We use the CHSAA Seeding Index and go thru the top matchups of Week Ten. Final Week of Regular Season Action. The 6 games selected will have a big impact on the Playoff Picture! Rankings used are the CHSAA Seeding Index.

#13 Alamosa (6-2) at #15 Pagosa Springs (5-3), Friday at 7pm
Playoff Implications/What is on the Line…Winner of this games secures the Intermountain League Title. Neither team is for sure a lock for the playoffs so winning is the automatic berth in. I do believe that both teams can get in regardless of the game. But why put anything to risk.
Last Week…Alamosa improved to 6-2 on the season and 4-0 in league with a 50 to 13 win over Salida. Alamosa scored 30 unanswered points in the first half getting the running clock going in the 3rd Quarter. Offensively, it was a huge day for the Moose racking up 467 yards of total offense. QB Tony Griego had another solid performance passing for 156 yards and 1 TD while rushing for 90 yards and 2 TDs. WR Victor Zepeda led all receivers with 2 catches for 50 yards. RB AJ Baker led the rushing attack with 3 carries for 130 yards. Defensive Alamosa forced two turnovers, a pair of INTs by Victor Zepeda & Alex Viaplando. Alamosa was led in tackles by Jovanny Mendoza (7 tackles & 1 TFL) and Jo David (7 tackles).
Pagosa Springs improved to 5-3 on the season and 4-0 in league with a 42 to 10 win over Montezuma-Cortez. It was 28 to 3 at halftime before finishing with 14 points in the 3rd Quarter and getting the win. Pagosa Springs once again leaned on their rushing attack which racked up 339 yards. RB Colton Lucero continues his great senior campaign rushing for 207 yards and 4 TDs. RB Alex Pacheco also pitched in with 91 yards. Defensively Pagosa Springs played well, forcing 4 turnovers led by a trio of INTs by Creede Dozier, Jimmy Elledge, and Colton Lucero. Lucero also had a defensive TD and a punt return for a TD. Leading the Pirates in tackles was Zander Lefthandbull (11 tackles & 1 TFL) and Alex Pacheco (11 tackles & 3 TFL).
Last Year…Alamosa defeated Pagosa Springs, 14 to 8.
Series history… Alamosa leads the series 13-8 over Pagosa Springs, since 2004.
#5 Kent Denver (7-1) at #6 Elizabeth (6-2), Friday at 7pm
Playoff Implications/What is on the Line…Neither team can win the league title, but seeding will be on the line for this game. Winner will certainly host a first round game with the lose hoping to stay inside the top 8.
Last Week…Kent Denver dropped to 7-1 on the season and 2-1 in league play with a 33 to 7 loss to #1 Strasburg. Kent Denver will look to bounce back defensively after giving up over 390 yards of total offense. Caleb Fay (10 tackles), Clayton Leger (7 tackles) and Cornell Brooks (7 tackles) will look to lead the charge to improve the defense this week. Offensively Kent Denver did find some success racking up 278 yards of total offense with the passing attack racking up 251 yards. QB Yianni Balafas had a solid day passing for 231 yards, 1 INT, and 1 TD. WR Caleb Fay led the receiving core with 4 catches for 128 yards and a TD and WR Colton Meade also pitched in with 44 yards.
Elizabeth improved to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in league with a 42 to 14 win over Englewood. Elizabeth got started early, putting up 21 points in the first quarter and getting the clock running in the 2nd quarter with 21 more points. Offensively Elizabeth had 238 yards of total offense led by the rushing attack. RB Tristan McCray led all rushers with 6 carries for 70 yards and a TD. QB Griffin Widhalm had a solid day passing for 72 yards and 2 TDs. WR Cole Powers and WR Luke Antinora both had receiving TDs. Defensively Elizabeth held Englewood to just 142 yards of total offense and forced 1 sack by Tyler Hanak and 1 fumble recovery by Ryker Atkins. The Cardinals were led in tackles by Landon Edwards (5 tackles & 2 TFL) and Carter Jones (4 tackles).

#10 Eaton (5-3) at #17 Berthoud (4-4), Friday at 7pm
Playoff Implications/What is on the Line…Neither team can win the league title, but plenty is on the line. Eaton is a lock for the playoffs, and they are hoping to get inside the top 8 of the seeding index and host. Berthoud is on the bubble at #17 and they are looking to jump to #15 to get into the playoffs. A win would do just that but a loss they could possibly still get in but would need some help.
Last Week…Eaton received the forfeit win over Valley last week which improved their record to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in league. On the season Eaton is a run first team racking up 1351 yards of rushing to 799 yards of passing. RB Jackson Savona leads the rushing attack with 701 yards and 8 TDs. QB Andrew Loyd powers the passing attack with 711 yards and 7 TDs while rushing for 439 yards and 4 TDs. WR Max Blaskowski leads the receiving core with 17 catches for 366 yards and 3 TDs. Defensively Eaton has forced 13 sacks on the season with Cameron Southard leading the way with 4 sacks. Vinnie Juarez (49 tackles) and Ben Lawhead (41 tackles) lead Eaton on defense.
Berthoud improved to 4-4 on the season and 2-2 in league play with a 21 to 14 win over University. The win keeps Berthoud playoff hopes alive. Offensively it was the passing attack that led the way. QB Trae Anderson led the passing attack with 139 yards, 1 INT, and 1 TD. WR Ryan Callies led the receiving core with 7 catches for 121 yards. RB Brody Hall led the rushing attack with 66 yards and 1 rushing TD. Defensively Berthoud flew around and forced 4 turnovers in the game, 3 of which were INTS by Jayce Newbill, Triston Meek, and Drake Vining. Berthoud was led in tackles by Sean Barajas (10 tackles & 3 TFL) and Sam Smith (9 tackles).
Last Year…Berthoud defeated Eaton last year 33 to 15.

#14 Delta (6-2) vs #18 Coal Ridge (6-2), Friday at 7pm
Playoff Implications/What is on the Line…Neither team can win the league title, but this game will affect who makes the playoffs and who does not. Delta sits at #14 and a win locks them into the playoffs. If Delta loses, they will probably fall out of the top 15 and miss the playoffs. Coal Ridge is at #18 and this is also a must win for Coal Ridge to make the playoffs.
Last Week… Delta improved to 6-2 on the season and 2-1 in league play with a win over Moffat County 42 to 8. It was all Delta early as they scored 21 points in the first & second quarter to get rolling clock. Delta did not need much offense racking up just 169 yards of total offense. The rushing attack led the way with 136 yards led by RB Mack Lockhart who had 65 yards rushing and 2 rushing TDs & RB Dominick Teal who pitched in with another 40 yards and a TD. QB Jhett Ryan also threw a TD pass in the win. Defensively Delta forced 3 turnovers with Scott Floyd getting the INT and Jordyn Zavala & Alan Asavei both getting a fumble recovery. The Panthers were led in tackles by Hayden Quintero (7 tackles) & Landen Hulet (6 tackles).
Coal Ridge improved to 6-2 on the season and 2-1 in league play with a 55 to 6 win over Aspen. The win helped keep the Titans in the playoff hunt. Coal Ridge had a big day offensively racking up 424 yards of total offense. QB Dylan Miller had a huge day passing for 219 yards and 4 TDs. WR Marcus Munoz led all pass catchers with 5 receptions for 109 yards and 2 TDs. RB Angel Hernandez led the rushing attack with 6 carries for 100 yards and 1 TD. Defensively Coal Ridge held Aspen to 180 yards of total offense and forced two INTs by Marcus Munoz. No other defensive stats were input by Coal Ridge.
Last Year…Delta defeated Coal Ridge 22 to 7 last year.
Series history… Delta leads the series 5-0 over Coal Ridge, since 2004.
#11 Lamar (6-2) vs #12 Florence (5-3), Friday at 7pm
Playoff Implications/What is on the Line…Neither team can win the league title, but seeding is on the line. Lamar and Florence are both going to make the playoffs, but the question is where will they be seeded.
Last Week… Lamar defeated Banning Lewis 38 to 12 to improve to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in league play. Lamar scored 17 unanswered points to start the game and that was all they needed to secure the win. Offensively, Lamar had a big day racking up 397 yards of total offense. QB Jacob Dunning had a big day throwing for 248 yards, 1 INT, and 3 TDs. WR Cason Pollart led all WR’s with 6 catches for 163 yards and 3 TDs. RB Adriel Gonzalez led the rushing attack with 112 yards and 1 TD. Defensively Lamar did give up some yards to Banning Lewis but bent and did not break. Lamar forced 2 turnovers in the game, an INT by Jacob Dunning and an Fumble recovery by Cason Pollart. Lamar was led in tackles by Braxen Shelton (10 tackles) and Alex Aguilar (9 tackles & 2 TFL)
Florence dropped to 5-3 on the season and 3-1 in league play with a 44 to 21 loss to La Junta. It was 14 all at halftime before La Junta outscored Florence 30 to 7 in the second half. Florence will look to limit turnovers this week after giving up 5 offensively last week. Offensively, Florence did find some success racking up 377 yards of total offense. QB Noah Howard led the offense with 116 yards passing and 3 INTs and 231 yards rushing and 1 rushing TD. RB Ryan Robinson also contributed offensively with 30 yards rushing and 1 rushing TD. Defensively Florence did play well, forcing 2 turnovers an INT & Fumble Recovery by JJ Baker and a blocked FG by Ryan Robinson. The Huskies were led in tackling by Wyatt Dudley (11 tackles) and Marcus Robinson (10 tackles).
Last Year…Lamar defeated Florence 34 to 14
Series history… Florence leads the series 11-2 over Lamar, since 2004.
#8 Resurrection Christian (5-3) at #16 University (4-4), Friday at 7pm
Playoff Implications/What is on the Line…Neither team can win the league title. Resurrection Christian is at #8 and would host. A win keeps the chance of them hosting alive, but a loss will make them hit the road. University would be the first team out at #16. University needs a win to try and leapfrog the #15 team and get into the playoffs.
Last Week… Resurrection Christian fell to Wellington 21 to 16 last week. This was a defensive battle that came down to the wire. Offensively Resurrection Christian was slowed a bit, but they still racked up 236 yards of total offense. QB Jackson Lucas led the passing attack with 90 yards. WR Camden Davis was the top pass catcher with 3 receptions for 30 yards. RB Britton Walston led the offensive charge with 19 carries for 172 yards and 2 TDs. Defensively Resurrection Christian did force 3 turnovers in the game led by a pair of INTs by Camden Davis. Resurrection Christian was led in tackles by MJ Peterson (28 tackles) and Ethan Carter (8 tackles).
University dropped to 4-4 overall and 1-3 in league play with a 21 to 14 loss to Berthoud. This was also a close game that came down to the wire. Offensively University did find some success racking up 267 yards of total offense but will look to trim down on turnovers after giving up 4 last week. QB Max Davis will look to improve on the 3 INTs but did find some success with 153 yards. WR Dominic Chacon was the top target with 6 catches for 72 yards. The rushing attack was led by RB Michael Kelly who had 104 yards and 1 TD. Defensively University played well holding Berthoud to just 21 points. University forced 4 sacks in the game and 1 INT by Bryce Constance. University was led in tackles by Amir Al-rashed (6 tackles) and Nolan Tipton (5 tackles).
Last Year…Resurrection Christian defeated University, 30 to 22
Series history… Resurrection Christian leads the series 7-0, over University, since 2004.
