MileHigh Prep Report Class 2A Boys Basketball Preseason Rankings

Note: I am just going to quickly give the rankings and a quick breakdown of what they are returning.  I will be doing my District/League Predictions for Class 1A thru 3A next week along with full Season Previews soon.  Games kickoff for Basketball December 1st.

#1Simla

Defending State Champions
Simla is your defending State Champions.  Simla will lose a talented senior class and replacing the depth and leadership is key.  Simla will return Tatum Kocerha (21.0 ppg) as a leader and Evan Guy (6.1 ppg) as key depth from last year.  After that Simla will look for new players to step up.
#2Sanford

Made State Tournament (Went 2-1, 5th Place)
Sanford finished in 5th Place last year winning the Consolation Title.  Sanford will lose just 1 senior from last season and that was their #1 scorer.  Sanford will return the rest of the roster and who step up along side Trason Gartrell (11.1 ppg) and Ben Faucette (7.4 ppg) is key for Sanford.
#3Sedgwick County

Made State Tournament (Went 1-2)
Sedgwick County went 1-2 last year in the State Tournament, falling to Sanford in the Consolation finals.  Sedgwick County will return plenty of key pieces from last season including 3 of their top 5 scorers from a year ago.  Tate Renquist (16.0 ppg) and Joshua Palic (13.8 ppg) will look to lead Sedgwick County to a deep run.
#4Limon

Lost at Regionals to Bishop Machebeuf
Limon did not make it to the State Tournament last year falling in the Regional Finals to Bishop Machebeuf.  Limon will return their entire roster from last season and look to make a deep run in the playoffs.  Limon will look for Keagan Mellott (11.1 ppg) and Drey Tacha (10.1 ppg) to be leaders again this season.
#5Golden View Classical

Made State Tournament (Went 0-2)
Golden View Classical made the State Tournament last year going 0-2.  Golden View Classical gained some valuable experience and will look to make a deep run this year.  Golden View does lose some key depth but return their top 3 scorers from last season.  Jacob Walker (13.4 ppg) and Luke Chronowski (12.6 ppg) look to lead the Sentinels into the season.
#6Haxtun

Lost at Regionals to Golden View Classical
Haxtun missed the State Tournament last year, falling in the Regional Finals to Golden View Classical.  Haxtun played extremely well down the stretch last year and hope to reach the state tournament this year.  Haxtun returns 4 of their top 5 scorers from a year ago losing their #3 scorer.  Chase Goddard (13.7 ppg) and Madden Larsen (11.9 ppg) look to lead the Bulldogs.
#7Byers  

Made State Tournament (Went 0-2)
Byers made the State Tournament last year going 0-2.  Byers will look to build on the success of last season but lose a good chunk of depth and leadership from last year.  Byers will get a few transfers from Bishop Machebeuf but will look to Quincy Eacret (13.8 ppg) and James Maes (11.0 ppg) to lead a younger Byers team.
#8Crowley County

Made State Tournament (Went 2-1, Runner Up)
Crowley County is your runners up from last season falling in the State Championship game to Simla.  Crowley County will lose a talented senior class but have pieces back to try and make a push for the state tournament.  Crowley County will look for Majestic McNeil (8.7 ppg) and Malaki McNeil (5.8 ppg) to step up and lead a young Chargers team.
#9Heritage Christian  

Lost at Regionals to Sanford  
Heritage Christian did not make it to the State Tournament last year falling in the Regional Finals to Sanford.  Heritage Christian lose some key pieces from last year but return their top scorer.  Heritage Christian must replace their #2 and #3 scorers but will lean on Alex Lundy (18.8 ppg) and Samuel Hanson (6.6 ppg) to lead this season.
#10Merino  

Lost at Regionals to Sedgwick County
Merino did not make it to the State Tournament last year falling in the Regional Finals to Sedgwick County.  Merino turned it on late last year pulling the upset in the first round of regionals.  Merino will hope to build on the success of last season and make a push again for the state tournament.  Zavier Trenkle (8.5 ppg) and Reb Heller (8.0 ppg) look to lead the Rams into 2026.
#11Ridgway  

Lost at Regionals to Heritage Christian
Ridgway did not make it to the State Tournament a year ago losing to Heritage Christian.  Ridgway gained key experience last season and look to compete for a spot at the State Tournament.  Ridgway returns their top 3 scorers from last year but must replace depth lost to graduation.  Ridgway will look for Henry Deppen (14.5 ppg) and Isaac Baskfield (13.3 ppg) to lead this season.
#12Plateau Valley

Made State Tournament (Went 1-2, 4th Place)
Plateau Valley made the State Tournament last year going 1-2 and finishing in 4th place falling to Bishop Machebeuf in the 3rd Place Game.  Plateau Valley lost some big pieces from last year team including 3 of their top 5 scorers.  Plateau Valley will lean on Colter Ralston (11.4 ppg) and Cash Salazar (4.7 ppg) to step up and lead this season.
#13Swallows Charter

Lost at Regionals to Limon
Swallows Charter did not make the State Tournament last year falling at Regionals to Limon.  Swallows Charter had one of their more successful season last year and they hope to build on the success.  Swallows Charter returns their entire roster from last year and hope they improve enough for a State Tournament berth.  Look for Charles Perry (11.3 ppg) and Andrew Breedlove (11.1 ppg) to take a step forward this year.
#14Custer County  

Lost at Regionals to Holyoke
Custer County did not make it to the State Tournament last year losing at Regionals to Holyoke.  Custer County will look to improve on the results of last season and take a shot at reaching the state tournament.  Custer County returns 4 of their top 5 scorers including their top 3.  Grant Rusk (15.7 ppg) and Kal Tunnell (7.6 ppg) look to lead the Bobcats to a successful season.
#15Vail Christian  

Lost at Regionals to Bishop Machebeuf
Vail Christian did not make it to the state tournament last year falling at regionals to Bishop Machebeuf.  Vail Christian did find success last year and return a young roster from last year.  Vail Christian will look to Oliver Neumann (10.0 ppg) and Asher Leonard (10.0 ppg) to lead Vail Christian this season.
#16Holyoke  

Lost at Regionals to Crowley County
Holyoke did not make the state tournament last year falling in the Regional Finals to Crowley County.  Holyoke will return a large chunk of their roster from last year but must replace their top scorer from last season.  Holyoke will turn to Colby Weber (12.5 ppg) and Mason Sprague (7.1 ppg) to lead a younger Holyoke team.
