Class 1A Football Playoff Projections & Bubble Watch Week 9

This year to reach the playoffs is simple. Either win your league title or be inside the top 16 of the CHSAA Seeding Index. After they select the 16 teams that make the playoffs, they use the CHSAA Seeding Index to seed the playoffs. This week I will be giving my predictions on who makes the playoffs, but I will also look at if the season ended today who would make the playoffs at the end. We will update this weekly. Also at the end I will look if we used just the MaxPreps Rankings which will be how they will select and Seed the Teams next year!

Class 1A Playoff Predictions (Who I think make the playoffs)

This is who I think make the playoffs and who win the leagues. In Class 1A League champions are guaranteed a berth. The rest will be selected by CHSAA Seeding Index. Seeding is determined by CHSAA Seeding Index. I am picking my 9 At-Large teams via non-league schedules, remaining schedules, and how I think teams will do. Expect changes week to week especially making these projections/predictions so early. League Champions are posted first then the At-Large Teams.

Frontier: Forge Christian

North Central: Limon

Playoff Hunt for Final Spots

Manual, Denver Christian, Wiggins, Cedaredge,

The Playoff Field has been narrowed down to the top 20 teams in the CHSAA Seeding Index. The top 10 teams in the CHSAA Seeding Index are in pretty good shape to make the playoffs Rye could be the one team to slide if they lose to C.S Christian. Monte Vista is a near lock for the playoffs with a win over Ignacio they should get in but their game against Centauri will still matter. The rest of the teams we will go thru their schedule from #12 thru #20

Remaining Schedules

Flatirons Academy: Denver Christian & Prospect Ridge (Win out, Flatirons Academy would be in some trouble if they drop either of their final two games. Denver Christan sits at #18 so a loss their open the door for Denver Christian.)

Platte Valley: Highland (When they face Highland it will be for the league title. I am fairly confident that Platte Valley gets into the playoffs regardless of the result.)

Yuma: Wray & Limon (Talk about a brutal schedule to end the year. Yuma should remain in the top 16 if they drop both games to Limon and Wray but it will be tight. Yuma with a win in either locks them in. I am nervous especially if let’s say Wiggins beats Holyoke.)

North Fork: Grand Valley (Must beat Grand Valley. North Fork will be scoreboard watching plus also hoping their opponents they face this year win to help their RPI. North Fork will be on the bubble to end the year and they will be watching what other teams do.)

Holyoke: Wiggins & Burlington (Holyoke with a win over Wiggins I believe gets into the playoffs. Losing and things will get very interesting for the final few spots.)

Manual: Estes Park & Jefferson (Win out and get some help. Not sure if their wins over Estes Park and Jefferson will do much to help them get into the playoffs. Manual will need some of the teams ahead of them to lose.)

Denver Christian: Flatirons Academy & Forge Christian (Win one of their final two games. A win in one of their final two games gives them a shot at the playoffs. A loss in both and I do not think Denver Christian can get in.)

Wiggins: Holyoke & Wray (Win at least one of their final two games. Wiggins cannot get into the playoffs without winning one of their final two games.)

Cedaredge: Prospect Ridge & Olathe (Win out, and hope for some help. Cedaredge will need some help to get into the playoffs even with winning out. North Fork being at #15 hurts Cedaredge hopes at getting into the top 16.)

This is if the season ended today 10/23/2024. Using the CHSAA Seeding Index I will come up with the Playoff field. League Champions selected with my Predictions. I will seed & select the bracket with the CHSAA Seeding Index. Remember this is still very early and things will change. The league champions I selected are at the top with the at-large berths following.
