Class 3A Volleyball Weekly Review and Preview

We are about midway through the volleyball season now and teams are starting to take their spot in the 3A rankings. This week we look at the top 16 teams in the CHSAA 3A Rankings.
Resurrection Christian
Moving their way to the top of the CHSAA Rankings is Resurrection Christian with a 10-0 overall record. And recent wins over Stargate School and Wiggins 3-0 and Sterling 3-0 yesterday. The Cougars will end the season with a road trip to Eaton on 9/29 in the teams first league game. Stat leaders for the team are Tatum High street with 30 blocks, Corinne Soukup with 28 blocks, 18 aces, Brooklyn Diepersloot with 24 blocks and 78 kills, Paige Michaelson with 20 aces, 66 digs, 114 kills, and 56 receptions, Kylee Mayes with 19 aces, 99 digs, and 282 assists, Jada Nordhagen with 115 digs, 25 assists, and 152 receptions, and Bradee Seely with 6 assists.
University
University currently sits with an 9-0 overall record with recent wins over Platte Valley 3-1 and Peak to Peak 3-0. This was the teams last games for the month of September and they will resume play on 10/1 against Sterling before they start league play against Windsor Charter Academy on 10/6. Stat leaders for the Bulldogs are Kaydence Lucero with 20 blocks, Kenley Rudiger with 16 blocks, 19 aces, 53 digs, and 247 assists, Grace Elbe with 14 total blocks, Delaney Lauer with 19 aces, 56 digs, 131 kills and 60 receptions, Holly Jennings with 15 aces, Livianna Aguilar with 85 digs, 23 assists, and 84 receptions, Carigen Lucero with 69 kills and Emma Francis with 49 receptions.
Holy Family
The Tigers are currently 13-1 overall on the season with a 5-0 league record, are 1st in the Granite Peaks league, and are 3rd in the CHSAA Rankings. Holy family is currently on a 7 game winning streak after beating Mead, Monarch and Centaurus 3-0. The team will be looking to continue their winning streak and will take on Silver Creek on the road on 9/29. Next week, the Tigers will play in Niwot on 10/1 to kick off October. Stat leaders for Holy Family are May Siurek with 12 blocks, Jes Hoffman with 11 blocks, 16 aces, and 57 kills, Charlotte Fisher with 11 blocks and 68 kills, Taylor Hillegrass with 35 aces, 98 digs, and 307 assists, Jordan Fox eith 20 aces, 116 digs, 152 kills and 129 receptions, Caroline Staff with 132 digs, 13 assists, and 150 receptions, Kate Fisher with 15 assists, and Reet Sandhu with 96 receptions.
The Classical Academy
The Classical Academy was able to get wins over Pueblo County 3-1 and Cheyenne Mountain 3-0 last week, This week, the team beat Ponderosa and Douglas County 3-1. The Titans are now 12-2 overall on the season with a 4-0 league record and are 1st in the Continental league. TCA will be looking for continued success as they take on Falcon to end the week on 9/29 and then play Elizabeth next week on 10/1. Stat leaders for the Titans are Aubrie Renn with 30 blocks, 41 aces, and 87 kills Ashlyn Delaney with 25 total blocks, 24 aces, 98 digs 217 kills and 176 receptions, CJ Connelly wit h18 blocks, Caylee Somersalmi with 19 aces, 151 digs, 56 kills and 239 receptions, Sydney Corr with 242 assists, Addy Macha with 81 digs and 119 receptions, and Claire Gilbert with 177 assists.
Sterling
Sitting at number 5 in the CHSAA rankings, Sterling has a 7-3 overall record, a 1-0 league record and are 1st in the Patriot Plains league. The most recent win for the Tigers was against Valley where Sterling beat them 3-0 in league play but they fell to Resurrection Chistian last night 0-3. The team will be looking to add some more wins to their record before the end of the month and will face Wellington on 9/28 and Frontier Academy on 9/29. They will then kick off October playing University on 10/1. Stat leaders for Sterling are Bailey Jackson with 12 blocks and 35 kills, Karsyn Tonche with 11 blocks, 20 aces, 140 digs, 182 kills and 149 receptions, Kenzi Rubottom with 7 blocks, 17 aces, 169 digs, 12 assists, 121 kills and 153 receptions, Berkley Gardiner with 13 aces, 292 assists, Elliana Pelton with 107 digs, and Sydney Basseggio with 16 assists.
Eaton
The Reds are 9-2 overall on the season with a recent win over Roosevelt 3-0. Eaton is currently on a 7 game winning streak and will be looking to add another win to wrap up this week by facing Resurrection Christian on 9/29. Stat leaders for the team are Cecilia Reynolds with 11 blocks, Ashby Breinig with 10 blocks, Elianna Baessler with 7 blocks, Skyelyn Lefever with 24 aces, 268 assists, and 65 kills, Kate St. Jean with 24 aces, 172 digs, 46 assists, and 219 receptions, Mia Martinez with 20 aces, 109 digs, and 118 receptions, Anika Pearson with 117 digs, 93 kills, and 135 receptions, Aspen Lane with 39 assi-sts, and Maylea Maske with 84 kills.
Alamosa
Alamosa is 8-4 overall on the season with a 1-0 league record and are 1st in the Intermountain league. The Mean Moose were able to beat Durango 3-1 and The Village 3-0 in the last week of play and will be looking for continued success as they end the week taking on Montezuma -Cortez tonight. Next week, Alamosa will host Centauri on 9/29 and look to repeat their success of that game on 9/29. Stat leaders for Alamosa are Brooklyn Schrader with 15 blocks and 83 kills, Brynley Brown with 9 blocks, 10 assists, 96 kills and 115 receptions, Ashlyn Rice with 8 blocks, 19 aces. 122 digs, and 300 assists, Addison Rice with 26 aces, 211 digs. 24 assists, and 229 receptions, Kamryn Moeller with 21 aces, and Leela Gutierrez with 139 digs, 63 kills and 204 receptions.
Aspen
Aspen is 9-1 overall on the season with a 5-0 league record and are 1st in the Western Slope league. The Skiers are on a 5 game winning streak after beating Middle Mark and Basalt 3-0 in the last week. The team will be looking to maintain their success and will take on Coal Ridge to end the week on 9/26. Stat leaders for the team are Andrea Lee with 7 blocks and 69 kills, Suki Manuel with 6 blocks, Hannah Lee with 4 blocks, Belle Sinclair with 45 aces, 74 digs, 124 assists, and 43 kills, Autumn Sherwin with 15 aces and 92 receptions, Mary Morse with 15 aces, 55 kills and 74 receptions, Elena Creamer with 120 digs, 28 assists and 174 receptions, and Ava Braley with 64 digs and 90 assists.
Berthoud
Berthoud is currently 11-4 overall on the season after getting wins over Regis Groff, Standley Lake and falling to Northfield 2-3. The Spartans will have some time off before they start league play which will take place on 10/6 against Eaton. Stat leaders for Berthoud are Addison Jones with 52 blocks, 23 aces, and 147 kills, Libby Wilson with 23 blocks, 32 aces, 111 digs, and 501 assists, Lucy Kirklin with 22 blocks, Whitney Barmes with 27 aces, 88 digs, and 116 receptions, Sasha Carter with 154 digs, 22 assists, and 193 receptions, Avery Tychsen with 22 assists and 141 kills, and Amelia Major with 128 receptions.
Jefferson Academy
Sitting at 13-2 overall, 1-0 in league play, and 3rd in the Metro league, Jefferson Academy rounds out the top 10 teams in the CHSAA Rankings. In the last week of play, the team was able to beat Prospect Ridge Academy 2-0, lost to Forge Christian 1-2, but beat Weld Central 2-1, Elizabeth 2-0 and Denver Chrisitan 3-1. The Jaguars will be looking to add more wins to their record and hold their ranking as they end the month on 9/29 against Peak to Peak. They will then kick off October taking on The Academy on 10/1. Stat leader for the Jaguars are Georgia Miller with 15 blocks, 26 aces, 75 digs, 103 kills and 152 receptions, Emma Purcelli with 14 blocks, Milena Quintana with 12 blocks, Katerina Shadrach with 23 aces, 56 digs, and 93 kills, Ravel LaBerge with 21 aces and 266 assists, Tailey Sengdara with 100 digs, 11 assists, and 164 receptions, and Nyah Bieser with 49 assists.
Forge Christian
Forge Christian is 8-6 overall on the season with wins over Weld Central 2-0, Jefferson Academy 2-1, Fort Lupton 2-0, and The Village 3-2, and losses to Stargate School 2-3, and to Prospect Ridge Academy 0-2. The Fury will be looking to end the month on a win as they take on Colorado Academy on 9/29 and then Prospect Ridge Academy to start October on 10/1. Stat leaders for the Fury are Maddie Saba with 24 blocks and 84 kills, Colbee White with 12 blocks, 26 aces, and 312 assists, Josie Arp with 11 blocks, Finley Queen with 27 aces, 97 digs, 84 kills, Addison Davis with 15 aces, 108 digs, 140 kills and 201 receptions, Bella Tiner with 94 digs, 8 assists, and 289 receptions, Grayson Taylor with 11 assists, and Genevieve Leonardi with 132 receptions.
Windsor Charter Academy
The Firebirds are 12-2 overall on the season with recent wins over Valley and Brush 3-0. Windsor Charter will be looking to get another win on their record to end the month and will play Banning Lewis on 9/26 and then they will kick off October on 10/1 with a game against Frontier Academy. Leading the teams stat board are Vivian Dizmang with 5 blocks, 14 aces, Sophia Sims with 4 blocks, 66 kills and 45 receptions, Penny Perry with 3 blocks, Aubri Penfold with 27 aces, 67 digs, 255 assists, and 23 kills, Maddie Morse with 17 aces, 86 digs, and 70 kills, Adalyn Schwartz with 69 digs, 6 assists, and 55 receptions, and Katie Ward with 4 assists and 50 receptions.
Stargate School
Stargate School is 11-2 overall on the season with a 1-1 league record and a 1st place spot in the Metro league. The team is on a 7-game winning streak after getting wins over The Academy 2-1. St. Mary’s Academy 2-1, Elizabeth 2-0, Denver Christian 2-0, Flatirons Academy 3-2, and Forge Christen 3-2. To wrap up the month, Stargate will face Kent Denver on 9/29 on the road and then they will kick off October against Peak to Peak on 10/1. Stat leaders for the eagles are Kathleen Schoonveld with 18 blocks, Scotlyn Mackintosh with 16 blocks and 64 kills, Elizabeth (Ellie) Romary with 12 blocks, 20 aces, 108 digs, 100 kills and 128 receptions, Reese White with 31 aces, 117 digs, 300 assists, Addie Pollard with 26 aces and 87 kills, Maci Lamar with 129 digs, 26 assists, and 182 receptions, Autumn Kasten with 5 assists and Gracen Annis with 84 receptions.
Platte Valley
Platte Valley is currently 9-5 overall on the season after a win to Severance 3-0, a loss to University 1-3 and a win over Fort Morgan 3-0. The Broncos will be looking to get another win added to their record to end the month as they face league opponent Valley on the road on 9/29. They will then start October off against Brush in a league game on 10/1. Stat leaders for Platte valley are Bryla Bunting with 33 blocks and 26 aces, Kennedi Nelson with 16 blocks and 92 kills, Talea Huerta with 12 blocks, 22 aces, 2 assists, and 98 kills, Madi Hunt with 35 aces, 101 digs, and 175 receptions, Delaney Uyemura with 194 digs, 11 assists, and 274 receptions, Clara Ochsner with 127 digs and 424 assists, Paisley Nelson with 91 kills and Emery Martinez with 85 receptions.
The Village
The Mountaineers are currently 5-6 on the season and are currently on a 3-game loosing streak, falling to Centauri 2-3, Alamosa 0-3 and Forge Christian 2-3. The team will have some time off before they play games again and will resume play on 10/13 on the road against Sand Creek where they will look to break their current losing streak. Stat leaders for The Village are Ella Dorelus-Weems with 22 blocks and 57 kills, Alyssa Simmons with 21 blocks, Norah Hollis with 16 blocks, 22 aces, 78 digs, 9 assists, 158 kills and 211 receptions, Mary Estares with 18 aces, 89 digs, 141 kills and 188 receptions, Emerson Lavine with 15 aces, 80 digs, and 60 assists, Cecilia Pederson with 331 assists, and Lexi Vasko with 115 receptions.
Prospect Ridge Academy
The Miners are 9-5 overall, 2-0 in league play and are currently 1st in the Metro league. In the last week of play, the team lost to Jefferson Academy 2-0, lost to weld Central 2-1, beat Forge Chrisitan 2-0, lost to The Academy 2-1, beat Peak to Peak 3-0 and beat St. Mary’s Academy 3-0. The team will take on Denver Christian next week in a league game on 9/29 and then Forge Christian on 10/1 on the road. Stat leaders for the Miners are Molly McLemore with 30 blocks, Alessandra Erramouspe with 28 blocks and 61 kills, Brianna Bransom with 8 blocks, 29 aces, 54 digs, 96 kills and 61 receptions, Delaney Ash with 28 aces, 47 digs, and 269 assists, Genevieve Forsman with 25 aces, 165 digs, 20 assists, and 102 receptions, Corina Teufel with 2 assists and Ceira Trinta with 92 receptions.
