CLASS 1A VOLLEYBALL REPORT – THURSDAY
BY: KERRY SHERMAN
While it’s a fairly quite night for ranked teams in the Class 1A CHSAA Selection and Seeding Index, three of the top five squads will be in action. One other team currently in a regional hosting position will also get some work in on Thursday.

#3 FLATIRONS ACADEMY (11-0) AT 2A #1 LYONS (9-0)
This Mile High clash is the second high profile match of the week for Flatirons Academy, who swept #7 Evangel Christian Academy on Tuesday. The Lady Bison got 19 kills from Brylin Gomer, and seven apiece from Claire Friedman, Sydnie Mangel, and Jenna Nehrbass in that win. Lexi Richman racked up 42 assists. The Lady Lions maintained their share of the league lead by outlasting 2A #22 Highland in five sets on Tuesday. Michaela Coleman and Annabelle Hay led the attack with 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Hay added six aces, while Coleman tallied six total blocks. Flatirons won in four sets last year.
#4 FLEMING (9-1) AT LONE STAR (5-5)
Fleming picked up its third straight sweep victory last Saturday, blanking Weldon Valley. Ashley Bornhoft tallied 15 kills and seven aces, while Ciana Lousberg added 10 kills and 11 digs. Hayley Chamberlain guided the attack with 34 kills. Lone Star suffered its third five-set loss last Saturday at #10 Flagler. It was the second such loss of the week for the Lady Longhorns. Jade Kuntz hammered 18 kills and Paityn Forry added a dozen. Forry also led the defense with 21 digs. Grace Cochran recorded 18 digs and 35 assists.
#5 OTIS (8-2) VS 2A LOVELAND CLASSICAL ACADEMY (4-7)
Otis has won its last four matches in sweeps, the latest coming last Saturday against a top-20 Cheyenne Wells program. Aedyn Tribelhorn had 14 kills and 15 digs in that victory, while Kensley Packer added 11 kills. Raya Grimes-Routh had a team-leading 18 digs, and Crysten Goble recorded 31 assists. After losing its first seven matches of the season, Loveland Classical has own its last four, two this week. The Lady Lions swept Golden View Classical on Monday, and took out Addenbrooke Classical in four sets on Wednesday. Jersie Stohler had nine kills in the latter, and Keira Doan added eight. Doan also collected six aces.
#10 FLAGLER (6-2) VS 2A LIMON (1-6)
Flagler could not make it consecutive five-set wins, as the Lady Panthers fell to 2A Byers in five on Tuesday. The loss stung a bit more than usual as they led 2-0 in dominating fashion. Byers won the last two 25-23 and 16-14. Flagler hosts another 2A Union Pacific opponent in Limon, who fell to #1 Merino in three sets on Tuesday. The Lady Badgers only won 37 points in the match, 18 coming in the third.
