Boys Basketball Class 3A Regional Projections & Bubble Watch Week 9

Remember to qualify for Regionals you must be ranked inside the top 32 or win your League (If you have 5 or more teams). This week we breakdown the race to host plus the teams sitting on the bubble. Class 3A

League Champions earn an automatic berth in the playoffs as long as they win their league outright. Each league must have a minimum of 5 teams in it for an automatic berth.
Seeding Criteria for the 32-team state bracket-CHSAA Seeding & Selection Index published after the regular season. Seeds 9-16 are true seeded except to try and avoid league matchups in the First Round Only. Teams may be moved one spot up or down. Seeds 17-32 may be moved up to two spots based upon geography & League matchups.
First Two Rounds of the state tournament (Regionals) will be hosted by the top seed in that quadrant of the bracket, over two days. (4-teams total).
Top 8 teams will advance through the bracket. The bracket Will Not be reseeded before State. Class 3A Great 8 will play a Modified consolation bracket. Teams losing on Thursday will not advance to Friday.

3A/2A/1A Mile High: 2A Team (Heritage Christian)

3A/2A Foothills League: 2A Team (Golden View Classical)

3A Black Forest League: Peyton (Will not Automatically Qualify)

3A Western Slope: Roaring Fork

3A Patriot League: Strasburg

Class 3A Boys nearly has the top 8 locked up for Regionals. #8 Roaring Fork has a .055 lead over #9 Wiggins and an even bigger lead over #10 Liberty Common. If Roaring Fork wins the Western Slope they should easily lock up a top 8 spot and for the #9 or #10 team to jump into the mix for a top 8 spot it may come down to Peyton or Resurrection Christian to take an upset loss. The interesting spot will be the battle for the top 5 seeds. Strasburg and Banning Lewis are very close and separated by just .003 for the #1 seed. Forge Christian, Yuma, and Windsor Charter look to be battling it out for the #3, #4, and #5 seeds.

First Four Out

Lyons (33), Salida (34), Clear Creek (35), Ignacio (36)

The race for the final spot in the playoffs should be a good one. #31 Centauri sits at .545 and has a decent lead over #32 Wray .494. Centauri, Bruce Randolph, Frontier Academy, and Manual are all very close from #28 thru #31 so we could see some reshuffling and those 4 teams should be safe if they avoid any bad losses. The main story line is Wray at #32. Wray is just .0007 ahead of #33 Lyons. Those two teams look to be the main contender for that final spot but Salida, Clear Creek, Ignacio, Platte Canyon, and William Smith also are close enough to threaten for that final spot. Simple for the remaining teams win and put yourself in the best spot possible.

Bracket- League matchups will be avoided in the first round only. 8 Regional winners qualifying for state. State will not be re-seeded! And play a Modified consolation bracket!
