1A North Central

1. Fleming (5)

2. Prairie (12)

3. Briggsdale (13)

4. Weldon Valley (24)

5. Peetz (35)

The North Central League will get an automatic berth into regionals because they have 5 teams in their league.  The North Central I think could be very competitive this season.  Fleming is my pick to win the North Central League.  Fleming had a huge win earlier in the season over McClave but now after Christmas break how can they respond in a tough North Central.  Prairie and Briggsdale both should challenge for the league crown and are lock for regionals.  Weldon Valley and Peetz are regional contenders.

My predictions for North Central

League Champion: Fleming

Regional Contenders: Fleming, Prairie, Briggsdale, Weldon Valley, Peetz

Dark Horse: Weldon Valley

Player of the League: Hannah Kugler Jr. Prairie

1. McClave (1)

2. Eads (2)

3. Cheraw (7)

4. Kit Carson (19)

5. Granada (15)

6. Cheyenne Wells (31)

The High Plains League could be one of the top leagues in Class 1A plus will also get an automatic berth into regionals because they have over 5 teams in league.  I think 3 teams have a realistic shot at reaching the State Tournament with possibly all 6 being in contention for Regionals.  McClave is my pick to win the High Plains League.  McClave since falling early in the season has won 6 straight games including key wins over Eads (2x) and Springfield.  Eads and Cheraw are the two teams I think challenge for the league crown plus I think are state tournament contenders and regional locks.  Kit Carson, Granada, and Cheyenne Wells are all regional contenders.

3. Manzanola (53)

4. Aguilar (54)

The Fishers Peak League will not get an automatic berth into regionals and teams will have to qualify by being in the top 32 of the CHSAA Seeding Index.  With just tfour teams in the league the Fishers Peak league will rely on their out of league schedule to help them get into regionals.  Primero is my pick to win the Fishers Peak League and will be in contention to reach regionals.  La Veta is also in contention for Regionals but will have to get on a winning streak down the stretch.

My predictions for Fishers Peak

The 1A Black Forest will get an automatic berth into regionals as they have more than 5 teams in their league.  Evangelical Christian is my pick to win the Black Forest League.  ECA is currently 8-1 and ranked inside the top 10 of the seeding Index.  They will be a state tournament contender.  Elbert and Miami-Yoder will give ECA there best shot for the league title and will be regional contenders.

My predictions for 1A Black Forest

Regional Contenders: Evangelical Christian, Elbert, Miami-Yoder

Dark Horse: Miami-Yoder

Player of the League: Reagan Schultz, Evangelical Christian

5. Holly (43)

6. Wiley (48)

The 1A Ark Valley will get an automatic berth into regionals.  They have 6 teams, and I am excited to see the race between the top 3 teams in this league.  Springfield is my pick to win the league.  Springfield is 8-2 to start the year with both loses coming to #1 McClave.  Springfield played McClave well and should help them push to get into the top 8 and host a regional.  South Baca and Kim/Branson will give Springfield there best shot and will be regional contenders.

My predictions for 1A Ark Valley

League Champion: Springfield

Regional Contenders: Springfield, South Baca, Kim/Branson
