Week 8 Recap

2026 Duff Seaney Invite – Canon City

This field once again showcased the strength of North Fork, who put seven wrestlers on the podium and crowned two champions — Derick Sievertson (150) and Braeden Flores (157). Their consistency across the middle and upper weights continues to separate them from the pack.

West Grand delivered a gritty performance with three high‑value placers, highlighted by Walker Howell (165) and Blake Terryberry (285), both of whom battled deep into their brackets.

Crowley County made the most of its lineup with two champions — Derreck Buford (113) and Levi Gibson (175) — giving them one of the most efficient performances of the tournament.

Fowler, Olathe, and Las Animas each produced key finalists or placers, with Stockton Sharon (120), Monty Yarnell (144), and Layf Skadberg (106) all turning in strong showings.

Colorado Springs Christian and Walsenburg each had a single finalist — Craddock (144) and Torres (138) — both of whom continue to trend upward in their respective classifications.

2026 Valley Classic – Center High School

This tournament was all about Cedaredge, who dominated the field with three champions and a staggering ten total placers. Their middle‑weight core — Cash Martinez (120), Liam Martin (126), and Kolter Mann (175) — continues to be one of the most reliable scoring engines in the state.

Monte Vista delivered two champions of their own in Dean (106) and Rodriguez (113), while Buena Vista showcased elite upper‑weight power with titles from Flowers (190) and Stromer (215).

Limon had a strong, balanced showing highlighted by Spoke Carr’s title at 285, plus multiple finalists across the upper weights.

Ignacio once again leaned on its star: Lincoln DeKay (165), who continues to look like one of the most complete wrestlers in the classification.

Dove Creek, Sargent, and Norwood each produced high‑value placers, with Dove Creek’s Cael Beanland (138) and Sargent’s Heineman (132) delivering statement wins.

This tournament delivered a heavyweight battle between Rocky Ford and Sedgwick County/Fleming, with both squads showcasing elite firepower and deep scoring potential. Rocky Ford leaned on three champions — Fehrenbach (138), Martinez (150), and Villegas (165) — while Sedgwick County/Fleming countered with four of their own, highlighted by Edson (120) and Reichman (175).

Merino quietly put together one of the most balanced performances of the event, placing seven wrestlers and earning a title from Casey Kaus (126) while adding high‑value runner‑up finishes across multiple weights.

Springfield and Swink each produced standout upper‑weight performances, with Springfield’s Konkel (215) and Spires (285) both claiming titles, and Swink’s Lagregen (144) adding another gold.

Several smaller programs made noise as well — County Line’s Shaine Winder (132) delivered a dominant championship run, while Gilpin County, Simla, Kiowa, Stratton, Cheyenne Wells, and Byers all produced key placers that kept them competitive in the team standings.
