
Class 3A Girls Basketball Weekly Review and Preview

Already halfway through the first month of the year, we look at the top 16 teams in the CHSAA Seeding Index this week. Some teams are spacing out their games while others are diving full into busy weeks of play. Either way we see the competition heating up just before most teams start their league play.

Dever Christian
Denver Christian sits at the top if the 3A pack with a 10-1 overall record. The Thunder are on a seven game win streak after starting the new year off with three wins over Elbert 64-14, Platte Canyon 64-17, and Byers 73-47. Denver Chrisitan will be looking to keep their momentum moving forward as they take on the Limon Badgers on 1/17 at home. They will then start next week off against St. Mary’s Academy on 1/20.
Leading the stat board for Denver Christian are Natalie Bohannon with 188 points, 96 rebounds, and 39 steals, Tenley Fuller with 158 points, 43 assists, 65 rebounds, and 54 steals, Riah Moore with 106 points, 30 assists, and 44 steals, Teagan Fuller with 28 assists, and Addison Ruter with 59 rebounds.
Colorado Springs Christian
The Lions are off to a 4-2 overall start to the season, starting 2026 off with a league win over La Junta 62-22. Colorado Springs Christian will be looking to keep their winning on track now in the new year and will take on the Buena Vista Demons tonight at home in another league game. The team will then go on the road and play Florence to end the week on 1/17. Games next week for the Lions will start in 1/20 in a league game against Rye at home.
Stat leaders for the team so far this season are Jordyn Rollins with 90 points, 14 assists, 46 rebounds, and 31 steals, Rose Ross with 79 points, 19 assists, 31 rebounds and 34 steals, Hayley Helwege with 31 points and 14 steals, Capri Simpson with 13 assists, and Mykayla Trujillo with 49 rebounds.
Meeker
Meeker gets off to a 7-0 overall start to the season and have 2 league wins currently. The Cowboys have beat Grand Valley 61-23, Cedaredge 37-21 and Rangely 48-43 so far in January, and will be looking to add more wins to their perfect record this week. The team will take on Olathe on the road on 1/16 and then will travel to Gunnison on 1/17 to end the week.
At the top of the stat board so far this season for Meeker are Rylee Sullivan with 84 points, 21 assists, and 26 steals, Cienna Rogers with 77 points, Addie Knowles with 69 points, 15 assists, 51 rebounds, and 27 steals, Reagan Clatterbaugh with 51 assists, 71 rebounds, and 26 steals, and Haigen Harrison with 26 rebounds.
Yuma
The Outlaws are 6-3 overall with a 1-0 league record and are 4th in the CHSAA Seeding Index. In the new year, Yuma was able to get wins over Liberty Common 62-16 and Akron 41-27, but fell to Simla 39-67. The team will be looking to get a couple more wins added to their record to end the week and will be traveling to Brush on 1/16, then they will host Eaton on 1/17. Yuma will then start next week’s games off by going on the road to Platte Valley on 1/20.
Yuma stat leaders so far this season are Taryn Sheffield with 112 points, 17 assists, 42 rebounds and 24 steals, Berkley Nighswonger with 108 points, Caolina Ross with 65 points and 34 steals, Aubrey Black with 17 assists and 22 steals, Bailey Nighswonger with 16 assists and 63 rebounds, and Lauren Gonzales with 51 rebounds.
Roaring Fork
The Rams remain undefeated so far this season, going 9-0 so far and rounding out the top 5 teams in the CHSAA Seeding Index. Since the new year, Roaring Fork has beat league opponent North Fork 73-49, league opponent Grand Valley 90-30, and Basalt 65-24. The Rams will be looking to make their league record 3-0 after tonight as they take on Cedaredge on the road. Then to end the week, the team will host Olathe on 1/17 and will kick off next week playing Aspen on 1/20.
Stat leaders for Roaring Fork are Riley Bevington with 256 points, 28 assists, 63 rebounds, and 45 steals, Nikki Tardif with 121 points, 19 assists, 78 rebounds, and 28 steals, Annelise Bumgarner with 66 points, 21 assists, and 19 steals, and Hazel Jenkins with 50 rebounds.
Monte Vista
Monte Vista starts their season off with a 6-1 overall record, winning their first game in January over Del Norte 28-26 and securing the number 6 spot in the CHSAA Seeding Index. The Pirates will be looking to keep their success going this week as they will take on league opponent Pagosa Springs on the road on 1/16 and then they will travel to Buena Vista to take on the Demons to end the week on 1/17.
Leading the Pirates on the stat board so far this season are Heysenny Beltran with 61 points, 12 assists, and 22 steals, Reminee Mascaranas with 48 points, 10 assists and 32 steals, Sienna Daniel with 48 points and 35 rebounds, Cindy Cereceres with 8 assists and 15 steals, Hannah Henderhan with 35 rebounds, and Destiny Pacheco with 31 rebounds.
Wiggins
The Wiggins Tigers are currently 7-3 overall on the season with a 1-0 league start and are 7th in the seeding index. In 2026, the team was able to get wins over Haxtun 48-10, Byers 60-17, and Strasburg 44-30 but fell to Merino 43-25. The Tigers will be looking to get more wins added to their record and will play Windsor Charter Academy on 1/16, Akron on 1/17 and then will start next week with a game against Resurrection Christian on 1/20.
Leading the teams on the stat board are Tenleigh Lorenzini with 77 points, 14 assists, and 66 rebounds, Jaydin Busch with 66 points and 49 rebounds, Kellie Vicchrilli with 63 points and 23 steals, Karsyn Kerr with 18 assists, 45 rebounds, and 25 steals, Kynley Yzaguirre with 17 assists, and Juliet Leon with 27 steals.
Thomas MacLaren School
The Highlanders are off to 7-1 overall start to the season after getting two wins to start January, beating Woodland Park 55-14 and Fowler 58-26. Thomas MacLaren will be hosting Pikes Peak Christian tonight and then next week they will travel to ACA on 1/20. The team will be looking to win these games and add more wins to their record and keep their momentum moving up.
Leading the stat board for Thomas MacLaren are Sara Christensen with 112 points, 20 assists, 122 rebounds, and 51 steals, Aneace Forman with 89 points, 23 assists, 58 rebounds, and 43 steals, Sarae Johnson with 86 points, 13 assists, and 25 steals, and Petron Mulder with 28 rebounds.
Addenbrooke Classical Academy
ACA is 1-1 to start the new year and league play, falling to Loveland Classical 36-37, and beating AWCPA 48-9 to bring their overall record up to 5-2 overall this season. The team currently sits 9th in the CHSAA Seeding Index and will be looking to add more wins to their record to stay within the top 10 teams. The Mustangs will face Rocky Mountain Lutheran on 1/16, and then will start next weeks games by hosting Thomas MacLaren School on 1/20.
Stat leaders for the Mustangs are Reena Lanzen with 69 points and 25 steals, Peyton Trujillo with 58 points, 14 assists, 34 rebounds and 19 steals, Lucia Rodriguez with 39 points, 14 assists, and 47 rebounds, Brynleigh Politsch with 8 assists, Chloe Brand with 25 rebounds and Brooke Montoya with 20 steals.
Centauri
The Falcons round out the top 10 teams in the CHSAA Seeding Index with a 5-3 overall record, starting January off with a win over Delta 44-33 and a loss to Montrose 35-52. Centauri will now start league games and will start by traveling to Montezuma-Cortez on 1/16 and then to Bayfield on 1/17. Next week the Falcons will start their games playing their rivals down the road at Sanford on 1/20.
Stat leaders for the Centauri Falcons are Lyndie Sowards with 31 points, Kynlei Curtis with 20 points, 3 assists, 10 rebounds, and 9 steals, Rylie McCarroll with 19 points, 2 assists, and 15 rebounds, Bristol Pence with 3 assists, Sydney Haslett with 9 rebounds, Paityn Sowards with 11 steals, and Harper Russell with 9 steals.
Buena Vista
The Demons are currently 7-2 overall on the season and are in the 11th spot in the seeding index. Buena Vista was able to start January off with two wins, beating Florence 44-21 and Crested Butte 46-22 but fell to Sanford 23-24 this week. Buena Vista will be looking to change their momentum and add a couple of wins before the week is over. The team will travel to CHCHS tonight and then will end the week hosting Monte Vista on 1/17.
Leading the Demons on the stat board are Daisy Lubbers with 95 points and 77 rebounds, Liz Molitor with 93 points, 12 assists, 84 rebounds, and 26 steals, Adeline Smith with 61 points, 29 assists, 43 rebounds and 32 steals, and Alex Baird with 11 assists and 22 steals.
Salida
The Spartans start off 2026 with a 6-2 overall record with a 2-0 league record and a win over Gunnison 65-32. Salida will be looking to keep their success going and add more wins to their league and overall record tonight as they take on Woodland Park at home. Next week the team will start their games on the road at James Irwin on 1/21.
Stat leaders for the Spartans are Braeden Johnson with 124 points, 30 assists, 45 rebounds, and 32 steals, Graysa Kindle with 81 points, 13 assists, 68 rebounds, and 18 steals, Reagen Osness with 64 points and 23 steals, Kaija Saari with 10 assists, and Madelyn Johnson with 33 rebounds.
Forge Christian
Forge Christian ended 2025with a 6-3 overall record, winning their last two games in a row over SkyView Academy 34-23 and Manual 43-32, and outing them in 13th in the CHSAA Seeding Index. The team will be looking to add more wins to their record and start the new year off on the right foot as their first game of the new year will be against Eagle Ridge Academy tonight at home. Then the Fury will host Sterling to end the week on 1/17 and will kick off next week hosting Peak to Peak on 1/20.
Leading the Fury’s stat board are Finley Queen with 121 points, 11 assists, 90 rebounds and 28 steals, Leighton Queen with 53 points, 26 assists, and 37 rebounds. Rio Beck with 50 points, Maxine Rossi with 18 assists, 37 rebounds and 20 steals and Aleeza Olsen with 18 steals.
Lyons
The Lions are on a 5 game winning streak after winning their first three games in January over Estes Park 32-18, Ascent Classical Academy 37-21, and Front Range Baptist 58-13. This outs Lyons at 7-1 overall on the season and 1-0 in league play so far this season. The team will be looking to keep their winning streak alive and will host Liberty Common tonight and then Front Range Christian on 1/16. Next week the team will start their games off against Dawson School on 1/21 on the road.
Leading the team in stats are Gwen Gadbaw with 75 points, 13 assists, 39 rebounds, and 24 steals, Luci Santesteban with 66 points, 19 assists, and 38 steals, Gretta Wynja with 56 points, 73 rebounds and 19 steals, and Ava Vasquez with 21 assists and 100 rebounds.
Platte Valley
The Broncos are currently 7-2 overall on the season and 15th in the seeding index. The team was able to get wins over Eaton 47-41 and Bennett 47-26 to start off 2026, but fell to Wellington 46-56 to end last week. Platte Valley will be looking for a bounce back game to end the week as they host Highland in a league game on 1/16. Next week the tea, will host the Yuma Outlaws on 1/20 to start the week’s play.
Leading the teams stat board so far this season are Bryla Bunting with 101 points, 17 assists, 57 rebounds and 38 steals, Kyra Jessop with 83 points, Delaney Uyemura with 77 points and 25 assists, Addy Grossnickle with 26 assists, 36 rebounds, and 42 steals, and Dyra Koffler with 62 rebounds and 37 steals.
Cedaredge
Cedaredge rounds out the top 16 teams in the CHSAA Seeding Index with a 7-3 overall record and a 3-1 league record. The team was able to get league wins over Gunnison 40-38 and Olathe 50-35 to start January but fell to Meeker 21-37. The Bruins will be looking to add more wins to their league and overall record this week and will play Roaring Fork today at home and then they will start next week off traveling to league opponent North Fork on 1/20.
Stat leaders for the Bruins are Sammy Denison with 86 points, 22 assists, and 26 steals, Rachel Brooks with 72 points, Lydia Tietz with 56 points, 25 assists, 39 rebounds, and 31 steals, Melyora Purdy with 20 assists, Macy Medill with 61 rebounds, and Zeandra Robidoux with 49 rebounds and 24 steals.
