As the season gets underway in the new year, we look at the teams who are currently sitting in the top 12 spots of the seeding index. But with more than half of games yet to be played, this year’s top spots are up for grab as competition kicks off.

#1 Forge Christian (10-0)

Forge Christian has kicked off the year at 10-0 overall. Forge Christian has played a tough schedule so far and sit with quality wins over Platte Valley (71-45), Heritage Christian (81-62), Fort Morgan (52-46), Montrose (61-41), C.S Christian (76-69), Highland (71-44), and Vanguard (65-59). Forge Christian kicks off league play tonight against 4A Eagle Ridge before ending the week against 4A non-league Sterling.

Quality wins during that run come against DSST-Conservatory (56-39), DSST-Green Valley (52-47), Eaton (52-44), Fort Lupton (74-40), Frontier Academy (78-51), and Berthoud (56-48). Resurrection Christian will have a league matchup against Wray tomorrow night and then have a huge clash against the #1 4A team in Kent Denver on Saturday.

Yuma is currently on a 6-game winning streak and look to have found some momentum since their lone loss on the campaign to Vanguard (73-62). Yuma has quality wins over Sterling (61-39), Wray (54-47), McClave (59-54), Sidney NE (69-58), Limon (78-69), Liberty Common (63-52), and Simla (75-62). Yuma jumps back into league play tomorrow night when they face Brush. Yuma end the weekend with a non-league matchup against 4A Eaton.

Both losses that the Firebirds have suffered came against quality opponents in Banning Lewis (83-63) and 4A Prospect Ridge (52-49). Windsor Charter will continue into league play against Wiggins tomorrow night and will wrap up the week with a non-league game against 2A Golden View Classical.

Highland does have quality wins on the year with them coming over Vail Christian (73-43), Merino (58-47), Haxtun (61-48), Manual (77-48), and 4A Stargate School (44-41). Highland will look to get back going when they face Platte Valley tomorrow night.

St. Mary’s has not played the toughest schedule so far but do have quality wins over Coal Ridge (60-59) and DSST-Green Valley (56-40). The lone loss for the Pirates comes against 4A Kent Denver 77-44. St. Mary’s kicks off league play with a pair of contests. St. Mary’s will face Rye tonight and wrap up the weekend against 4A La Junta.

#11 Vanguard (5-3)

Vanguard comes into today with a 5-3 overall record and a 1-1 start to league play. Vanguard has not got the start they wanted in 2026 picked up back-to-back loses to Banning Lewis (75-29) and Forge Christian (65-59). Vanguard before those losses did pick up quality wins over Yuma (73-62) and Lincoln (93-78). Vanguard will face Fountain Valley tonight in a non-league matchup and will jump back into league play on Saturday against James Irwin.

#12 Liberty Common (5-2)

Liberty Common sits at 5-2 overall and 1-1 in league play. Liberty Common picked up a huge win over Highland on Tuesday and adds to a list of quality wins over Heritage Christian (73-42) and Loveland Classical (69-31). Liberty Common will move back out of league play action and have a pair of non-league games against Lyons tonight and Dawson School on Friday Night.
