Congratulation to the Class 1A State Champions Caliche Buffalos.
#7 Caliche faced off against #8 Nucla (Last years defending state champion). Caliche got off to a 2-0 lead before Nucla struck back. Nucla got a 2 RBI single from Cord Colson to tie the game up going into the fifth inning. Going into the 5th inning and tied at 2-2 Caliche was able to get a rally going with some timely hits and a error to get 3 runs across and a 5-2 lead. Brayden Nichols who started the game needed just 6 outs to get Caliche the State Championship. Nichols gave up a single in the 6th but was able to get out of the inning without giving up any runs. Into the 7th inning Nichols struck 2 of the 3 batters out to help Caliche clinch the State Championship.
