Class 2A Wrestling Week 6 Recap and Week 7 Preview
By Tyler Buhr
Week 6 Recap
Fight at the Fork 2026
This tournament was a showcase of depth and balance across the Western Slope. Cedaredge led the way with two champions and a wave of finalists, showing why they’re one of the most complete small‑school lineups in the state. Meeker didn’t produce a champion but piled up points everywhere, placing eight wrestlers and keeping themselves firmly in the team‑race conversation.
North Fork and Norwood each delivered a signature champion — Braeden Flores (157) and Kannon Sherman (215) — and backed them with multiple podium finishes. Crowley County made the most of its entries, going two‑for‑two in the finals with Buford (113) and Gibson (175).
Teams like Hayden, Akron, Merino, and Dove Creek showed strong mid‑bracket depth, while West Grand and Olathe produced high‑impact champions that punched above their roster size.

Springfield made the most of its lineup, earning two upper‑weight titles from Konkel (215) and Spires (285), both of whom controlled their brackets. Rye and Primero each produced high‑impact finalists, with Kyler Spleen (138) standing out as one of the most explosive wrestlers in the field.
Ellicott, Sierra Grande, and Antonito each placed key individuals, with Zapien (215) and Bradley (132) delivering strong runner‑up finishes.
