Class 1A Girls State Tournament Predictions
We are a few days from the State Tournament kicking off. We will have predictions out Today for Class 1A & 2A. I will give my predictions for all 4 Classes boys and girls. Wednesday we will preview Class 1A thru 3A Boys & Girls. If you would like to share your predictions, I would love to see everyone’s thoughts. Also, remember we are not cheering against any team, this is something we have done since we started the website, and we are wrong all the time!
Class 1A Girls State Tournament Predictions
Elite 8 Predictions
#1 McClave over #9 Cheraw
McClave comes back to the State Tournament as the #1 seed and returns a ton of experience from last year’s team. McClave has just 1 loss to a 1A team in Fleming and McClave currently has won 7 straight games since their last loss to 2A #2 Simla. McClave did face Cheraw back in early February getting the 47-32 win. Cheraw comes into the state tournament winning 10 straight games including a key win over Springfield a few weeks ago.
#5 Fleming over #4 Stratton Best Game of the Opening Round
This should be a fantastic game, and I expect this to come down to the wire. Fleming defeated Stratton on January 29th 55 to 49. Stratton comes into the matchup with 12 straight wins including key wins over Springfield and Idalia. Fleming comes into the matchup with 8 straight wins including wins over Caliche and Idalia. This will be the matchup everyone will have their eye on in the Elite 8.
#2 Eads over #10 Springfield 2nd Best Game of the Opening Round
Another great matchup in the Elite 8. Eads took care of business at Regionals winning both games by 24+ points. Eads also has won 12 straight games since their last loss to #1 McClave. Believe it or not Eads and Springfield have not met up this season. Springfield went in as the #10 seed and pulled the upset in the Regional Finals over Prairie 55 to 42. Springfield will look to build off the momentum and try and pull another huge upset. Springfield has won 5 of their last 6 games.
#11 Briggsdale over #14 Flagler 3rd Best Game of the Opening Round
The matchup probably no one predicted when the brackets came out. Briggsdale hit the road to Nucla and pulled the upset over the #6 seed 51 to 35. Briggsdale has a lot of momentum now including winning 6 of their last 7 matchups. Flagler also hit the road for regionals going down to ECA and upsetting the #3 seed 50 to 38. Flagler comes into this matchup also with a ton of momentum including winning 6 of their last 7 matchups.

I think we are in for some AMAZING games In the Class 1A. I can easily make a case for 6 of the 8 teams to win a state championship and even then, I think all 8 teams are well rounded and will make for some competitive games. I am very excited to see how everything boils down and I could easily see myself being way wrong, but I am excited for 3 great days of basketball.
