcats will be looking to move their way up the ranks and get some wins as they will take on Silver Creek and Weld Central on 9/26, Fort Lupton and another tournament opponent on 9/27, and then Peak to Peak in a league game on 9/29.
Stat leaders for The Academy are Keara Pogue with 2 home runs, 15 stolen bases, an 11.72 ERA, 20 runs, 17 hits and 16 RBI, Finley Stark with 1 home runs, 8 stolen bases, 19 runs, 15 hits and 13 RBI, Savannah Tolitsky with 8 stolen bases, Aubree D’ambrosio with a 7.56 ERA and 13 RBI and Harper Scott with 16 runs and 12 hits.
