Class 3A Girls Basketball Regional Predictions
Regionals are here and it’s win or go home time. Reaching Regionals is one of many steps for teams looking to reach the State Championship. To reach the state tournament is simple. Win your Region and you will go to the State Tournament. 8 regions and 8 teams advance to the State Tournament. Remember this is just my opinion, we are doing this for fun, and we are not cheering against any team. We know all the hard work that each team has put in to reach this point. Region 1 at Denver Christian
#1 Denver Chrisitan over #32 Windsor Charter
#16 Wray over #17 Addenbrooke Classical
#1 Denver Christian over #16 Wray
This region runs thru Denver Christian. Denver Christian has been the #1 in Class 3A most of the season and they are playing as if they are the top 3A team.
Region 2 at Roaring Fork
#8 Roaring Fork over #25 Manual
#9 Thomas MacLaren over #24 Strasburg
Thomas MacLaren vs Strasburg matchup should be a solid game in the opening round. Strasburg has played better down the stretch and we will see if they can challenge the #9 seed.
#8 Roaring Fork over #9 Thomas MacLaren
This will be one of the best games in the regional finals. Both teams have been ranked all season, and both teams have aspirations of playing in Denver next week. Should be a good battle.
Region 3 at Centauri
#4 Centauri over #29 Liberty Common
#13 Forge Christian over #20 Platte Valley
I think Forge Christian vs Platte Valley in the opening round could be a good matchup. Platte Valley played in the tough Patriot League and will be battle tested.
#4 Centauri over #13 Forge Christian
Centauri has also been battle tested playing in the IML. Centauri faced 5 other teams out of 7 in their league that made it to regionals. Forge Christian will look to pull a huge upset and will lean on their top play to pull the upset.
Region 4 at Salida
#5 Salida over #28 SkyView Academy
#12 Meeker over #21 Highland
Meeker vs Highland is the matchup to watch in the opening round of this regional. Meeker at one point was ranked but a few tough loses had them drop just outside the rankings. Highland played in the Patriot League and should have them prepped to play top competition.
#5 Salida over #12 Meeker
Salida vs Meeker if it happens will be a great regional final. Meeker has defeated top talent this year in Roaring Fork. Meeker will look to pull one of the biggest upsets if they can knock off Salida. Salida has state tournament experience and are playing their best basketball of the season.
Region 5 at Wiggins
#2 Wiggins over #31 Platte Canyon
#15 St. Mary’s over #18 Monte Vista
St. Mary’s vs Monte Vista should be a solid matchup. St. Mary’s and Monte Vista are both battle tested and both will look to take their shot at the #2 seed.
#2 Wiggins over #15 St. Mary’s
Wiggins could be playing their best basketball of the season. Wiggins ended the year picking up huge wins to jump up to the #2 seed and can they continue playing at the high level.
Region 6 at Resurrection Christian
#7 Resurrection Christian over #26 Peyton
#10 North Fork over #23 Brush
The higher seeds should advance here as long as they don’t overlook their opponents.
#7 Resurrection Christian over #10 North Fork
This could be another amazing matchup in the Regional Finals. North Fork is easily playing their best basketball right now picking up wins over Meeker and Roaring Fork down the stretch. Resurrection Christian has also proven they are a top team. This is a matchup I wish would have happened in Denver but instead it decides who makes it to DU.
Region 7 at Yuma
#3 Yuma over #30 Middle Park
#14 Cedaredge over #19 Vanguard
Cedaredge vs Vanguard will be an amazing matchup in the Opening Round. Both teams have had there ups and down this season and both are tested against top talent.
#3 Yuma over #14 Cedaredge
Yuma has been a top team all season and they will get tested by the winner of Cedaredge vs Vanguard. Yuma will be looking to once again get to Denver.
Region 8 at C.S Christian
#6 C.S Christian over #27 Gunnison
#11 Buena Vista over #22 Lyons
The higher seeds should advance here as long as they don’t overlook their opponents.
#6 C.S Christian over #11 Buena Vista
I think a lot of people have this circle as the big upset of the regional finals. Buena Vista is coming off a 30-28 win over C.S Christian. I think this should be a great game again and the series is tied at 1-1.
