MileHigh Prep Report Class 3A Boys Basketball Preseason Rankings

Note: I am just going to quickly give the rankings and a quick breakdown of what they are returning.  I will be doing my District/League Predictions for Class 1A thru 3A next week along with full Season Previews soon.  Games kickoff for Basketball December 1st.

Class 3A

#1Yuma

Lost in Elite 8 to Centauri
Yuma made the State Tournament last year falling in the Elite 8 to Centauri.  Yuma is looking for a deeper tournament run and return 3 of their top 5 scorers from last season.  Brody Sheffield (22.0 ppg) is back to lead the Outlaws and look for Alex Pensado (11.5 ppg) to take a big step forward this year.
#2Strasburg

Runners Up, lost to Resurrection Christian
Strasburg is your Runners Up from last year losing in the State Championship to Resurrection Christian.  Strasburg is looking to get over the top this year but will be without their top scorer from a year ago.  Strasburg will look to Nick Glatfelter (13.3 ppg) and Brody Hopwood (10.2 ppg) to step up this season.
#3Windsor Charter

Took 3rd Place, defeated Centauri
Windsor Charter took 3rd place last year defeating Centauri in that game.  Windsor Charter will lose a few depth pieces from last year (#3 & #5 scorers) but return plenty of talent to push for a state title.  Andrew Schams (16.1 ppg) and Dayton Long (15.1 ppg) are back to lead the Firebirds.
#4Resurrection Christian

Defending State Champions
Resurrection Christian is your defending State Champions.  Resurrection Christian had a dominate season last year but lose a healthy chunk of their state championship team.  Gone are their top 3 scorers but the Cougars will look to reload around Egan Koenig (10.8 ppg) and Asher Andre.
#5Highland

Lost in the Elite 8 to Strasburg
Highland made the State Tournament last year falling in the Elite 8 to Strasburg.  Highland will look to make another deep run but will be without their #1 and #4 scorer from last year.  The Huskies will look to Brogan Palmer (11.6 ppg) and Rowdy Watson (8.0 ppg) to lead them into this season.
#6Banning Lewis

Lost in Sweet 16 to Forge Christian
Banning Lewis did not make it to the State Tournament falling to Forge Christian in the Regional Finals.  Banning Lewis will look to return to the State Tournament and return the core of their team.  Banning Lewis returns 4 of their top 5 scorers and will look for Matthew Lebron (22.5 ppg) and Jordan Jones (11.0 ppg) to be leaders this season.
#7Forge Christian

Lost in the Elite 8 to Resurrection Christian
Forge Christian made the State Tournament last year but fell in the Elite 8 to Resurrection Christian.  Forge Christian will lose their top two scorers from last year team but will turn to Levi Clark (13.4 ppg) and Sebastian Still (5.8 ppg) to step up as leaders this season.
#8Peyton

Lost at Regionals to Bayfield
Peyton did not make the State Tournament last year getting upset in the first round by Bayfield.  Peyton was a junior led team last year and will look for a deep playoff run with a senior heavy roster.  Michael Perry (18.6 ppg) and Trent Gregg (10.5 ppg) look to be the leaders of the Panthers. 
#9Roaring Fork

Lost in the Sweet 16 to Windsor Charter  
Roaring Fork did not make the State Tournament last year falling in the Regional Finals to Windsor Charter.  Roaring Fork returns the core of their team including their top 4 scorers from last year.  Roaring Fork will look for Lucas Carballeira (16.2 ppg) and Kiko Pena (10.7 ppg) to take big steps forward this season.
#10Wray

Lost in the Sweet 16 to SkyView Academy
Wray did not make the State Tournament last year but pulled a big upset in the First Round of Regionals.  Wray will hope to build off the success of last year and push for the State Tournament.  Wray returns their top 3 scorers from a year ago and will look for Aaron Tena (14.4 ppg) and Alex Trejo (8.0 ppg) to lead them into 2026.
#11St. Mary’s

Lost in Sweet 16 to Resurrection Christian
St. Mary’s did not make the State Tournament last year falling in the Regional Finals to Resurrection Christian.  St. Mary’s returns their entire roster from last year and will hope to build on the success they had.  Jeremiah Starr (13.7 ppg) and Kisean Dawson (11.5 ppg) look to lead the Pirates into the season.
#12Platte Valley

Lost at Regionals to Centauri  
Platte Valley did not make the State Tournament last year falling in the first round of Regionals to Centauri.  Platte Valley gained key experience and look to make a run for the state tournament this year.  Regan Edstrom (17.9 ppg) and Rocco Minner (8.2 ppg) look to be the leaders for the Broncos.
#13Ignacio  

Lost at Regionals to Resurrection Christian
Ignacio did not make the State Tournament last year losing to Resurrection Christian in the first round.  Ignacio had a lot of inexperience heading into last year and will hope to build on the experience and success they had.  Ignacio will look for Ambrose Valdez (11.7 ppg) and Trace Crane (9.2 ppg) to take huge steps forward this year.
#14Vanguard

Lost at Regionals to Wray
Vanguard did not make the State Tournament last year being upset in the First Round by Wray.  Vanguard will lose two of their top three scorers from last year but return their top scorer to lead them into the year.  Matty Dessalegn (16.2 ppg) looks to lead Vanguard and also look for Josh Alade (11.3 ppg) to step up this year.
#15Centauri

Lost in the Third Place Game to Windsor Charter
Centauri made the State Tournament and lost in the 3rd Place Game to Windsor Charter.  Centauri will be losing a big chunk of last year’s team including their top 3 scorers.  Centauri will turn to new leadership this season from Carson Shawcroft (6.0 ppg) and Keadon McGinnis (4.8 ppg).  Cannot count Centauri out as they have the tradition to reload on the fly.
#16C.S Christian  

Lost at Regionals to Highland
C.S Christian did not make the State Tournament last year falling in the opening round of regionals to Highland.  C.S Christian was a junior led team last year and will look to compete for a State Tournament spot this year.  The Lions will hope Maximiliano Cota-Cordova (16.4 ppg) and Levi Williams (8.2 ppg) can fill the leadership roles this year.
