
Class 3A Volleyball Weekly Review and Preview
With the last week of the season upon us, and a handful of teams done playing for the regular season, we take a look at the top 12 teams in the CHSAA Seeding Index who are likely to host in first round of the postseason. We also look at the last two teams in the playoff bubble and the first two teams outside of the bubble and see if they are playing to secure their position, or hoping other teams fall so that their spots can be taken. (CHSAA Seeding Index taken 10/30 @10:00pm)

Alamosa
Alamosa sits at the top of the CHSAA Seeding Index, as they have for the last few weeks, with a 21-1 overall record, an 8-0 league record, and are 1st in the Intermountain League. The Mean Moose played in tournament play a couple of weekends ago, beating Wiggins, Severance and Lamar 2-0 and Merino 2-1, and then was able to come back tonight and beat Fowler 3-0. The regular season is now complete for Alamosa and they should maintain the top position heading into the playoffs and will be hosts in the first round.
Eaton
Eaton is currently 18-1 overall on the season with a 12-0 league record, are 1st in the Patriot League and are 2nd in the seeding index. The Reds are now on an 18 game winning streak after beating Resurrection Christian 3-1 and Brush 3-0 in the last week of play. Eaton will be looking to maintain their ranking as they wrap up the regular season with tournament play today through tomorrow where they will play in the Cheyenne Mountain Tournament.
Resurrection Christian
The Cougars are sitting at 3 in the seeding index with an 18-1 overall record, an 11-1 league record, and are 2nd in the Patriot League. In the last week of play, their 17 game winning streak and perfect record was broken by Eaton who the Cougars lost to 1-3. The team was able to recover from their loss and get a win against Windsor Charter Academy. The team will be looking to carry this success into this weekend as they will end their regular season with tournament play today and tomorrow.
Forge Christian
Forge Christian is sitting at 19-3 overall on the season with a 9-1 league record, are 1st in the Metro league and are 4th in the CHSAA Seeding Index. The Fury are currently on a 12 game winning streak after beating Eagle Ridge Academy and Prospect Ridge Academy 3-0. The team will be ending their regular season journey this weekend and will play their last game on 11/1 against Timnath before the team gets ready to play in the postseason.
Bayfield
The Wolverines are currently 14-5 overall on the season with a 6-2 league record, are 2nd in the Intermountain league and are sitting 5th in the CHSAA Seeding Index. Bayfiled has won their last 6 games in a row, their most recent ones being over Durango 3-1 and Pagosa Springs 3-0. To end the regular season, Bayfield will play in the Colorado Invite at the World Arena in Colorado Springs to see if they can add more wins to their record and maintain their rank.
Stargate School
The Stargate Eagles wrap up their regular season 21-2 overall on the season after beating St. Mary’s Academy 3-1, Peak to Peak 3-0 and Prospect Ridge Academy 3-0. The Eagles also finish the regular season with an 8-1 league record, are 2nd in the Metro league and are currently 6th in the CHSAA Seeding Index. Since the team is done playing for the week, all they have to do now is wait and see what their final standing will be as they head into the postseason.
Sterling
Sterling is currently sitting at 7 in the seeding index, ending their regular season with a 17-6 overall record, an 8-3 league record, and in 4th in the Patriot League. The Tigers finished their regular season on a 7 game win streak, beating Windsor Charter Academy and Valley 3-0 in the last week of play. Sterling will be looking to add to their win streak in the start of playoffs and will be looking to host as the 7th seed as of now.
Centauri
Centauri wrapped up their regular season against Pagosa Springs last week, bringing home the win 3-1. The Falcons will enter the postseason with a 15-8 overall record, a 4-4 league record, and a 3rd place finish in the Intermountain League. With no games left for Centauri, they will now have to wait and see if their finally seed will be the 8th seed or if they move based on wins/losses of other teams.
The Classical Academy
The Titians are currently 19-2 overall on the season with a 10-0 league record, are 1st in the CSML North League, and 9th in the seeding index. TCA was able to get wins over Falcon 3-2, Elizabeth 3-1, and Colorado Academy 3-0 to bring their win streak to 9 in a row in the last week of play. To end the regular season, the Titans will play Evergreen and Holy Family on 11/1. TCA will be looking to get wins and see if it will boost their final position heading into the playoffs.
Aspen
With a single game left in the regular season, which will be against Moffat County on 11/1, the Aspen Skiers are currently 17-5 overall on the season, 7-1 in league play, 2nd in the Wester Slope League and round out the top 10 teams in the seeding index. The most recent games for the team resulted in wins against Roaring Fork and Basalt 3-0. Aspen will be looking to win their last game and secure their spot in the top 10 of the seeding index as they head into the playoffs.
Gunnison
The Cowboys are currently the 11th seed in the CHSAA Seeding Index with a 14-5 overall record, a 9-0 league record, and are 1st in the Western Slope League. Gunnison wrapped up single game play for the regular season, getting wins over Moffat County and Crested Butte 3-0. The team will now finish their regular season schedule with tournament play at the Buena Vista Tournament where the team will play Meerk and Salida today and Telluride and Del Norte tomorrow. The Cowboys will be looking to win these games to ensure their hosting position in the playoffs.
Prospect Ridge Academy
Prospect Ridge Academy finishes their regular season with a 17-6 overall record, a 6-3 league record, are 5th in the Metro league and are currently the last team hosting in the playoffs assuming no additional movement occurs. To end the last week of play in the regular season, the Miners lost to Colorado Academy 2-3, beat GVCA and TCSS 2-0, fell to Banning Lewis Academy 0-2, beat Thomas MacLaren School 2-1, and fell to Forge Christian 0-3 and Stargate School 0-3. With all of the teams regular season games off the table, the team will now wait to see if any movement happens and guarantees their hosting spot or if they get jumped and have to go on the road in the first round of the playoffs.
DSST: College View
DSST: College View currently is the second to last team to get into the playoffs at 35 in the seeding index. The Wolves end their regular season with a 12-11 overall record, a 7-2 league record, and in 2nd in the City League. The last couple of games for the team were against Rangeview which was a loss 0-3 and George Washington which was a 3-0 victory. Now the team will wait and see if they remain in the playoff bubble and where they will travel to in the first round.
Estes Park
Estes Park is currently the last team in the playoffs at 36 in the CHSAA Seeding Index. The team is 12-11 overall on the season with a 5-6 league record and are 6th in the Mile High League. After losing to SkyView Academy 3-1, the Bobcats were able to snap a 2 game losing streak by beating Gilpin County 3-2 to end the regular season. Now the team will wait through the weekend and hope they end up inside of the playoff bubble and that they don’t get jumped and pushed out.
La Junta
La Junta is currently on the outside of the playoff bubble looking in as the first team out of the playoffs. The Tigers are 12-10 overall on the season with a 6-5 league record and are 6th in the Tri-Peaks League. The team was on a five game win streak after beating Mitchell 2-0, Montbello 2-1, and Harrison 2-0, but fell to CSCHS 3-2. The team has one game left in the regular season against Manitou Springs and will be looking to get the win and hope they can move into the playoff bubble as well as end the regular season with a win.
Pagosa Springs
The Pagosa Springs Pirates played a tough schedule this season, going 3-16 overall, 0-8 in league play, ending 5th in the Intermountain League and are currently outside of the playoffs at 38 in the seeding index. The Pirates have a few games left to end the regular season and will be looking to get some wins added to their record to see if they can’t sneak into the playoffs or at least end the season on a win. These games will be against Palisade and Rifle on 10/31, and Glenwood Springs on 11/1.
