I will be going to a wedding on Friday so no League Breakdowns for 1A this week.  I promise to get all 3 Classes Boys and Girls League Breakdowns done next week.  For these projections I am using RPI to seed but picking the District winners to advance.  Region 3 by far is the strongest Region in the State in 1A.

Class 1A

Eight Districts, each qualifying two or three (as noted) to three regionals

The #1 and #2 seeds from District 1 and 8 will be paired in 2017-2018 while the #1, #2, and #3 seeds from District 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 will advance to a regional site.  Region 2 (4, 5, 7) and Region 3 (2, 3, 6), the nine qualifying teams will be seeded by RPI, avoiding any previous district match-ups.  In Region 1 District 1 and 8 #1s will play the other District #2s.  Region 1 receives 2 state qualifiers, Region 2 and 3 receive three state qualifiers each.

School Year Region 1 Region 2 Region 3
2017-2018 1, 8 4, 5, 7 2, 3, 6
2018-2019 1, 7 4, 5, 8 2, 3, 6
2019-2020 1, 6 4, 5, 8 2, 3, 7

Each Region shall jointly determine it regional playoff site.

8 regional winners advance to the state tournament where they will be seeded by RPI, avoiding any previous regional or district matchup, if possible.

Class 1A great 8 will play a consolation bracket

Region 1

District 1 Qualifiers: De Beque, Ouray

District 8 Qualifiers: Cornerstone Christian, Front Range Baptist

#1 Cornerstone Christian vs #2 Ouray

#1 De Beque vs #2 Front Range Baptist

Note: District 8 is going to be a battle for the two spots and whichever teams come out of District 8 will have a good shot to advance to the State Tournament.  District 1 looks to be a runaway for De Beque and Ouray but don’t count out Dove Creek or North Park to steal a spot.

Region 2 ()=RPI *Region Decides where games will be hosted

The winners of Each Pod Advance to State!

District 4 Qualifiers: Peetz (5), Heritage Christian (4), Longmont Christian (7)

District 5 Qualifiers: Arickaree/Woodlin (34), Otis (28), Flagler/Hi Plains (32)

District 7 Qualifiers: Genoa-Hugo (22), Elbert (40), Kiowa (45)

Pod 1
#1 Heritage Christian vs (winner of #6 vs #7)
#6 Flagler/Hi Plains vs #7 Elbert

Pod 2
#2 Peetz vs (Winner of #5 vs #8)
#5 Genoa-Hugo vs #8 Arickaree/Woodlin

Pod 3
#3 Longmont Christian vs (Winner of #4 vs #9)
#4 Otis vs #9 Kiowa

Note: District 4 will take the highest seeds in each Pod.  District 5 & 7 have much lower RPI and will all be battling a District 4 team to advance to state.  I could see all 3 District 4 team advance to State I think which ever Pod gets Otis and Genoa-Hugo could be the scariest as both have played tough schedules and Otis has played tough against good competition.

Region 3 ()=RPI *Region Decides where games will be hosted

The Winner of Each Pod Advances to State!

District 2: Cheyenne Wells (6), Kit Carson (10), Wiley (23)

District 3: Holly (1), South Baca (9), Walsh ((20)

District 6: Creede (2), Sangre De Cristo (3), Sierra Grande (15)

Pod 1
#1 Holly vs (winner of #6 vs #7)
#6 Kit Carson vs #7 Sierra Grande

Pod 2
#2 Creede vs (Winner of #5 vs #8)
#5 South Baca vs #8 Wiley

Pod 3
#3 Sangre De Cristo vs (Winner of #4 vs #9)
#4 Cheyenne Wells vs #9 Walsh

Note: Whichever teams come out of Region 3 will be battle tested.  You are potentially looking at Holly vs Kit Carson/Sierra Grande, Creede vs South Baca, and Sangre De Cristo vs Cheyenne Wells which all are ranked in the Top 10 of the RPI.  Seeing how the RPI changes and seeing which teams make it to qualify to regionals will all affect regional seeding.
