Class 1A Football Playoff Projections & Bubble Watch Week 10

This year to reach the playoffs is simple. Either win your league title or be inside the top 16 of the CHSAA Seeding Index. After they select the 16 teams that make the playoffs, they use the CHSAA Seeding Index to seed the playoffs. This week I will be giving my predictions on who makes the playoffs, but I will also look at if the season ended today who would make the playoffs at the end. We may update this again after Friday results & early Sunday!

Class 1A Playoff Predictions (Who I think make the playoffs)

This is who I think make the playoffs and who win the leagues. In Class 1A League champions are guaranteed a berth. The rest will be selected by CHSAA Seeding Index. Seeding is determined by CHSAA Seeding Index. I am picking my 9 At-Large teams via non-league schedules, remaining schedules, and how I think teams will do. Expect changes week to week especially making these projections/predictions so early. League Champions are posted first then the At-Large Teams.

Playoff Hunt for Final Spots

Manual, Flatirons Academy

I think we are down to 18 teams who can make it into the playoffs. I think any team from #1 through 12 is a lock for the playoffs but where is still up in the air. #13 thru #18 still more on the bubble. We will go through each team and their remaining schedule. In my honest opinion, I believe the battle for the last spot is the one to watch between Yuma and Manual. Just a .000947 difference between these two teams. I am giving Yuma the edge but only because I think a loss to Limon hurts less than a win for Manual over an 0-9 Jefferson team but, let me tell you that will be an incredibly close margin of difference.

Remaining Schedules

Holyoke-Burlington (Win and they are in for sure. A loss makes Holyoke sweat things out but I still believe Holyoke gets in regardless of the result of this game. Their win over Yuma was the biggest win of the season for the Dragons.)

North Fork-Done (North Fork has completed their schedule for the year. They must sit and wait to see their fate. I see only one maybe two different scenarios where North Fork does not get in but I feel pretty good about North Fork getting into the playoffs.)

Denver Christian-Forge Christian (This is where things get way more interesting. Denver Christian secured a monstrous win over Flatirons Academy last week and should be enough to get into the playoffs. But, they are only .0166 ahead of Manual at #17. A loss to Forge Christian shouldn’t hurt their RPI much and I think Denver Christian gets in.)

Yuma-Limon (The bubble! Yuma sits at .533697 in the CHSAA Seeding Index and Manual who is at #17 is .532750 and that is extremely tight. Yuma, with a win over Limon of course, would lock themselves in. A loss and things will be very interesting. A loss to Limon won’t hurt Yuma in terms of RPI and MaxPreps much but the question will be does Manual win over Jefferson help them more than what a loss to Limon does. Also, cannot count out Flatirons Academy who is at .525956 and they face Prospect Ridge who has a decent record to help their RPI.)

Manual-Jefferson (As mentioned will a win over Jefferson be enough to jump a loss for Yuma over Limon. Manual win over Flatirons Academy is huge especially if they do jump Yuma.)

Flatirons Academy-Prospect Ridge (Flatirons Academy is going to need some help to jump into the top 16. Flatirons Academy needs Manual to lose to Jefferson and then Yuma to lose to Limon and not sure if that will be enough to get in. Flatirons Academy would also be in trouble if they do get #16 and Manual is at #17 because Manual beat them head to head they can replace them in the field.)
