
CLASS 1A VOLLEYBALL REPORT – TUESDAY

The latest release of the CHSAA Selection and Seeding Index saw some shake-up, but most of last week’s top-12 are still there, just in different positions. Tuesday has a handful of matches involving those highly-ranked teams.

#2 MERINO (12-0) VS 2A #7 WIGGINS (9-3)
Merino rolled its way to a 25-14/14/14 win over 2A Haxtun last Friday, improving to 4-0 in the LPAA in the process. It was yet another sweep for the Lady Rams, who have not dropped a set to date. Wiggins won its third straight last Thursday, beating Limon in three sets. Brooke Schmidt led the Lady Tigers, who are also undefeated in league play, with 10 kills. Tenleigh Lorenzini racked up five total blocks.
#4 FLATIRONS ACADEMY (13-1) VS FRONT RANGE CHRISTIAN (7-10)
Flatirons Academy won its second in a row, both by sweeps, taking down Union Colony Prep last Thursday. Claire Friedman led the Lady Bison with nine kills, while Jenna Nehrbass and Brylin Gomer added five apiece. Front Range Christian lost for the third time in five outings, falling to Gilpin County in four sets last Tuesday. The first two sets went extras, with each team winning by a score of 27-25. Aubrey Deich recorded 25 digs, and Morgan Battey added 22.
#7 OTIS (11-5) AT #9 PRAIRIE (10-2)
Otis broke a three-match losing streak by beating Briggsdale in a sweep on Friday. The first two sets were very competitive, with the Lady Bulldogs winning 28-26 and 26-24. They completed the sweep with a 25-13 third. Aedyn Tribelhorn put away 20 kills, and Kensley Packer added 10. Crysten Goble racked up 33 assists. Prairie won tough matches against Briggsdale and #8 Caliche last weekend, the latter in five. The Lady Mustangs came back from 1-2 down to win the final two sets, 15-12 in the fifth.
#8 CALICHE (9-2) VS 2A #11 SEDGWICK COUNTY (10-4)
Caliche’s last outing was the five-set loss to Prairie. Faye Lueck led the Lady Buffs with 10 kills in that contest, while Hallie Lewis and Ryann Svoboda added six apiece. Lueck, Svoboda, and Lily Armstrong all had four total blocks. A sweep of Perkins County (NE) last Thursday made it two in a row for Sedgwick County. Lainee Nein picked up nine kills and 12 digs for the Lady Cougars, and Piper Buettenback also recorded nine kills.
#11 SARGENT (12-1) AT 2A #8 BUENA VISTA (13-3)
Sargent dominated its match against Mountain Valley last Saturday, allowing a total of 29 points in the sweep. Kandace and Kimberly Pargin both had four kills for the Lady Farmers. Buena Vista rolled La Veta, sweeping the Lady Redhawks for their second straight victory.
