2A Conference Breakdown
Colorado Conference
Right now we have a two way tie between Kent Denver and Faith Christian. The battle between the two leaders of the conference will be this weekend. Kent Denver I believe will be the favorite between the two. The winner of this game will be in sole possession of first place and on the fast track to win the conference. Both teams have completely dominated conference foes and should be a great game. Third place in the conference is still up in the air. There is a 3 way tie currently for third. Alameda has the better record but one of their two losses is to fellow conference member Denver North.

Frontier Conference
The two way tie continues for the top of the Frontier Conference. Strasburg 6-0 (4-0) and Bennett 4-2 (4-0) will match up against each other next week in what figures to be the game that decides the Winner of the Conference. Strasburg plays Academy this weekend who is currently sitting in third place and ½ game ahead of Sheridan and Pinnacle. Both Sheridan and Pinnacle should be winners in the games. Third place in this conference is completely up for grabs. Should Academy pull the upset of Strasburg they will move into a tie for second and leaves Bennett in first.

Patriot Conference
The patriot conference is really up in the air still for 1st thru 4th place. Currently Brush and Sterling are tied for 1st place in the conference. Brush plays University which figures to be a win for Brush. The Key game for the Weekend will be between Eaton and Sterling. Eaton is currently in tied for second with Platte Valley who plays Valley which also figures to be a win. Sterling has already played the bottom of the conference and has a brutal 3 weeks left, which could determine where they place in the conference. The game between Sterling and Eaton is big for either team. Sterling with a win will stayed tied for first setting up the game between them and Brush next week which could decide the conference winner. A loss could put Sterling in a 3way tie for Second place. A win for Eaton is very important considering they have already lost to Platte Valley and still have to play Brush. A loss puts them alone in fourth place and hurts their chances at a wild card berth.

Tri Peaks Conference
We currently have 3 way tie for first place between Florence, Lamar, and La Junta. The big game which will knock one team out of the tie will be between La Junta and Florence. Florence has played a much tougher schedule and figures to be the Favorite. Florence with the win will stay in tied for first or in sole possession depending if Lamar wins at Manitou Springs. The same goes for La Junta with a win but the following week will have a chance to take over the lead with a big game against rival Lamar. Florence does not play Lamar until the last game of the season where the Conference Champion could be determined.

Western Slope North
This Conference is a mess. In sole possession of first is 3A Battle Mountain which can only qualify in 3A state tournament, and would more than likely have to win out to do so. This conference only get ONE automatic bid into the state tournament and it figures to be a tough one to guess who currently. With four teams tied for second place right now; Aspen, Coal Ridge, Basalt, and Moffat County anything can happen. I believe only one team will make the playoffs out of this conference. Aspen loss last week to Coal Ridge did not help the case when Aspen now currently has to play Battle Mountain, another loss by Aspen and they will be needing some help to win the Conference. Coal Ridge battles Moffat County which could help “eliminate” one team from the four way tie and possibly out of the chase for the one playoff spot. Basalt play Roaring Fork with a win will stayed tied for second and still in the chase for a playoff bid.

Western Slope South
The playoff picture was all but figured out when Gunnison beat Bayfield last weekend and two weekends ago beat Montezuma Cortez. They are in sole possession of first place. They play Alamosa this weekend and will be the favorites to win. The big game this weekend will be between Bayfield and Montezuma Cortez. The favorites look to be Montezuma Cortez if you are going purely by record. Second place though will not be completely locked down with a win. As Pagosa Springs plays Olathe and if they win will stay in a tie for Second place with the winner, but the road for Pagosa Springs moving forward will be a tough won with games against Gunnison and Bayfield still on the Schedule.
