Football Week 10 Class 1A Playoff Projections
What I have decided to do is post my Playoff Projections using this week’s RPI posted here: http://chsaanow.com/rpi/football/ . I will then use the seeding Criteria and seed my Class 1A playoff like I have done since the first RPI came out. I will go into more scenarios and projections for teams on my weekly 1A breakdown posted later today.
Playoffs (Straight from Chsaanow.com): The Top 16 teams in the Classification based on the final RPI rankings will be placed into the post-season bracket. If a conference champion is not ranked in the Top 16 based on RPI rankings, they will replace the lowest ranked team that is not a conference champion in the Top 16.
Seeding Criteria (once qualifiers are determined)
- The following criteria will be taken into consideration when seeding bracket, in no particular order: geography, RPI, common opponents, strength of schedule, and head to head competition
- A conference champion in the Top-10 of the seeded playoff bracket will host a first round game, unless they are playing another league champion. Once seeded, the seeds of the team will not change regardless of who hosts the game.
- A conference champion not ranked in the top 10 of the seeded playoff bracket will be placed in the bracket but will not host a first round game.
- A conference champion not ranked in the Top 16 of the final RPI rankings will be placed in the bracket, but will not be guaranteed a top 10 seed and will not be guaranteed to host a first round game.
- Conference opponents will not be paired against one another in the first round.
- Geography will be consideration in the first round
Seeding Procedure
- Conference champions that are ranked in the top 16 of the RPI rankings are placed on the board for consideration.
- The seeding committee will determine the #1 overall seed and place that team on the bracket. The #2 team for the same conference as the #1 overall seed will then be placed on the board for consideration. The seeding committee will then determine the #2 overall seed and place that team on the bracket. The #2 team from the same conference s the #2 overall seed will then be placed on the board for consideration. This process followed until all 16 teams are seeded.

Host First Round Game
Limon, Peyton, Strasburg, Florence, Burlington, Meeker, Colorado Springs Christian, Centauri
(Florence and CSCS play each other this weekend with the winner winning the league title. I am going to go with Florence as the league champion due to RPI and makes things much easier (This is not a prediction). I will have my actual prediction in my weekly League Breakdown!)
First Round Matchups
- Limon vs 16. Highland
- Peyton vs 15. Olathe
- Strasburg vs 14. Wray
- Florence vs 13. Paonia
- Burlington vs 12. Platte Canyon (Could possibly host via seeding rules)
- Meeker vs 11. Buena Vista
- Centauri vs 10. Holyoke
- Colorado Springs Christian vs 9. Crowley County
Note: Only running through 1 scenario for Class 1A. Florence and CSCS play each other this weekend I am guessing the winner will be around the #4 spot and the loser it will just depend on RPI whether they stay in contention to host a first round game. Like I said I am going with Florence due to their RPI. Seeding wise in the top 8 the only changes from the RP I have is Meeker and Centauri above CSCS. I think they will put both teams ahead of CSCS due to SOS and if CSCS does lose they would drop below Centauri and Meeker in the RPI. The RPI helps seed the back end of the 16 very well. Crowley County, Holyoke, and Buena Vista all get seeded in order. They match up with geography as best as possible. Platte Canyon I have jumping Paonia to face a non-league champion and they can host this game as well if I read the rules correctly. Platte Canyon is also closer to Burlington than Paonia. I have Paonia at #13 due to geography. Wray, Olathe, and Highland finish in order of RPI and matchup quite well.
