Class 1A Football Playoff Projections & Predictions Week 8

This year to reach the playoffs is simple. Either win your league title or be inside the top 16 of the CHSAA Seeding Index. After they select the 16 teams that make the playoffs, they use the CHSAA Seeding Index to seed the playoffs. This week I will be giving my predictions on who makes the playoffs, but I will also look at if the season ended today who would make the playoffs at the end. We will update this weekly. Also at the end I will look if we used just the MaxPreps Rankings which will be how they will select and Seed the Teams next year!

Class 1A Playoff Predictions (Who I think make the playoffs)

This is who I think make the playoffs and who win the leagues. In Class 1A League champions are guaranteed a berth. The rest will be selected by CHSAA Seeding Index. Seeding is determined by CHSAA Seeding Index. I am picking my 9 At-Large teams via non-league schedules, remaining schedules, and how I think teams will do. Expect changes week to week especially making these projections/predictions so early. League Champions are posted first then the At-Large Teams.

Playoff Hunt for Final Spots

Manual, Denver Christan, Ellicott, Cedaredge, Holyoke

The playoff field seems to be getting narrowed every week and this week could do that again. The first big piece fell when Platte Valley knocked off Manual last night. Due to that loss I am going to move Wiggins into the final spot just ahead of Manual. Regardless, plenty of big games remain. We will look at the schedules of the teams #13 thru #21.

Remaining Schedules

Meeker: North Fork, Olathe, Grand Valley (Winner of North Fork vs Meeker should win the league title). Meeker needs to win at least 2 of their last 3 games.

Flatirons Academy: Platte Canyon, Denver Christian, Prospect Ridge (Win out, Flatirons cannot drop a game especially when Denver Christian sits at #18 and Prospect Ridge at #22)

Manual: Estes Park, Jefferson (Win out, Manual may need help to stay in the top 16 especially with their remaining opponents with a combined record of 2-11)

Platte Valley: Highland (Platte Valley got their key win over Manual last night and that should get them into the playoffs but their game against Highland will be for the League Title)

Wiggins: Burlington, Holyoke, Wray (Must beat Holyoke, I think a win over Holyoke gets them into the playoffs due to their brutal SOS)

Denver Christian: Prospect Ridge, Flatirons Academy, Forge Christian (Probably need two wins to get into the top 16. Denver Christian has one of the toughest remaining schedules)

Ellicott: C.S Christian, Peyton (Win out)

Cedaredge: Grand Vally, Prospect Ridge, Olathe (Win out, they will need some help but winning out should give them a shot)

Holyoke: Yuma, Wiggins, Burlington (Must beat Wiggins, I think a win over Wiggins gives them a shot at the top 16)

I will seed & select the bracket with the CHSAA Seeding Index. Remember this is still very early and things will change. The league champions I selected are at the top with the at-large berths following.
