Class 2A Football Playoff Projections & Bubble Watch Week 8
This year to reach the playoffs is simple. Either win your league title or be inside the top 16 of the CHSAA Seeding Index. After they select the 16 teams that make the playoffs, they use the CHSAA Seeding Index to seed the playoffs. This week I will be giving my predictions on who makes the playoffs, but I will also look at if the season ended today who would make the playoffs at the end. Also, at the end I will use just the MaxPreps Rankings which will be how they will Select and Seed the Teams next year!
Class 2A Playoff Predictions (Who I think make the playoffs)
This is who I think make the playoffs and who win the leagues. In Class 2A all-league champions are guaranteed a berth. The rest will be selected by CHSAA Seeding Index. Seeding is determined by CHSAA Seeding Index. I am picking my 9 At-Large teams via non-league schedules, remaining schedules, and how I think teams will do. Expect changes week to week especially making these projections/predictions so early. League Champions are posted first then the At-Large Teams.

Playoff Hunt for Final Spots
Coal Ridge, Englewood, Pagosa Springs, Weld Central, Sterling, Banning Lewis, Aspen, Montezuma-Cortez
The race for the final few playoffs’ spots will be a good one. From #13 in the CHSAA Seeding Index down to around #23 are all still on the bubble and in the playoff hunt, but all it takes is one upset to change that take. Some key games take place this weekend and we should see the playoff bubble narrow down more. I will go team by team on their schedule and what they may need to do.
Remaining Schedules
Lamar: Manitou Springs, Banning Lewis, Florence (Must win at least there next two games and then we will see were they sit when they face Florence)
Alamosa: Montezuma-Cortez, Salida, Pagosa Springs (Win out)
Englewood: Strasburg, Elizabeth, Platte Canyon (Englewood may need to pull at least one upset. I am not sure if beating Platte Canyon at the end is enough to get in)
Berthoud: Resurrection Christian, University, Eaton (I would say must win is over University, not sure if going 0-3 down the stretch they can stay in the top 16)
Montezuma-Cortez: Alamosa, Pagosa Springs, Bayfield (Win out)
Delta: Aspen, Moffat County, Coal Ridge (Win out, game against Coal Ridge could be for the final spot)
Coal Ridge: Aspen, Delta (Win out, game against Delta could be for the final spot)
Weld Central: The Academy, Brush, Sterling (Must win two of their last three games, if not all three)
Basalt: Moffat County, Aspen (Win next game and an Aspen lose and they are league champions)
Banning Lewis: La Junta, Lamar, Manitou Springs (Win out)
Pagosa Springs: Gunnison, Montezuma-Cortez, Alamosa (Win out)
