
Class 3A Girls Weekly Review and Preview

As the final few weeks of the regular season approach, we take a look at the teams who are leading their respective leagues and who we should see enter the playoffs. Some teams may only hold the title for a few more games while others are fighting to dethrone the top teams.

Yuma
The Outlaws are currently 14-4 overall on the season with an 8-0 league record, are 1st in the Patriot league and 3rd in the CHSAA Seeding Index. Yuma has won all of their games so far in February which were over Wray 54-29, Wiggins 28-21 and Strasburg 36-23. With only two games remaining on the regular season schedule, Yuma will be looking to add these games to the win column as they take on Windsor Charter Academy on 2/13 and Resurrection Christian on 2/17.
Stat leaders for Yuma are Berkley Nighswonger with 219 points and 75 rebounds, Taryn Sheffield with 195 points, 37 assists, and 50 steals, Carolina Ross with 99 points and 46 steals, Bailey Nighswonger with 29 assists and 103 rebounds, Aubrey Black with 28 assists and 41 steals and Lauren Gonzales with 93 rebounds.
North Fork
North Fork sits 11th in the CHSAA Seeding Index with a 15-3 overall record, a 9-2 league record, and are 1st in the Western Slope League. The team is on a 7 game winning streak after beating Cedaredge 48-40, Olathe 58-35, and Vail Mountain 57-25 now in February. The team will be looking to end the regular season with more wins on their record. Tonight the Miners will take on Aspen in a league game to try and keep their win streak alive.
Leading the team on the stat board are Meri Hollembeak with 241 points, 65 assists, and 68 steals, Alyssa Lovelace with 194 points, 28 assists, 117 rebounds, and 53 steals, Arlie Moore with 81 points, 44 assists, and 40 steals, Brooke Angelvich with 86 rebounds, and Sayde Allen with 75 rebounds.
Thomas MacLaren School
Thomas MacLaren sits 7th in the CHSAA Seeding Index with a 16-1 overall record with a 1-0 league record and are 1st in the Black Forest League. The team is currently on a 12 game winning streak after beating GVCA 60-31 and Banning Lewis 62-26. The team will be looking to add more wins to their record as the regular season heads towards the end and will travel to Harrison tonight, then they will travel next week to Monument Academy on 2/18.
Stat leaders for Thomas MacLaren are Sara Christensen with 288 points, 39 assists, 230 rebounds and 141 steals, Aneace Forman with 187 points, 67 assists, 117 rebounds, and 128 steals, Sarae Johnson with 147 points and 24 assists, Petron Muilder with 64 rebounds and Azailya Forman with 47 steals.
Addenbrooke Classical Academy
ACA is currently 2nd in the Foothills league with a 7-1 league record, a 15-3 overall record, and currently sit at 17 in the seeding index. The Mustangs are on a 9 game winning streak after beating STEMSHR 51-5, Two Roads Charter 42-2, Arrupe Jesuit 55-16m Poudre Community Academy 46-4, and Ascent Classical 41-22 in February. The team will be looking to end the regular season with some additional wins and will play their last three games against Front Range Christian tonight, Clear Creek on 2/14, and LSFE on 2/18.
Stat leaders for ACA are Reena Lanzen with 202 points, 28 assists, 89 rebounds, and 62 steals, Peyton Trujillo with 159 points, 51 assists, 96 rebounds, and 48 steals, and Lucia Rodriguez with 135 points, 50 assists, 133 rebounds, and 68 steals.
Middle Park
Sitting behind Bennett, Middle Park is 2nd in the Frontier league with a 5-0 league record, an 11-8 overall record, and are sitting 30th in the CHSAA Seeding Index. The Panthers have won both of their games in February, beating Englewood 48-13 and Arrupe Jesuit 52-32. Middle Park will be looking to end the regular season strong and stay inside of the top 32 teams to make it to the playoffs. The teams’ remaining games will be against Arvada on 2/14, Alameda on 2/24, Jefferson Academy on 2/26 and The Academy on 2/27.
Leading the Middle Park stat board are Sydney Solomon with 198 points, 35 assists, 109 rebounds, and 81 steals, Briell Eaton-Ahrens with 109 points and 59 steals, Jolee Paugh with 82 points, Jessica Kohlwey with 20 assists and 42 steals, Margo Redding with 19 assists and 84 rebounds, and Lauren Bullock with 95 rebounds.
Salida
Salida is currently 13-3 overall on the season, 9-0 in league play, 1st in the Tri-Peaks League and are 6th in the CHSAA Seeding Index. The Spartans were able to get wins over Banning Lewis 59-23, Rye 64-24 and The Vanguard School 58-38 but fell to Simla 48-58 in the month of February. Tonight the team will travel to Manitou Springs and then they will host St. Mary’s on 2/14. The team will be looking for more wins to add to their record and will try to crack the top five in the seeding index by the end of the regular season,
Stat leaders for Salida are Braeden Johnson with 272 points, 69 assists, 86 rebounds, and 81 steals, Graysa Kindle with 161 points, 24 assists, 136 rebounds, and 42 steals, Reagen Osness with 116 points, 64 rebounds and 42 steals, and Kaija Saari with 26 assists.
Denver Christian
The Thunder are currently 2nd in the CHSAA Seeding Index with a 19-1 overall record, a 7-0 league record, and are 1st in the Metro League. Denver Christian was able to get wins over Jefferson Academy 62-27, Peak to Peak 79-13, and The Academy 69-22. The team will be looking to end their season with an additional three wins which will be against Prospect Ridge Academy on 2/17, Colorado Academy on 2/20 and Forge Christian on 2/26.
Stat leaders for Denver Christian are Natalie Bohannon with 298 points and 160 rebounds, Tenley Fuller with 274 points, 90 assists, 120 rebounds, and 118 steals, Riah Moore with 227 points, 65 assists, and 75 steals, Teagan Fuller with 60 assists and 69 steals, and Addison Ruter with 105 rebounds.
Centauri
The Falcons are 15-3 overall on the season and are 1st in the Intermountain league with an 8-0 league record, putting them in 4th in the seeding index. Centauri was able to get wins over Montezuma-Cortez 71-34, Bayfield 91-9, and Rye 72-19 now in February and the team will be looking to continue their success and will be taking on Ignacio on 2/13 and Monte Vista on 2/14.
Stat leaders for Centauri are Lyndie Sowards with 31 points, Kynlei Curtis with 20 points, 3 assists, and 10 rebounds, Rylie McCarroll with 19 points, 2 assists, and 15 rebounds, Bristol Pence with 3 assists, Sydney Haslett with 9 rebounds, Paityn Sowards with 11 steals and Harper Russell with 9 steals.
Lyons
Lyons is currently 14th in the seeding index with a 13-3 overall record, a 6-2 league record, and are 2nd in the Mile High League Behind Heritage Christian. The Lions lost their first game of February which was against Heritage Christian 33-52 but was able to get a win over Flatirons Academy 32-27. The team will be looking to end their last three games of the regular season with wins which will be against Gilpin County tonight, Union Colony Prep on 2/17 and Clear Creek on 2/19.
Stat leaders for Lyons are Gwen Gadbaw with 156 points, 29 assists, 73 rebounds, 51 steals, Luci Santesteban with 129 points, 45 assists, and 70 steals, Gretta Wynja With 126 points and133 rebounds, and Ava Vasquez with 42 assists, 198 rebounds and 36 steals.
Manual
The Thunderbolts are sitting at number 26 in the seeding index with a 12-4 overall record, a 6-2 league record and are 4th in the City League. Manual has been able to win all of their games so far in February, over DSST: Green Valley Ranch 67-7, Lincoln 48-46 in OT and DMLK 64-12, and will be looking to maintain their success and will end their regular season with a game against DSST: Conservatory Green on 2/13, a league tournament on 2/18 and 2/20, and their final game against DSST: College View on 2/25.
Leading Manual on the stat board are Dayjah Fox with 46 points, 32 rebounds, and 10 steals, Leilani Mack with 26 points, 5 assists, and 13 steals, Caylei Walker with 15 points, 2 assists, and 12 steals, Nau’jee Cross-Jones with 3 assists, La’Kaylia Byers with 9 rebounds, and Hannah Gonzales with 8 rebounds.
