Boys Basketball Class 2A Regional Projections & Bubble Watch Week 10

Remember to qualify for Regionals you must be ranked inside the top 32 or win your League (If you have 5 or more teams). This week we breakdown the race to host plus the teams sitting on the bubble. We will do this for every class. At the end I pick the 8 teams I think make it to state based on my projections.

Class 1A

League Champions earn an automatic berth in the playoffs as long as they win their league outright. Each league must have a minimum of 5 teams in it for an automatic berth.
Seeding Criteria for the 32-team state bracket-CHSAA Seeding & Selection Index published after the regular season. Seeds 9-16 are true seeded except to try and avoid league matchups in the First Round Only. Teams may be moved one spot up or down. Seeds 17-32 may be moved up to two spots based upon geography & League matchups.
First Two Rounds of the state tournament (Regionals) will be hosted by the top seed in that quadrant of the bracket, over two days. (4-teams total).
Top 8 teams will advance through the bracket. The bracket Will Not be reseeded before State. Class 2A Great 8 will play a full consolation bracket.

Last week we posted that the top 8 seeds were pretty much wrapped up but a few upsets have opened the door for a hosting spot. #8 Vail Christian was upset last week and now sit at .8293. #9 Merino (.8216) and #10 Haxtun (.8210) both are within striking distance of Vail Christian for the final host spot. I believe both the Western Slope and the LPAA/UPL have end of year tournaments so that will have a huge impact. Vail Christian also has a pair of huge games against De Beque and Caprock Academy this week.

First Four Out & Bubble Watch

Liberty Tree (33), Crested Butte (34), Del Norte (35), Rangely (36)

The bubble in Class 2A Boys is just about shut unless we see some big upsets in the final two weeks. #31 Fowler (.5049) and #32 Ridgway (.498) both have big leads over the #33 and #34 teams in the CHSAA Seeding Index. Liberty Tree (.449) and Crested Butte (.448) are about .050 behind the #32 team and at this point in the season .05 is a huge lead in the Seeding Index. Fowler has a brutal schedule remaining facing three teams ahead of them in the CHSAA Seeding Index plus a top 10 3A team in Peyton. Fowler also plays in the Santa Fe end of year tournament. Ridgway has a tough games against 3A Telluride remaining and then a must win game against Dove Creek. Liberty Tree has 6 total games remaining and there schedule is tough, facing Swallows Charter, Twin Peaks Classical, Pikes Peak Christian, and North Fork to end the year is not easy task but gives themselves an opportunity to jump into the top 32 with some wins. Crested Butte has two games remaining plus the end of the year SPL tournament.
